I don't want to say you've forgotten anyone, because it is definitely an opinion matter. But an honest question: what does everyone have against US gymnasts? I would never say that they are all the best, but sometimes I think they are passed over just because they are American, not because they are bad gymnasts...

I absolutely LOVE Anna Pavlova, it's so unfortunate that she hasn't become as big a name as someone like Korkhina. But in all honesty that sort of adds to the charm! I think you're bang on with that top ten :)

Well... you've forgotten Nastia, and Shawn, and Amanar, and Raducan, and Zamolochnikova, and Karpenko... and obviously, but obviously, you've forgotten Svetlana.

You seem not to agree with the judges at all because there are no "big names" here. Kozich was european champ and Nan was 3rd in Athens, and that's it.

@Querzeo maybe they are more into the artsy gymnasts.. as I am also -,- Shawn moves like a brick house... fantastic gymnast, duh, she wins... but for some, the scoreboards aren't what matters. Omelianchik said it right when she told a columnist "I wish there were two kinds of competitions: One for difficulty, and another for veterans who perform with beauty and for the pleasure of the spectators." I will say I was sad not to see Catalina Ponor on this list though!

Pavlova, Kozich, Lobaznyuk, Zhang Nan, Semenova, LePennec and Defournet are great choices...Only one I would add is Alana Slater..

Do you have something against American gymnasts? I mean they have been all over the AA scene in the past decade and the last two Olympic AA gold medals have gone to an American and yet you don't have a single American gymnast on your list. I mean I'm not saying you need a ton of American gymnasts on here, but I would think maybe one or two. And no Nastia is not one of those two lol

Although, maybe that's how gymnasts gain recognition: their fans watch lists like this only to see if there favorite gymnast is here, and then express vehement outrage when they are, shockingly, not included. So that's what I'm going to start doing. From now on, I will watch all sorts of montages and question why Ana Porgras is discluded, even when she's not entirely relevent. Like in "Favorite Vaulters" montages. 'Cause she never seems to be included, which is sad.

So, where's Ana Porgras? :)

I like that Anna Pavlova's number one. She's been so underscored internationally and she's deserved so many more medals at Worlds and in the Olympics then she's gotten. And I only recently started paying attention to Ksenia Semenova but I really like her style so I'm happy she's there. And, quite frankly, I'm tired of this whole "Where's Shawn/ Nastia/ Popular American Gymnast" thing, too. I don't mind Shawn, but I don't love her and Nastia's routines put me to sleep. Both are way overrated.

@FallenRose101 I like Shawn actually but I think the biggest help to them and Carly Patterson in 2004 was that Catalina Ponor, Cheng Fei, Alicia Sacramone did not do bars because all three of them had the scores on the other three pieces to be serious AA contenders. I think this montage reflects the gymnasts that non-Americans like the most.

@msalasan I'm not really sure. As an all arounder I think Nistor is a little better because of her bars, Raducan's weren't fabulous, though Raducan had better vaults. I just find myself prefering Nistor

I was just wondering, mostly because you usually choose artistic gymnast and don't like the ones based on force.

I am so happy, finally there is no more shouting of 'Nastia Nastia Shawn Shawn' anymore. I still dislike Nastia's beam routine compared to Yang Bo's (despite different era). I also feel sad, because the gymnasts who make it into your list are wonderful but some of them were not so consistent or underrated. But I support your choices! :D Love Pavlova too.

@Hasoginy What's wrong with liking Nastia & Shawn? Shawn was an amazing beam worker. I get that not everyone likes the same gymnasts but some people just seem so bitter that these two were so popular.

@CaliKitty17: I am not a particular fan of them, but one thing about Nastia that I really really like--her pirouette with leg at horizontal on balance beam, and how Shawn connects her moves on balance beam (although many people says she lack artistry on beam, which I sometimes agree, I am still amazed of how she tumbles on the beam).

i honestly think in my opinion as someone who has followed gymnastics since 1988 ,, that Anna Pavlova is the most underated gymnast ever,, shes always the 4th one out,, but her gymnastics is actually as good as the gole medal winners

i love anna pavlova! she has grace and power, most gymnasts only have one or the other. my only problem with nastia haters is that i feel like a lot of the time they are just trying to be different and not love someone as famous as her but i was just thinking she is famous for a reason...because she's amazing. i like your choices, except yang yilin.  im not that big of a fan of hers. i think she's really good but not like legendary. and that pic of #3...sooooo cool!

I think, lots of poeple dislike Nastia because of he success. I think she is not as great a she is said. She has awful forms on some move, is not really artistic, and don't get deduct on some mistakes. However, she is always overscored and get te fascinatin of the audience. As a consequence, great gymnat like Pav, (my favorite) get so often forgotten, underscored and ou of medal. It's my point of view :)
