  • One of the best modern songs I've ever heard...and there is alot of shit out there these days.

  • This song is so addicting, it has the perfect melody and what a live performance!!

  • Great song....but the "So sad...." background vocals sound so pristine to me that I'm wondering if they are canned. Before anyone poo-poos, this happens all the time, great pressure on bands to sound "just like the CD" and move product. Anyone else think they hear this ?

  • @bwdrums1 the background vocals are definitely live.....

  • deadly

  • Saw them, last month at slims, unreal, does gary look like church lady?

  • Jayhawks rule the whole f*in place! Love em, great hippie band!

  • love this song. I play it live at almost all my own gigs.

  • love that b-bender!

  • @sublimekg

If you haven't heard it yet, I'm sure you'll love this one also.

Clarence White with The Byrds, You Ain't Goin' Nowhere.

  • I'm going to see the Jayhawks in Bloomington, Indiana on October 10, 2011. It should be great!

  • Remind me so much of Poco.

  • omg what eunuch music, deplorable!

  • @2tuque2 you're an idiot

  • @2tuque2 omg what clueless taste, disgusting !

  • I just see em' in London town , original line up, still got those great voices :) Gutted they did not play this one though :(

  • Great song man!

  • Vote or PEDRO !

  • Nice pretty song. Took me somewhere ( don't know where ) but the vocal harmonies

reminiscent , Nice nifty guitar solo with the b-bender.

  • BEAAAUTIFUL! LUV IT! U!!

  • sorry....the only real Jayhawks are the Rock Chalkin' ones!

  • WRONG SONG ... I wuz looking for a 70's song with the same title.

HEYYYyyy... isn't this singer used to be the fat goofy guy with The Turtles??

I like The Turtles [little zombie boy] Gee Elinor I think your swell...

WOYzah this is a good song, great band, the JayHucks

  • A great performance of a great song by a great band. The CD is one of the finest around: beautiful from beginning to end. I cannot understand why it wasn't more successful or why the Jayhawks didn't receive the recognition that they so richly deserved. This song is perfect: great lyrics, great hook, great lead work (here and on the CD). And it's not the strongest song on the CD!

Oh well. At least we have these great CDs by the Jayhawks, along with Louris's post-Jayhawks work.

  • I love how Paul Schaffer plays keyboards/organ with a lot of the guests.

  • i love there songs so much

  • sung like a true jayhawk!

  • "Great song, great band, THE JAYHAWKS" well said Mr. Letterman!!

  • the only band nowadays that really matters!

  • LOVE them!

  • Awesome stuff

  • awesome band!

  • Sings like Dylan but up a couple octaves. MN singing style must be the Scandinavian influence.

  • @FogOverhead I'm confused by this comment. Dylan can't sing.

  • @veryeavy Asinine.

  • Fucking PERFECT!!!!

  • It's a B-Bender Y'all

  • @perkeyset

    I don't think he's using a b bender here.

  • Nifty guitar solo.

  • i love this band !!!!!!!!! great performance!! wish i could see them live

  • Go I miss the Jayhawks....please come back.

  • The lead singer is solo now, he's got a cool video on the 89.3 current channel.Excellent recording! I miss living in Minnesota. The music scene is real consistent in a lot of genre's.

  • One of my favourite bands.

  • Wistful Americana doesn't come better than this.

  • Perfect performance!

  • Gary is like a Bob Dylan blessed with a voice capable of really high notes. Not knockin' Bob, just sharing what I see.

  • To find bands that can pull of 3 part harmony anymore... well, good luck. This is really powerful stuff. I found the JayHawks late in their career. But...at least I found them.

  • wise words

  • the harmonies are sooooo good. when the lead guitarist finishes the solo and then into the harmony part... smooooooth.

  • @angelslookdown 4 part harmony, bass player, electric guitar player, drummer, and the keyboard player off to the left are all singing the harmony background part...but yea, they are a great band

  • gorgeous stuff indeed

  • -This- is music.

  • @Melkorx5 couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • Talk about sounding perfect live. What a flawless performance.

  • I Dj'd a convention at a nudist club in Oregon and this is the song I started with. Yep! Everyone was dancing!

  • dangling genitalia i bet

  • Fecking top stuff....I love this band..

  • What a fucking great band!!

    Greets from chile.

  • jayhawks for ever!

  • saw Louris and Olsen last night in Atlanta in a very small venue. They were excellent!

  • Lucky you

  • dude i have the cd from this concert. I bought it at their show in New Mexico tonight.

  • Great band!

  • before i kill myself

  • Great!!!

  • .....Rock chalk!!!

  • Lovely song, great band. Thanks for posting.

  • yea I agree that guitar tone is wonderful- I think 'tone', instrumentally, vocally-musically all over makes these guys extra cool! !...I think this represents great country pop, and for all intents and purposes that the whole listening country populous needs to be brainwashed into accepting :)

  • This song is brillianty mixed, and what amazing guitar tone I must say, It's a shame I never got to see these guys live.

  • I saw these guys, probably one of their last shows at the Keswick Glenside. It was my first time, and HOPEFULLY NOT MY LAST.

We can only hope they get back together some time soon. Gary's amazing, but the Jayhawks are even one notch higher. I love the Jayhawks.

  • Precioso... Precioso...

  • gary louris&the jayhawks are amazing!!! the greatest artist of his generation!!! i'll be seeing gary&mark olson in a couple of weeks in manchester!!! i cant wait!!! love them!!!

  • Sure looks like one :-)

  • I had the pleasure of seeing him live not too long ago and his voice is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Pitch-perfect, never falters, absolutely pure. So gorgeous. I sure hope he and Mark come to Glasgow together sometime sooooooon.

  • Great tune

  • this song is addictive, doncha think?

  • look like the bastard sons of roger staubach

  • laughing my ass off.....you're quick.

  • I didnt know Roger Staubach was a drummer.. LoL... I love this band

  • yeah Roger Staubach iz a total asshole too... he thinks he's so cool... fuq him and his drums....

  • That's Warren Beatty don't you know. He and Roger Staubach look alike........

  • just starting listening to the jayhawks..... nice!

  • I got to see The Jayhawks in NYC just before they ended their last tour...one of the best shows I've ever seen....never understood why they didn't connect with a bigger audience...kinda glad they didn't...they're just our little secret...Gary Louris' new album is great ..buy it now!

  • Got it and it is great!

  • I got to see The Jayhawks in NYC just before they ended their last tour...one of the best shows I've ever seen....never understood why they didn't connect with a bigger audience...kinda glad they didn't...they're just our little secret...Gary Louris' new album is great ..buy it now!

  • Does anyone even know what a Jayhawk is? Did thay take it from KU? Hahaa...they should play Rock Chalk Jayhawk or the KU fight song!

  • Is that a B bender the lead guitarist is playing? Those bends he does at 2;30 are insane.sounds like a pedal steel almost

  • good eye - yeah the way he drops the neck it's gotta be a bender. Love that sound!

  • It is indeed. By the way, the lead guitar player is none other than Stephen McCarthy of the Long Ryders.

  • One of my favourite band !

This song is so good !

  • Funny, I was just listening to this song and my wife and were deciding what to do tomorrow night. We looked up who's playing at Cedar Cultural Center, and the opening act is Tim O'Reagan former Jayhawk drummer, who now has a solo career.

  • So sad they broke up

  • heartbreakers.

    they're farming truman capote territory.

  • excellent version of a great song. I miss those harmonies, so sad...

  • Very nice. They were at their best here. The Jayhawks were never virtuosos. But they had a knack for infectious country/folk/pop.

  • anyone remember when they played at the taste of minnesota? i was little kid and up front and the speakers scared me so i ran away from my dad and hide behind a tree

  • The Jayhawks are not that much known in the UK... they also sound a bit like The Byrds, Stealers Wheel, nice sound they have though. Are they still playing and touring, anyone know?.. Thanks. ;)

  • The Jayhawks broke up. Damn. Gary Louris (lead singer/writer/guitarist) has a new album out this week and a tour to follow. Not sure if he's going to the UK.

  • Keep hope alive - say they're on "indefinite hiatus" :-)

  • Will keep hope alive, they're awesome. I didn't hear that they were on "indefinite hiatus". Thanks, it gives me something to look forward to!

  • @keepnets

Jayhawks are playing in Sydney in May!

  • They are like a mix of Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty??? Has anyone got "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" to upload please???...

    Thanks from Wales, UK. ;)

  • i luv the jayhawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been listening 2 them since i was little because my mom and dad r huge fans, i wonder if they have big star the song by the jayhawks on here somwhere, LOL

  • Great Song by a Great Group.

  • yeah Honeydogs were amazing. 'seen a ghost' was the one - great record

  • awesome

  • Another great Mpls band, now defunct I believe, is the Honeydogs. Two brothers and others. Very talented. Try "Sourgrapes". Good stuff. I think Son Volt is also from Mpls...or members of the band are. Also great stuff. No, wait, we're supposed to listen to more U2, Tom Petty, John Couger Mellenkamp on the radio...what was I thinking ?

  • The Honeydogs rule!

  • @dougedart

    Right !

    :-)

  • Check Golden Smog

  • the jayhawks are absolutely amazing, their tracks are so soul moving and beutiful but hardly anyone in england has heard of them which is a shame but don't worry i've introduced loads of people to their work :>)

  • so sad

  • i love the Jayhawks!!!!!

  • At one time there were pictures on the Jayhawks site of the band recording a video for this song but I've never seen it. Anyone know of this AT ALL?

Can't wait for Gary's new album. Hope he comes to the east coast!

  • Gary Louris solo album due in a month or so!!

  • someone just told me that Blue Rodeo reminds them of the Jayhawks, and lo and behold...they really do remind me a bit of them...great tune

  • love this song

    couldnt find it for awhile

my mom got me t olove the jayhawks when i was 10

  • If anyone has the Jayhawks "Waiting for the Sun" video could they please post it?

  • i've requested the same thing on another jayhawks vid. have u had any luck finding it yet?

  • Adam Carolla made a loooong mention of the Jayhawks on his morning show a while back commenting on how good they were. His point was that we are being forced to listen to crap on the radio while we miss out on wonderful stuff like the Jayhawks. Now its too late. All of the members of the Jayhawks are great talent. Gary Louris' voice isn't like any of the cookie cutter crap we put up with on the radio. Minneapolis has given us some great stuff over the years. Thanks for the post. Vive XM radio!

  • Here here! Except for the XM part. I'm a Sirius man myself. STERN!

    Louris is a genius!!!

  • spoken like a true jayhawks fan :>)

  • This is my daughters favorite I had to sing it to get her to go sleep ! weird I know but it worked

  • It's not weird... your daughter has great taste in music !!

  • amaziingggg!!!!!!!!!!!

  • go ahead and break my heart in a million ways. just wish there were one more verse.

    sa

  • vrlo lijepo

  • cool love the jays shit they broke up really miss them think ill cover some of their songs & put them on my youtube

  • Nice to be able to agree wholeheartedly with something Letterman has said, for once.

  • dude, letterman is the man. if you don't know that by now, no one could ever tell you that - but then i did.

  • Great harp work.

  • Maravillosa!

  • I love this band. A buddy who owned a record shop told me to buy their first Vinyl release on Twin-Tone. I didn't know at the time, they would turn out to be the pop shapers they are. Great band.

  • God Save The Jayhawks. The best band of the past 20 years. Love them so damn much. Jayhawks, please come back!!!!

  • thei"re sououou good. ! thats all to say.

  • One of my favorite bands of the last 15 years. Then again I am a classicist and anything evoking shades of The Byrds, Dylan, and other notable '60s icons is pretty cool. Sucked big time when they broke up. Does anyone else think the guitar player to the left of Gary Louris kind of looks like Jackson Browne?

  • I'm with you there; just got better and better before regrettably breaking up. I can see the Browne similarity you mentioned.

  • the guitar player is the great stephen mccarthy...he was in the an awesome band in the 80's called the long ryders...

  • Watch from 2:40. Their hands are moving at the exact same time. It looks funny! I LOVE THE JAYHAWKS! THEY RULE!

  • Chill bumps, ya know.... that's our band.

  • ..wish I had a band like this..

  • very rootsy Gram Parsons like, this is good pure stuff

  • The best Jerry....the best.

  • I love that album. Thanks for posting.

  • The Jayhawks are just wonderful - what a great song!

  • Beautiful song, one of the best groups ever IMHO. I love these guys.

  • I enjoyed seeing that! Thanks for posting it.
