@imprezaver4 Football in 50's was walking pace, it lacked athletes and the defences lacked cohesion and did not work as well as a team. A full back could dribble to within 30 meters of an opposing goal barely challenged. Oh and by the way - cheating was so rife then that one player placed half of a lemon behind the ball when there was a penalty so that it missed. There was drugs, alcohol abuse and racism. Football from the mid 90's on was FAR better. Garrincha and Gento would be useless now.

I agree it's faster and a better standard, but the greats just of the english game would still dominate in today's leagues, Charlton, Best, Law, Dalglish, Keegan, Robson, Gazza, Lineker etc, in my opinion would be earning a fortune.

I just can't see it. Garrincha suffered diabetes, both his legs were bent and he was a raging alcoholic. I just can't look at him, how he beat players and his general IQ and say he is amongst the likes of Ronaldinho, Cruyff, Laudrup, Totti, Matthaus, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Maradona, Romário, Henry, Zidane, Raúl, Kaká, Giggs, Figo, Rummenigge, Messi, Savicevic, Djalminha etc. I see him more as being like Denilson, Le Tissier, McManaman and Robinho. very good to watch but not world class! @SuperMillsta Yes!! Good ol' Dejan, Darko, Piksi etc. I loved that era of great Eastern Europeans! I am English so I had to really really hunt for DVDs and stuff but it was worth it. Dejan was an absolute wizard on the ball and I've always felt so sorry for Darko who never got to play that world cup. :( In that year he was unstoppable. :D It is definitely interesting about Garrincha and I will concede that if you're gonna pick someone from that era then he's a good one. BUT he was always most effective attacking the center from the left. pretty much what he is doing for barca, he only plays wide when they play 3 up front. wenger used to do that too. not the same as lineker out wide, lineker was a massive danger in and around the box and not much else ;)
