It should be the adoptive parents who learn about these other cultures and their differences before they try to adopt. Since you have decided to adopted transracially, you should already have an interest in that child's culture. it should not be left up the agency to "train" these parents culturally for the differences they may encounter with the child.
If blacks were adopting sufficiently, this questions would not arise...But we don't..And we hate on the whites who actually step in to give the kids a loving home. smdh
colorblind is totally unreal. if you deny them their heritage then you lie to them. ]but foster care is out of control. kids need homes and if white people can provide for them so be it
The people that advocate same-'race' adoption don't care about these children, they only care about politics. Meanwhile thousands of these children will languish in state or foster care without the love and stability of a permanent home. Love, security and stability should ALWAYS, ALWAYS come first!
As a black man, I appreciate what the father said. Don't try to change them into white kids. Just be the white parent who loves their black children. The fact that he is not blind to the need to give his children access to their heritage deserves an adda boy.
@wmthomas28 Thank you so much! I'll pass that on to him. We've really tried to educate them about the black culture (and history) and help them develop a sense of appreciation for it. Hopefully, we're doing ok. (: Btw, we also adopted their biological little sister (after this interview). Thanks for watching!
@wmthomas28 I agree with you. I've seen countless transracial adoptions that were sucessful. But HONESTLY, ALL parents should introduce their children to ALL cultures. Regardles of race. Teach them, that there is only one race of people. HUMAN. :) I've learned at an early age, that it is very important to think outside of the box.
@MyFlipNWorld Sure, just send a self-addressed, stamped envelope... lol. ( ; Thanks, it was exciting. My friend works at the station and they wanted to include a trans-racial family, so they called us. ( :
