That vein you felt may have been a stiff muscle or swollen lymph node... when someone sleeps wrong a muscle in their neck would stiffen and it'd hurt to turn your head a certain way, and when you're sick the lymph nodes in your neck swell up.

Nerd-Niah aside, the animation is REALLY smooth! Five stars ^^
