@ducdejoyeuse Martinism originated in the second half of the 18th century, whereas the rosicrucian manuscripts circulated as early as 1610. There is no connection between the two. While martinism might be influenced by the gold- und rosenkreuz, it certainly has no connection to the original manifestoes. You should always make a distinction between the manifestoes and the later rosicrucian currents; they are not the same thing.

@ducdejoyeuse I said german in character - as in, they are so clearly influenced by german currents and are so full of early german nationalism (a hallmark of the rosicrucian tradition) that they couldn't possibly have been written in an english context. General academic consensus is also that Andreae wrote the chymische hochzeit, so I'm curious what books you are referring to. I've never heard of a french temple connection - please enlighten me on this point.

@ducdejoyeuse No it wasn't. It was written by the german lutheran pastor johann valentin andreae. Have you actually read the chymische hochzeit and the fama and confessio? The early rosicrucian tracts are so decidedly german in character that I really don't understand how anyone could propose they were written in England.
