That's probably because this game doesn't take advantage of 4 cores and dual gfx cards. im pretty sure he will get higher fps in a gme like crysis or far cry 2
I'm not too familiar with your Mobo (haven't looked at hardware since my last build)...but everything else looks good. The video cards are great, I haven't had a problem.
Out of 10? I'd give it an 8 (Only b/c I don't know much about the Mobo)
By reading the description I see you have a Asus P5E but there are many derivatives of the board i.e., deluxe, P5E-WE-PRO or deluxe version. What board do you have specifically? Thanks
i checked the website and 450w for one and minimum of 550w for cross fire a good 600w should be good but a corsair or pc power and cooling 750w would be better
I have 6-7 hard drives, a few USB devices, slightly OC'd CPU. I got 750W because it was recommended to me elsewhere and 750W should be good for a small upgrade or two.
hey..is this card worth getting for my ne wpc? i mean jsut oen of them with 2gb of good ram andyour average amd athlon x2 6000+ at 3ghz?? i reckon ill be able to play some decent games on it?
It's really worth it. I bought the HD 4850 and played GRID in 1680x1050 with everything enabled. It's totally fluent, fast and real-time. I've got the HD 4850 for a month now and this card's processing power is stunning. I can play every demanding game with ease. For a card less than $200 it's most certainly worth purchasing. Especially GRID with this card is eye-popping.
i got the same card (and amd 6000)and i play to crysis at 1600 x 1200 no aa everything high , thank s to the new zti driver whit fps 18 to 80 (it s incredible) i hope with the november driver to have a more stable fps . godd news teh new ati driver of this month get an easy overclock
I saw a bit of slowdown on the corner of that track. Tut-tut, you'll have to upgrade to a 4870x2. ;-) Seriously though, at 1650x1050 with maximum eye candy and 2 AA I get about 130 FPS, which is overkill, and that's using a single Radeon 4850 card (which cost me £110) paired with a Phenom 9550 quad core.
i want to know how you guys are buying all these spec components.. What are your days jobs ?????? or do you guys have rich parents or sumthing.. i just want to know bcuz..i would like to build a super sweet computer some day.
Hi there. I couldn't afford expensive components until recently (still running Athlon XP 3000+ (£22 ebay upgrade) / GeForce 6200 up to last week), I finished uni and now work as a software developer. Living with parents helps reduce outgoings :-) I think some kids work part-time jobs solely to buy computer gear. Some idiots spend their student loan like water, I could pay mine off in a few months.
If you live at your parents and don't need to spend money to live, you could have 1k pretty quickly, that should get u an e8500 (3.16ghz dual core- a ati 4850, 4gb ddr2 ram, antec 900) that would play all the new games really good ;)
right on, right on... gamin is just a pass time (or is it past time? heh, no idea), but makin yo real life better is forever! and that even rhymes! :P heh...
i rob banks and kidnap rich peoples kids and then hold em for, like, totally ridiculous ransoms... my next target is paris hilton... as a kid of course...
i also do translation work, teach english and am a cisco computer network specialist :)
I don't doubt it. However this is a HTPC, I run a Gateway 24" monitor its my TV with Vista Media Center. I'm not interested in Cryris at all. I bought my last video card in 2003 (AIW 9600XT), I want to play GRID on Ultra@1920x1200, AAx4, no stutting, no slowdown and the IGP won't cut it of course, I want to buy a new card and I have spent days looking at vids on here. Just trying to save money otherwise an HD4870 is a no-brainer...
2400 was better than my 9600XT AIW, but I never played a game on it, didn't have it more than a week, UVD didn't work. I just picked up a HD3870, seriously considered a HD3650 as I know this is temp card and looking towards the HD4850x2. Going to up the clock to 3.3Ghz (2.91Ghz currently) on my 5000+ BE and I should be just fine with most games...
Yeah but what 800x600? Run it at 1900x1200 on Ultra with your 2900xt and I doubt it would run that smoothly. 2xxx cards were a joke and the 3xxxx cards are barely better, the 4xxxx has put ATI back on top and 2 Crossfire 4's will kill a 280GT and cost less in doing so, if your board supports it.
the ORIGINAL full version does not run on my pc. i dunno why. i have deactivated all my virtual drives. used -novirtual. uninstalled antivir. shut down firewall. updated video, sound, and chipset drivers. updated directx.
Do you have new drivers because the last thing I heared was that Race Driver GRID is not supporting the 4850 in crossfire mode. So that might be just one 4850. An Answer would be great because I consider buying 2 4850 to run them in crossfire. :)
ye your right - the brand doesn't actually matter, the card will be the same but it will sometimes cost more because it will bundle a game or a longer warranty.
so go for the cheaper one if your going to buy a 4850 - because at the moment, they are all the same to be honest.
200$ per card? i'm buying one HD4850 (also Sapphire) for 150 euro's. can't wait to install it into my system, currently playing on a 7900gt 512mb GPU, e8400 processor and 600w gpu.
I heard that the hd 4850 crossfire doesn't really do any better than a single hd 4850 because of the driver not supporting it really well but hopefully the updated driver should increase the performance to make it go 100fps>.
hey man, what kind of performance can i get with: a Q6600 G0 OC'd to 3 GHz, a single visiontek HD 4850, 4 gigs of GSkill MQ 800 mhz, on a gigabyte -GA-EP35-DS3R mobo, with a 500 gb 7200 rpm 16 mb cache HDD?? i was hoping 100 % max settings with 4xaa and 16x af at 1280x1024 (limited by 17" monitor)can i get that?
Also... you should be getting WAAAAY better frames per second than that with that setup... unless... what in-game setting are you ACTUALLY using? 16x QAA, 16xAF + all max? Cause for that setup is a bit of an overkill for "just" a 21" monitor(not that it's a bad thing).
2 HD4850's take 460W At peak load. I recommend a very good quality PSU if your gonna run at 550W or even 600W. For best I recommend the Corsair 620W Powersupply. For me i bought the 750W just to be safe
Or better still, get the 1500W Silverstone Godlike FTW! Edition PSU... LOL... "just to be safe"...
You do know that that "peak load" refers to the full system right? Also peak load = all HDDs spin-up, CPU 100% usage on all cores, maximum RAM reads and writes, PCI-Express and graphics card at maximul transfer rate/usage and what not... ALL at the same time. And the maximul that it can touch during that time.
how the f*** did you get almost 100 fps on such a game with a 2.6 Ghz CPU (sorry if i am saying stupid stuff)P.S i say this because i think (now) that you have a single core CPU. PPS I'm almost sure i'm wrong! PPPS. Is that because of the pwning GPU and the "cool" cooling system?

The average was around 80...I rarely dipped below that, it fluctuated between 70-99 or so.

the pure xfire board is the 790fx from amd coupled with the new 750sb. Well you can still use an intel x48 board for dual fire setup.

Possibly, I heard 550W was the minimum..I'd check around Google though, I'd feel bad if I were wrong. Good luck.
