I think the reason that F&G was able to beat Opinion Poll in the Gold Cup was that 2-1/2m was about 1/2m further than you'll ideally see Opinion Poll at his best. And the class of F&G took over the final 1/2m at Ascot that day. But dropped back to 2m, he's taken the Goodwood and Lonsdale Cup's back to back. At 1-3/4 to 2m, I think F&G would be vulnerable to defeat from Opinion Poll. As he just got clipped by the mare, Fictional Account, over 1-3/4 in Ireland in the Irish St. Leger Trial. JMO.
