Great song....but the "So sad...." background vocals sound so pristine to me that I'm wondering if they are canned. Before anyone poo-poos, this happens all the time, great pressure on bands to sound "just like the CD" and move product. Anyone else think they hear this ?
A great performance of a great song by a great band. The CD is one of the finest around: beautiful from beginning to end. I cannot understand why it wasn't more successful or why the Jayhawks didn't receive the recognition that they so richly deserved. This song is perfect: great lyrics, great hook, great lead work (here and on the CD). And it's not the strongest song on the CD!
Oh well. At least we have these great CDs by the Jayhawks, along with Louris's post-Jayhawks work.
Com certeza, os Jayhawks, formam uma das melhores bandas de rock da atualidade. Uma ótima sonoridade, letras inteligentes, e grande presença nos palcos.
The lead singer is solo now, he's got a cool video on the 89.3 current channel.Excellent recording! I miss living in Minnesota. The music scene is real consistent in a lot of genre's.
To find bands that can pull of 3 part harmony anymore... well, good luck. This is really powerful stuff. I found the JayHawks late in their career. But...at least I found them.
@angelslookdown 4 part harmony, bass player, electric guitar player, drummer, and the keyboard player off to the left are all singing the harmony background part...but yea, they are a great band
yea I agree that guitar tone is wonderful- I think 'tone', instrumentally, vocally-musically all over makes these guys extra cool! !...I think this represents great country pop, and for all intents and purposes that the whole listening country populous needs to be brainwashed into accepting :)
gary louris&the jayhawks are amazing!!! the greatest artist of his generation!!! i'll be seeing gary&mark olson in a couple of weeks in manchester!!! i cant wait!!! love them!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing him live not too long ago and his voice is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Pitch-perfect, never falters, absolutely pure. So gorgeous. I sure hope he and Mark come to Glasgow together sometime sooooooon.
I got to see The Jayhawks in NYC just before they ended their last tour...one of the best shows I've ever seen....never understood why they didn't connect with a bigger audience...kinda glad they didn't...they're just our little secret...Gary Louris' new album is great ..buy it now!

Funny, I was just listening to this song and my wife and were deciding what to do tomorrow night. We looked up who's playing at Cedar Cultural Center, and the opening act is Tim O'Reagan former Jayhawk drummer, who now has a solo career.
anyone remember when they played at the taste of minnesota? i was little kid and up front and the speakers scared me so i ran away from my dad and hide behind a tree
The Jayhawks are not that much known in the UK... they also sound a bit like The Byrds, Stealers Wheel, nice sound they have though. Are they still playing and touring, anyone know?.. Thanks. ;)
The Jayhawks broke up. Damn. Gary Louris (lead singer/writer/guitarist) has a new album out this week and a tour to follow. Not sure if he's going to the UK.
i luv the jayhawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been listening 2 them since i was little because my mom and dad r huge fans, i wonder if they have big star the song by the jayhawks on here somwhere, LOL
Another great Mpls band, now defunct I believe, is the Honeydogs. Two brothers and others. Very talented. Try "Sourgrapes". Good stuff. I think Son Volt is also from Mpls...or members of the band are. Also great stuff. No, wait, we're supposed to listen to more U2, Tom Petty, John Couger Mellenkamp on the radio...what was I thinking ?
the jayhawks are absolutely amazing, their tracks are so soul moving and beutiful but hardly anyone in england has heard of them which is a shame but don't worry i've introduced loads of people to their work :>)

I love this band. A buddy who owned a record shop told me to buy their first Vinyl release on Twin-Tone. I didn't know at the time, they would turn out to be the pop shapers they are. Great band.
One of my favorite bands of the last 15 years. Then again I am a classicist and anything evoking shades of The Byrds, Dylan, and other notable '60s icons is pretty cool. Sucked big time when they broke up. Does anyone else think the guitar player to the left of Gary Louris kind of looks like Jackson Browne?
One of the best modern songs I've ever heard...and there is alot of shit out there these days.
