Why rolled uo sleeves suck for Marines

Where is this? looks like Quantico... but then again I guess most marine bases probably look the same.... Anyway policy changed didnt it? like in 2011? long sleeves dont seem like they will help much but the material is designed to conserve moisture and heat so as soon as you start sweating with long sleeves it should get better. If not well... you are a marine...

I am pretty sure the USMC issues jackets for this kind of weather... I mean the MARPAT also comes in snow camouflage so it would make no sense if they had nothing for cold weather conditions

@yourkidkabaap That was just an experimental design. No one gets issued that. Except for tests in winter warfare. Marines deployed into combat zones may or may not get issued the GORE-TEX jackets that are wind and weather resistant. But most of the times they won't get them, and they'll have to buy them themselves. And they are very expensive. And not issued in snow camo.. Most guys get them in Desert MARPAT. Because it gets cold as fuck in the 'ghan.

If I remember right, when I was in, the sleeves up or down was seasonal. An order put out by HQMC.

Depending on what you were doing, your immediate commander...meaning your company or battalion CO, could temporarily order sleeves up or down as it made sense to do so for whatever you were working on.

Then again...we're talking about Marine officers and how they make decisions while units are "in garrison" and not in the field...

@VoodooPolitico I'm guessin you are either a green horn or just not military, cause I knew I was picking up CPL 3 months out from my promotion. if you are smart you can simply figure this out by coordinating with S1/S3 to keep you updated on the score, also by keeping an eye on your MOS you'll see who's getting out and how many will be needed to fill that spot. if a Master guns gets out, they have to fill the spot, and that goes from top down. and the lower the rank, the more spots open up.
