Clay season is upon us and federer is shitting himself again i'm sure. Nadal will destroy him even worse than last time, if thats possible? 6-0 6-0 6-0, yep that sounds perfect! Roger take my advice, practise the nappy changing for both yourself and your offspring.
it's a real pity to see people talk so much w/o a clue as to what they're really saying. there's a reason why you rarely see top 10 players over the age of 30 and that's b/c the cardiorespiratory fitness & strength of a human begins to decrease at around 30. so age Does matter, it's a scientific fact. i suggest you pick up a book instead of thoughtlessly commenting. that said, federer has 2.5 yrs to 30 so plenty of time for things to be interesting w/ more youngsters moving up.
dude, a pro goal keeper does need a good fitness. for example, u have to be able to reach stuff and run to the ball fast to catch it. reaction is much faster than in tennis (for example, penalty busters are known for their short reaction time)
and, not only goal keeper but mid fielders like zinedine zidane played soccer until he reached near 40.
Plus, in soccer, one is more likely to get injured
pro goalkeeper needs faster reactions than a pro tennis player what have you been watching lol first of all football is a team sport unlike tennis singles so you cannot compare the two and the ball is moving at like 90 mph between these two so you do the math
you know what, both balls travel at roughly same speed. (well, tennis goes over 100mph consistently, while soccer (football if u wanna call it) ball goes at 80-90 average.
But:
- Soccer ball curves A LOT more than tennis ball.
-Soccer balls are kicked like15m from the goal on average. most attacks (like of Barcelona), they are as close as 4-5 m from the goal. whie in tennis, the two baseliners would be, on average, roughly 25m from each other.
-in tennis, if the ball doesnt bounce, its out and you DONT have to get it. in soccer, the ball might go in the goal whether it bounces or not, so u DO have to get it. and remember, im talking about a goal that is 8 feet tall and 7.3m wide, almost as wide as tennis single court. again, keepers dont use rackets ;)
- in tennis, you kno when players hit their balls. in soccer, goalies are sometimes surprised by shots that are out of no where, unexpected.
In both sports you need to react as soon as possible to be as effective as possible. One doesn't need faster reactions than the other. The faster your reactions are in either sport, the better.
what the fuck are you talking about? lol the comparisions have no relations at all. That's as stupid as saying "in tennis players use a racquet, which are not biologically part of the human body, but soccer players use their feet, which are part of their body"
Yeah, and since Federer has played more than 700 games, and won in most of them, he would be having at least 550 grand slams or maybe even more. If you can not appreciate someone's hard work, the piss off. So what? Its hard to even win one grand slam. Tennis is not an easy game to play, so piss if you cant' aprreciate someone's work.
DP7CR7 , your prejudice renders your opinion immaterial . I'm a rafa fan but i do acknowledge federer's achievements. Rafa's humility and humble attitude is a lesson for all of his fans and I humbly support Rafa. Too bad I can't learn anything from federer's attitude.
Nadal is 22 --> 6 Grand Slams titles won. When Federer was 22 - 2 Grand Slam titles won. When Nadal is 27 let's suppose he'll have won more than 14 :]
Well, thats just an speculation. It doesn't look like Federer is going to give up. Btw, WHY does age matter? Its more about the game, then the age. If people are fit and strong enough, and avoid injuries, they have a good chance of playing until 40. Its extremely rude to compare with ages that people over 35 are weak.
thats if someone doesnt show up to stop him before he can achieve that, like how fed was on the brink multple times before nadal stopped him. For all we know it could be Ryan Harrison that breaks sampras' record.
See, RF games, if you try and analyzed it, he likes to run around that 4hand to hit an inside out 4hand.

well, i dont play much tennis.
but for soccer, people play until they are around 40. (unless they are seriously injured...)
for example, van der sar is like 37, but his reflex and reaction are still as fast as they were 10 years ago
animaanimaanima 2 years ago
you cant compare a goalkeeper and a top ten tennisplayer!
a goalkeeper doesnt need lots of stamina, fitness & strength, reflex and reaction compared to a worldclassplayer like federer!
do you think nadal is able to play his style until 40- its a bad joke!

goalkeepers need experience...but for tennis, you need that explosive strength.
199373 2 years ago
well, goalkeepers need lots of strength to jump that high and lots of force to kick the ball (or clearance)

agreed, but in tennis, you needa keep up with that. while GK's need a max of 120 mins.(and remember, they don't usually need to save all the time).
while people like nadal keep running around, blasting the ball for more than 3 hours =/
