  • who cares if he isnt using a fly rod... I have both, and prefer my open face real and rod like hes using.

  • you dummy thts no minnow thts a trout

  • Nice fish, Trout releases are devastating native minnow populations over here in Australia but they fetch a good price so the god damn fisheries keep releasing em while they complain about carp? Live Minnow fishing is the easiest way to get dinner for the night if your chasing the rainbow trout I dont know why so many people get such a hard on for saying you should only use fly fishing for that method. If its dinner its the easy way not the hard.

  • fish like a real man and use a fly rod, bitch.

  • @jewsychicken

Guess its true... haters are gonna hate. Thanks for your opinion, as worthless as it is.... I'll keep feeding them meat. The trout certainly don't seem to mind and I'm not out there to fit some "manly" mold others think I should have to fit to be able to fish well. Honestly, opinions like yours are what keeps me from even trying fly fishing.... god forbid I turn into some uppity douche who thinks fish shouldn't be caught if its not my way.

  • @Rivrrat77 I fly fish and spin both great fun dont listen to kfc head up there give flyfishing a go not all flyfisherman are bad like chicken lover :-)

  • thats one big ass minnow

  • is that TITO ORTIZ troutfishing?

  • are all these fish wild, in our rivers in scotland they are usually stocked and just reel in like theres nothing on the end of your line. i was recently fly fishing on a loch and caught a small wild brown anout 11 inches and it fought like crazy.

  • @jamiekfc10 These are mostly wild fish. This stream is a tailwater from a dam a couple miles upstream from there so occasionally some of the stocked trout in the reservoir above wind up in the stream. You can get some pretty hefty bows occasionally and there were starting to be more tiger trout showing up as well. Sadly, whoever controls the runoff from the dam has let the flows become a trickle over the last couple years.

  • @jamiekfc10 I didn't fish it at all last summer and have heard that the weed growth in there is really taking over. When the ice cap on the reservoir thaws, they release a bunch of water (lacking in oxygen) out the bottom of the lake and it seems to kill off a bunch of the fish in the stream as well so the word is that the fishing has suffered. Used to be one of my favorite places to go... now... not real sure I'm in a hurry to go back.

  • get in my tummy!!! hahaha

  • get in my tummy!!! hahaha

  • what kind of rod and reel

  • @LIFalcons99

If I remember right, the rod was my G-Loomis 6 1/2 foot light action spinning rod and the reel is my trusty Shimano Sahara spinning reel. Sadly, I lost that rod, or at least the top half while float tubing in the mountains last summer. Bummer... it was a great rod.

  • lol isnt that just a baby trout??

  • @mjw789234 - Its not the biggest fish I've caught out of there... not the smallest either. They've drawn down the water a lot in that stream so it would actually be a decent fish these days. There are some holes where 20 inch + fish can be caught but you have to cover some ground to get there.

  • @Rivrrat77 i live in new zealand and over here that fish would only just be legal the biggest trout ive caught so far was 12lbs

  • @mjw789234 - Thats awesome... I've heard the stories, and read them about the huge stream trout over there. All I ever see is people fly fishing for them. Is it because its against the law to do otherwise? I've always dreamed about taking a size 3 gold spinner or a plastic bass minnow like I was throwing in this video and seeing how the fish react to that over there. Probably never going to happen unfortunately... it'd make for one hell of a tv show I'd bet. :-)

  • @Rivrrat77 in most of our streams and rivers you are only alowed to fly fish but in some rivers and streams you can use lures and in lakes its normally fly fishing only within 100m of the shore line and then out in the lake you can use any lures you want, i caught the 12lb fish jigging a fly at 30m deep.

  • fucking nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • @ConrailxChessie

It was a guy named Richard that I used to run around with. I've got some more vids somewhere of him catching some browns that jumped clean out of the stream. We had a good time that day. Depends on where you're at and what the regs are but usually I can catch fish on a gold blade Mepps or Blue Fox in a #2 size... just cast upstream and bring it down with the current. Its about the easiest way I know of to catch trout on hardware.

  • BEEEEEEUUUUUUTTTTTTIIIIFFFFFUUUUULLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GoldenTrout4 ... thanks man, glad you liked it.

  • Thumbs down for stupid yell

  • nice fish there ,bit small though ,nice 2 see u put him back ,wild brownies dissapearing in europe

  • Wow! Your scenery is beautiful.

  • I use live minnows..... crappie usually.

  • @ red dude go spam some where else great vid guys nice to see others enjoying the outdoors

  • cool video, first day is this saturday, im stoked!

  • hey nice fish! Would you join our forum?

  • Cool video, but nothing beats live bait. Check the video on the Collapse-A-Trap

It catches live bait fish and even fits in your tackle box. Even my 5 year old loves it.

  • ive always wanted to do this lol

  • You should give it a shot. Just make sure if you're doing it on artificial fly and lure only waters that you use unscented lures like Zoom flukes or some of the Storm lures.... Berkeley power minnows or Gulp minnows aren't exactly legal around here but with regard to bait, I've been told they're more concerned with folks using worms, cheese or PowerBait dough than they are guys fishing with bass minnows. Guess it depends on the area you fish and the wildlife officers you run into.

  • Respect for CATCHING AND RELEASE.

  • gotta love how the cameraman is more excited than the angler

  • LOL... we were both pretty stoked about it I think.... I just didn't want to lose that fish. For the record I guess, that fish swam off just fine....it wasn't hurt at all and as far as pliers down its throat, I put them in enough to remove the hook and thats it. No ripped gills, hook popped right out, fish was good to go. Thanks for lookin guys, hope you enjoyed the video.

  • yeah i know how you feel

  • hellz yea!!!!!! gtet that fish and eat him up like no tommorow

  • GET IN MAH BELLY

  • I would rather you eat it is that's the case-O I also hate when people rub off all the fishes protective slim coating too and think a weak fish is going to survive.- but what makes me laugh is whenever i encourage a fellow angler to please respect nature it's here not only for you they get all pissed off i say it politely and they explode WOW ... But good job looks like you guys had fun :)

  • But when people catch like a weaker stalker rainbow in summer months and they pick it out of the water- put huge pliers down it's throat and gash and pull at the hook then throw the fish back in the water- while not even trying to rest it a lil and regenerate it's energy to swim off on it's own... does not that piss you off more then ever knowing the fish is going to die?

  • Comment removed

  • hey man try berkeley 3in minnow man u will hit limit easy

  • minnows aigh losers

  • i have calt bigger

  • calt???

  • Haha i think he means "caught"

  • same here i caught a 7 lb. rainbow on a spoon lure.

  • LOL..............WHA CHA USEING???

  • why do you have to stand in the water? your like 3 feet from dry ground.

  • Just to make it look a little bit more PRO! lol

  • yea, I think these guys are spending a little to much time in the stream if you know what I mean.

  • It was actually just a fun little video.... certainly weren't worried about making it look Pro. We're just a couple of average joes who caught some nice fish and tried to get it on video. :-)

  • hahaha so true!!!

  • Uhm. They might need another 4 feet of casting (if the lure is too light it could be hard to get across the string).

Could be a tree or a deeper channel further out.

  • Uhm they might be acting.

  • Thats basically it.... We saw this fish feeding across the creek and using light line and a small minnow, moving into the shallow water let me reach back into the pocket the fish was in without wading way out in the middle and spooking the fish.

  • @imgonnapissuoff its funner

  • @imgonnapissuoff to feel the nature

  • looks like fun. i fish so. ca and i use daredevil skeeters, castmasters and phoebe's and have great luck! panther martins and tiny rooster tails are also deadly. time i went out, i caught a big rainbow using a spin fly and it had a rainbow rooster tial in its mouth. i removed the lure and tied it on and caught 7 more! with the lure the i retireived from the 1st trout!

  • were did you get this plastic minnow?

  • Thanks man.... stream used to be full of them, just like this fish but apparently there was a release of low oxygen water from the dam upstream and it killed off a bunch of fish in the stream.

  • isnt plastic minnows better in streams and rivers with sort of rough current so it pushes the fake minnow around so it looks real?

  • There was a current seam running along the far bank and this brown was holding there to hit food washed by. This creek is pretty slow moving so you have to use the rod to give the lure motion and get the fish to bite.

  • whho is scottie?

  • Scotty P is a guy on the UtahWildlife forums who flyfishes and has gone back and forth with me about the legality of using plastic minnows/baits on some of our local waters.

  • what lure gimmie link or tell em what kinda.

  • what kinda minnow are u using?

  • what kind of minnow is that? is it a banjo minnow?

  • Sorry its taken me forever to respond. It was just a generic plastic minnow from Sportsmans Warehouse. Any of the plastics will work, including Banjo's.

  • how big is it? does it have to be a certain color? how do you jig it? thanks
