I did go in the taped off bits, but you couldn't freely move due to the rubble,
I am not going back as I have no need to, I have filmed & photographed the bunker on 2 occasions and got the best record as possible.
In regards to your message in my inbox, I would NEVER remover anything for myself, that is stealing and it is something I really despise, thief's, whether or not you are stealing from a derelict place, for my there is no difference.
it looked like some of the rooms were roped off why is that why wouldnt you go back its very instresting did ya see something that might have frightened ya
yoooo, ive read the messages saying yu wont hand over the details.... just wondering if you will give me an idea as too where i can find the details or anything like that.... me nd my brother where talking about doing something like this a couple of years back this seems like the perfect one as i live practicaly round the corner from it :D
It's on East Works lol. You won't find any information on this bunker, anywhere as even on the Rover plans of the site, it doesn't exist. This is probably because of the nature of the Shadow Factory scheme at the time, they didn't exactly want to publish the plans/layout of the site to each and everyone in a time of war.
Just for info I was one of the fire crew that mapped all the tunnels and bunkers and pumped all the water out of them, trust me I spent six months doing it
This goes no where near the flight shed and it is laid out in completely the wrong direction, I really think you are getting this mixed up, Although, if you say you spent 6 months mapping them, you can always send me a private message pinpointing where you think this bunker is on the map.
The Shadow Factory is the tunnel that links the East Works to the Flight Shed, and I filmed under there too, you can find that video with my other videos titled.. 'Longbridge Tunnels Under Rover MG Austin'
Trust me.... Your not even close.... Your talking about an old service tunnel that ran from east works to under the flight shed, west works didn't have any tunnels... One bunker/ war room was demolished when north works/ lower south works was levelled, it was where the south works LPS was... The last remaining bunker which is due for demolition in the next month or so and is nowhere near where this was filmed
@n236kfl -I think you are referring to trentham/no 2 paint which has just been demolished. Some of us used to go down the spiral staircase to it in the early 90's. Still brings a tear when i sometimes pass. As for no one going down there since the 70's , if its the same one, we did in 1990 and can give names. They can't sack us now
No...not even close.......no where near the WW2 (war room) Bunker, what your looking at is an old service tunnel, the war room has the old submarine oval blast doors and has a spiral staircase that leads to it that goes down about 40 foot, also i hate to be the one that points this out but i nobody has been down there sinces the 70's at 3:00 where did the can of tango come from!!. There is a war room bunker at longbridge complete with AA (anti aircraft) gun rotas still on the walls.
There are many WW2 bunkers dotted around Longbridge, not just one. The site that this is under was built to make fighter planes and bombers DURING WW2 under the Government Shadow Factory scheme.
I know the one you are describing but that is on West Works, not East Works. As much as you might think you are right and I am wrong, this is NOT a tunnel, it is a bunker, you could have only entered it by stairwells under the factory above. Why would a service tunnel have so many toilets?
Thank you i know all about this bunker but like mgzt52 i am not prepared to give its exact location, this was used by the fire service for practice runs as i was part of the team who worked at the plant who surveyed all of the tunnel runs under the plant, the tape off areas were where the fire service practiced search and rescue. Deano
Great video thanks for sharing. I find it interesting as I live right by the Rover plant. I have to say that you are braver than me. What would you do if your torches stop working? It looks like you could easily get lost in there.
a LOT of research went into finding this bunker (not a tunnel), if you want to see it then by all means research it's where-a-bouts yourself, but Im not going to hand out info to where it's located, especially as I have never met you and don't know what you may end up doing to it.
