When I opened up that textedit for hosts, I had none of those numbers or any of those what seems to be websites. I just copied what you had on yours and added them my self to my hosts and then continued to follow your instructions ... not sure if it worked yet since its not done just yet. I have been trying to update to 5.0 but you've been the only one to help properly so thanks.

To use this fix in windows I used the search function to search for "hosts". there were 2, one was affiliiated with umbrella, and the other one with nothing. i opened them using ms word, and the were the same. I only had one line with anything to do with apple, so i added the "#" in front of that number. then i saved it, and closed it. opened itunes and hit restore. worked perfectly from there, no errors. thanks for the video!

Hey, so your full method didn't work for me, but it definitely helped. I used redsn0w to go into DFU mode and then I basically just clicked restore and update and that seemed to work for me... took a really long time and it restored twice before it worked. I went from 4.3.3 on my iPhone 4 to 5.0
