I read about the electric dirt bikes. They are more expensive, and the battery only lasts about 30 min - 1 hour.

even if these things did have more power than gas motors. You would only get like 4hrs of riding time. And for the battery to start dieing at the base of a 80ft jump would be disasterous. And this is a (mini) moto track, for pit bikes (110cc). It would not do good on a real track.

Actually the electric motor is more powerful (more torque) than a similar gasoline engine. So the electric would drop those piles of gasoline engines.

Gas engines are peaky, electrics are flat torque throughout its ENTIRE revs.

Future of MX here, no noise like BMX, running costs and maintenance should be a lot cheaper, and more affordable meaning more riders = more challenge. No city and neighborhood restrictions, no noise no pollution perfect.

I have two of them with plenty of moto and mountain bike experience, put to an electrocross bike delivers a surprisingly good time. There is more power than you need for trail riding and you can talk to your buddies while you are doing it. If you are used to moto, that is the weirdest sensation, a perfectly quiet ripping machine. It definitely enhances the fun in a group ride! Night rides with dual beams is hard to beat...then you can take it to a golf course stealth mission, did I say that?

Actually with the electric bikes that are out at the time the power and speed are equal to a 250 4 stroke. they even have a faster 0-60mph time and have as much power at 1 mph that it does at 80 mph. plus the run time at top speed has been over 2.5 hours long. not to mention its dirt cheap to maintain cuz you can use you PC to change anything from power to top speed. the only down side i can find is that it takes 2-3 hours to charge the battery.
