@praskagi No, the person in the game did. This is an interactive game where you are a person and shit like this happens. So, the camera didn't die, the guy did.
Wooo go 4870 X2!! Haha we just burnt ours out playing Crysis cos the PSU wasn't powerful enough =\ I have to say, you've done an excellent job on this video, it's very professionally done, well done =)
@SEGAfan333 I was using prefabricated structures included with the editor so unfortunately I had no way to make them split apart - it would have been cool though!
@Kill9533224 The tornado is an effect bundled with the editor (that comes with Crysis). You can place one in a map and give it certain parameters; strength, movement etc.
@raver0ller You're right! In the game's defence though the house is just a physical object that - in this case - was sat *on* the ground as opposed to being fixed to it. As far as the game would have been concerned I guess it would have treated the structure as a simple object that would move if enough force was applied to it. The fact that to us it's a house and the movement looks weird is irrelevant as far as the physics engine is concerned!
Oh, yeah, since my CPU isn't the best Most thing are high, water is very high but post processing and physics are on medium. But I have everything on very high in sandbox where I was testing it.
@ThaGamerzParadise Unfortunately I lost the original map and haven't remade it. I am contemplating doing so, if I make a new version I will post the video on Youtube and include a link to the map file - no guarantees though. Sorry it took so long to reply.
What kind of Rig do you have to run it so smoothly? Could I run this on my setup?
3.6GHZ Intel Core 2 Quad
Zalman 9700 CPU Heatsink
EVGA 780i Tri SLI Motherboard
Nvidia GTX 275 OC GPU.
2X500GB Hard Drive in Raid-0 plus 2 terabytes of additional storage
I am planning on getting another GTX 275 OC but they are out of stock everywhere. I want to run a massive physics simulation on the CE2 but i haven't attempted it yet.
@illmagnified I am running a Q6600 OCed to 3.6ghz, 8gb of nothing-special RAM, a 2gb 4870X2 and a stack of hard drives. This was not recorded in real time (hence there's no sound) but rather rendered frame by frame by the game engine and then animated afterwards. This permitted a smooth video without requiring a super computer!

That is some really terrible physics! Horrible! Did anyone notice how several pieces of metal just floated in the air as if the weight of a feather? unbelievable!
They are the foundations of the houses; they should have been anchored in to the ground before I did the test. Given that they should be anchored to the ground they don't have plausible physical properties as they're never supposed to be in the air.
@egtodd09 It's not unbelievable... it's a game. It's game physics. Wow, you sure are dumb as fuck, if any game has good physics, it is this one, sure as shit!
@egtodd09 Those pieces were designed to be anchored/embedded/whatever in to the ground but I didn't do so. I guess that - as they were never intended to be airborne - that portion of their attributes is (more than) a bit wonky!
and his system might not be able to handle it...he could be having 3fps in this video for all we know thats the point of his method, it makes it like 100fps when the pics are compressed and made into whatever video format...
There is a method that you can use in Crysis that exports every rendered frame as a JPEG. Using that, I ran the scene and Crysis automatically saved every rendered frame, leaving me with a huge stack of files.
I was then able to animate all those frames with the end result being this video.
Doing it by this method makes recording sound impossible but it enables you to run "simulations" that are far too intensive for the PC to draw smoothly in real-time.
If I was making the software I would base the behavior of the debris on footage of tornadoes. Some debris would be picked up by the tornado and continue to swirl around it.
I'm not sure if Crysis is powered by PhysX, is it? If so that doesn't say much for hardware-accelerated PhysX as I run the game on a Radeon and it performs just fine...
I don't know why someone gave you a thumb-down :S Anyway the tornadoes in Crysis have parameters that you can alter. If they are set to move slowly the tornado doesn't bend a great deal.
