  • in my case, sometimes me and my piano teacher do the opposite. instead of he playing along with me, i play along with him.

  • oh maan... i dont have ONE piano... and you´ve got TWO!!! that´s not fair... :((((

  • Hello Mario. I firmly believe in playing with students to reinforce timing & developing ensemble skills. My question is how do we as teachers find a way for students to practice this way at home? I video-record lessons using a Zoom HD recorder so that students and parents can review throughout the week. I have been starting to record all of my students pieces in my home studio and have students listen & play along with recordings while at home. However, this can have a negative affect on reading

  • Thoughts?

  • @musicalaccents I think audio recording or video recording your playing of a piece is an excellent way to encourage them to practice "along with you" at home, especially if there isn't already a recording that is available for them to play along with. As long as it's not overdone, I don't think it will have as negative an effect on their reading. Rather, I think it provides an aural connection with what's on the printed page.
