  • The retaining walls and the dirty track look really good in this clip. Are you going to put in a back scene or leave the blue? Nice layout.

  • Im LOVIN the weathering on the tracks and rolling stock!!! Im not into European trains but this is good watching!!! I like it!!

  • Perfect :)

  • where did you buy the retaining walls from ?

  • @hihat101 You can't buy them, I made them.

  • Great weathering job! Continue on with the great job!

  • so do you apply roof dirt and then sleeper grime?

  • @JJamessssss sleeper grime first, a bit of roof dirt over the top.

  • realy enjoyable to watch, when get some space this is what i will have,10 coach trains and realistic track i have foam with balast infills,it keps thing quiet but foam is foam great work mate

  • Another great video and I really like your weathering. Be great to see a video on how you do it.

Also is that a Peco train shed?

  • @MansfieldCS Thanks, a vid on how to do it will be up in the next few days

  • Hi nice video, i happen to be selling 2 Network Southeast brake coaches which are in brilliant condition and they're goin real cheap, was just wondering if you were interested?

  • @jakedcps If they were the second class TSO mk2 coaches I would be very interested, but i'm afraid I already have enough brake coaches.

  • no worries. have a good holiday then :)

  • does the paint effect the rails in any way e.g. damaging locos or decrease of power pick up from the track to the locos?

  • @banjostrings07 As long as the surface of the rail is clean you should have no problems

  • Track work and ballast look really good, adds that realism...

Locos and stock also very realistic..

Interesting you run your trains in European direction..

    Well done..

  • @mljones21 Thanks, usually trains run in the normal direction, the 50 on the middle track has been rebuilt and was being tested in both directions.

  • Track work and ballast look really good, adds that realism...

Locos and stock also very realistic..

Interesting you run your trains in European direction..

    Well done..

  • @zilte2 Will be doing a vid on that in a few weeks

  • thanks! I've only had it 2 days and the body has been off countless times! i also got a class 58 and that run's very well! just wondering when the next video will be? and if you can do one about how you do the poly filler? thanks again :)

  • @Pearson4472 The 58 is a very nice model. The next vid will be a little while as i'm on holiday at the moment.

  • great layout! cant wait to see more of it! I've just got a class 56 and I've had lots of problems getting the lights to work! have you had any problems with yours?

  • @Pearson4472 Oh yes, many, many, many problems. The model is great but the lights are poorly designed. Each light relies on a sprung bit of metal contacting a contact on the chassis. All I can say is to take to body off and adjust the contacts until the lights work. Sometimes grabbing the body end and giving a push from side to side will get them working. The tightness of the screws holding the body on also affects the contacts.

The lights will work, it just takes a lot of tinkering.

  • @drwhotrainfan Thanks

  • such a realisitc layout its amazing with the static grass!!

  • @TheGazinator1 Thanks mate

  • Great video as usual. I am trying to develop my own loft layout and find your work inspirational.

  • @BigSavi1 Thanks mate, good luck with your layout

  • Hi Rich, re:- gower2880. What he means is that rail traffic generally follows the same as cars on a road. ie:- traffic stays to the left lane in any direction. There are a few exeptions as in single track. there are also fast and slow tracks on four track systems.

  • @spitfirecaptain Oh I see, I do generally stick to that normally. The class 50 is still being tested at the moment so it is running in all directions. Other trains on the middle track are running from left to right. Trains on the outer run from right to left.

  • @spitfirecaptain yes he is correct, it would add a REAL dimension to what i believe to be a VERY well modelled layout :D

  • Would also like to add that its great to see you running your locos at realistic speeds. Many people seem to thrash the locos round at high speed which just spoils everything they have created. Great stuff keep it up.

I've been a youtube member for over 5 yeays now and you layout is the first time I have felt like leaving a post. Looking forward to the next clip. Best regards Lee

  • @gridler Thanks again, glad you like the layout.

  • Hi I have been watching your video clips for a while now and recentely subscribed to you. I have to say that your layout is really coming along very well the bits you have done so far look great and things are starting to look realistic.

Your weathering of the locos is just right, the 56 looks great as do they all. The track work is also looking very real love the fact that you have left short lengths of steel rail on the sleepers of your mainline. All these little things make for great viewing.

  • @gridler Thanks mate, I find a lot of loco weathering is "overdone" so I try to match my locos to real pics. The old rail made a nice difference. It wasn't until I looked a some pics that I realised how much is left on the line.

  • Are your coaches close-coupled? Also you should run trains in the correct directions!!

Weathering and track ballast looks REALLY neat and tidy. Great work :D

  • @gower2880 Thanks mate, the coaches are close coupled. Could you explain correct direction - I didn't think there was a correct direction for a diesel.

  • awesome video!!

  • @BALD8BIL Thanks mate

  • Do you still run the Deltic? Great workme the track

  • @gadgetinfo The deltic comes out sometimes. It's my dads model so I don't tend to use it.

  • Top notch and a great credit to you .

  • @REGWARNE12 Thanks mate

  • really good work mate. you should be proud of your self for the wrok you have done

  • @southwesttrain159 Thanks, I'm really pleased with this area now.

  • @EverardJunction you should be for all the hard work you have put in. Have you got any idea for a road viaduct( basically i want a road going over the track and i was thinking of doing a viaduct over it.) any tips

  • @southwesttrain159 An easy way to make a road bridge is use plasticard and somthing like peco girders sides. Then you can make it to your own design, rather than trying to make off the shelf items fit the space you have. That said some of the hornby scaledale and other kits are quite good.

  • @EverardJunction cheers i will look into that

  • Brilliant as always!!!

  • @BMR5ify Thanks mate

  • Looking fab as always - bet you can't wait to set the airbrush loose on the 60 and those Shell tankers!! :)

  • @Mooresbytube1 Thanks mate. I'm looking forward to sorting those tankers out, far too clean.

  • i wish my layout was as good as yours!

  • @ps3nut17 With practise is could be, I've been doing this for 7 years.

  • Excelent video.... as always ....

  • @RGTNEREU Thank you

  • great video ..

  • @Willowfs4472 cheers mate

  • Wow it makes it look real Nice AirBrushing

  • @TruckerJamesHorrell Thanks mate

  • Great video. Is that OO gauge or HO?

  • @fletcho909 OO gauge

  • Fantastic mate, trains, track and ballast weathering spot on. What a nice way to spend seven mins, cheers

  • @ThePudge1976 Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it.

  • You know Rich this has come along way since you first showed me the Railway all those months ago. It looks incredibly realistic with the weathered track and the static grass and the beat up looking trains. Very Impressed, You have a natural talent for this line of work and i genuinely look forward to seeing the next major change. Very good job mate !

  • @SamueleusPlaythrough Thanks mate, you'll have to come over again at some point to see it for real.

  • wow thats so stunning, looking good now mate

  • @mongoosekid14 Thanks mate

  • There are some really good view points featured in this video. I especially like the view across the depot with the mainlines in the background, very good.

  • @60026to Thanks mate, some of the angles came out really well.

  • Very nice! Looking better than ever.

  • @XTGEcolditz Thanks mate

  • @EverardJunction Did you just Everard Junction up with your mind? Because if you did its damn good.

  • @XTGEcolditz Everard is my grandad's middle name. I combined it with junction and the layout was born.

  • Excellent video mate, fantastic looking layout and I've really enjoyed watching it come together. Have you considered making it extra grimy and oily between the rails where the locos spent lots of time stationary- from oil leaks and the like. For instance in the TMDs and in the station?

  • @hhnf103 Thanks mate, I've done some oily areas, but there not finished yet.

  • can you make a video on airbrushing track please!!!!

  • @GreenValleyRailway Will do mate

  • wow that airbrush has made a real difference, its all starting to look very realistic along with the static grass. ive so got to get me an applicator.did you use sleeper grime on the track?. a job very well done and very good video.

  • @bloodmarine77 Thanks mate, I used a sleeper grime and roof dirt.

  • That weathering is fantastic, really adds to the feel of the layout! :D

  • Nice ideo, it really makes your lyout even more real!

  • Great work it makes it look so much better!

  • @ipodwindow Thanks mate, I wasn't expecting much of a difference but I couldn't believe it when I finished.

  • i need an airbrush!!!! another excellent video mate!

  • @TOMX45 Thanks, it is a great tool to have.

  • Great video once again!

  • @spavalleyfan Thanks
