Butti will open a new eye socket on the dovi.. Dovis are killers and the large males with there teeth can do some real damage but dovis get less aggressive with age and size ( on average) but buttis get more aggressive and more vicious with size and age (on average).

A true sparing tank is 30 gallons or bigger with only one side clear glass with the glass being one directional (fish cant see you). 8 vs 12 the tank for this fight should be no smaller than 40 gallons. The divider should be dark tint so fish cant see each other until the very end.

But unlikely if conditions were fair. Was the tank over 40 gal for these to large fish and was the tank a neutral tank with a divider so both fish have time to binned.
It’s a fact no flowers in the wild. Kok is to big at an early age and fish cant compensate for the off shape of its body. Ergo death in the wild. And no clown, red devils do not get huge kok like flowers. If I have a flowerhorn for grade A and a red devil grade A for 1 years the flower will have 2 times the kok of the red D. We are talking on average. Every fish is different but most will have way bigger than red D’s.
@ramssb3400 it takes a while to get a bigkok on a red devil mine has one but i have had it for 3 years and he is 9 inches but what makes a flowerhorn is a red devil and a trimac they get the kok from the red devil but now days they make the koks bigger. the trimac doesnt get much of a bumps. Midas toget big koks they are very cllose related tothe red devil and in the wild u willsee midas with monster koks just like flowerhorns
