  • Gasquet lacks the mental toughness that's required to be a consistent top 10 player.

  • Gasquet doesn't deserve that backhand. At least he hasn't earned it. What a stroke.

  • Gasquet, never fails to disapoint. Still a great match though. Were the two competitors still good sports after the match?

  • Can't believe Gasquet lost this match. Still my favorite of all time tho. Jus didn't like the result.

  • Never thought i'd attend a match where somebody sets a flare off in the stands, it deserved it though, incredible match and atmosphere

  • An instant classic

  • 03:40-03:52 Ooooooh! ...

  • just epic!

  • imagine a player with gasquets backhand and gonzalez forehand.

  • @lordazmadeus I think you're talking about Roger Federer

  • @Forza15Inter Yes he's got Gonzalez's forehand, gasquet's backhand and roddick's serve. Also, federer is magic. his racket is his wand.

  • @lordazmadeus The epicness.

  • @Rafathaman94 Well...I guess he did beat your lover Roddick in Wimby 07 QF :)

  • que revés que tiene gasquet.. admirable, pero VAMOS FEÑA!!!

  • it's so ironic that gonzalez wins it with a backhand winner T_T

  • Gasquet is really on a roll with these 5 setters, lol! Loses a 2 set to 0 lead against Murray at Wimbledon in 2008, loses a 2-1 lead at USO to Haas in 2008, loses a 2-0 lead to Gonzalez in this match, loses a 2-0 lead to Youzhny at the AO in 2010, loses a 2-0 lead to Murray at the French in 2010.

  • Whens the last time Gasquet's won a five set match lol?

  • and gonzalez won the match with gasquest best weapon!!!!!

  • you got to love a match where all the crucial points are winners instead of unforced errors. Love it!

  • haha 05:26 i would have done the same.

  • really nice volley's from gonzalez, just absorbing that power wich gasquet gives.

  • Did gasquet retire just wondering

  • @homergrandslama29 No... He's ranked 11th ATM. He's just been under the headlines.

  • what hustle from Gonzalez @ 3:47

  • .. dang it

  • ok wtf did gonzalez retire or something? i havent seen him at all in 2011...

  • @tennisproderek Surgery to the hip, hes back but with some obvious problems after months out of the tour.

  • @tennisproderek He is playing Wimbledon right now, returning from a injury...

  • Holy shit i remember this match. Amazing final shot too

  • what an awesome crowd

  • I remember watching the whole match, live. That was some crazy funky shit. Too bad Gasquet was eager to show how bad his mental strenght is... Seriously, how many matches did he end up losing after having a 2 sets lead?

  • Gonzales best forehand of the tennis History.. to bad that it was his only wepon : ( imagine that forehand with the speed of nadal and teqnique of federer!

  • There are people with better technique than Federer.

  • No lo puedo creer! barbaro! futurista! bravo! señoras y señores! inigualable, me qedo con esto: cuando juegan contra Gasquet es curioso qe sus adversarios se crezcan tanto y den lo mejor de si, este juego era de Gasquet.

  • I don't think Gonzalez shouted enough vamos in this match.

  • Love gasquet but he runs too much and wears down late due to poor court positioning. Wish he would take it earlier ala fed

  • gonzalez do have a random forehand the thing is they way he uses it to be dangerous and one of the best forehands

and gasquet has one of the best one handed backhand and gonzalez probably has the worst one in the top 50 (when he was thereXD)

  • Gonzalez should stop smashing his racquet.

  • How many matches has Gasquet lost after being ahead two sets? I know of three now: This one, and two to Murray

  • @vulyone1 both of them are massive choke artists (gonzo/gasquet), gasquet even a sadder story because he is easily the most talented player outside of the top 10 or so

  • This is the most exciting game I've ever seen so far, specially in live tv.

*FACT: Did you know that Gonzalez scored more backhand winners than Gasquet during the match?? funny isn't it? :D

  • It was so heartbreaking to see Gasquet lose this match.

  • Comment removed

  • the best backhand is from stan wawrinka!!

  • i love you, Richard!

  • gonzos forehand is soooo random

  • Gonzales has got the best forehand on tour

the best backhand are from Gasquet, Federer and Kohlschreiber

  • This is the greatest match I've ever been to.

  • 00:19 - Was that not the best backhand shot ever? And then he did it again at 2:08!

  • I truly don't understand how anyone can like Gonzalez. He's ugly as hell, cheap, and a douche

  • @jasonfrey13 ugly well let him bring his ugly ass my way

  • @jasonfrey13 - Are you serious????

Gonzalez is one of the best tennis players and Gonzalez has got the best forehand on tour with Roger!!

  • @ITeoR9I haha you're a joke! gonzalez is NOT one of the best players. when has he ever made the tour finals? hes not consistent and he has a powerful forehand but its not even effective all the time. sorry buddy...but nadal and feds forehands are so so so much better.

  • @jasonfrey13 I totally agree Gonzo isnt one of the best players. However I think his forehand can be measured up to nadals and federers. he misfires as often as federer (so its not amazingly inconsistent), he has a huge amount of spin on it (one of the best clay court forehands), he varies it nicely with some really deft angles etc and on top of all that it is FRICKING huge haha! :)

  • My favorite part is 7:08-7:11, just hilarious

  • The one-handed backhand is not dead !

  • Good come-back!

  • Damn Gasquet's backhand...

    wow

  • if u combine this two u have half roger

  • @sebaxoo Half is pretty damn good.

  • Wow that looked like a tremendous match. Somehow I missed seeing it last year. Thanks for the upload.

Gonzo is one of my favorite players. He's not the best guy out there, but he's charismatic and always goes for it.

  • oh wow

  • Gasquet seems to have a history of letting matches slip past him. Hell, he was points away from upsetting Murray at this year's FO. Needs a psychologist if you ask me.

  • my two favourite players

  • Gonzo sucks balls.

  • EPIC!

  • Who cares about Nadal/Federer? This was the best match ever!

  • The Forehand vs The Backhand.

  • @WelcomePie That's a great sum up. Gonzo often looks like he'd rather drill holes into his foot than hit a backhand, even though he has an excellent one and he won the match with a beautiful backhand winner.

  • @WelcomePie damn right Dudeeee!!!!!!!!

  • @WelcomePie both gasquet nad gonzales can hit hard withe both forehand and backhand

  • @WelcomePie

hey, u make a de pleaze, de eating of my shits!

  • @WelcomePie Exactly my thoughts

  • This is still one of my all-time favorite matches. I don't even like either guy that much, but just the passion that they both displayed as well as how into the match the crowd was just made for a ridiculously entertaining atmosphere. I loved moments like 3:00 with the major grunts from both dudes and I definitely loved Gasquet's yell when he saved that first match point. I know that some people think grunting is annoying but as long as it's not over the top I think it adds excitement.

  • @dwilliams02 thats what im talking about to, "Passion"! You rarely se that today, i referring to the bigger player names the smaller names today is the one worth watching. They can usually be better then the fials sometimes, just because of the passion. :-)

  • Gonzo is a pure showman. Love it.

  • He's coming to these matches coked up. How can you expect consistency?

  • what a match.. amazing, and exhausting

  • Gasquet has now lost 3 matches after leading 2-sets-to-love in 3 consecutive years now

    Wimbledon 2008 to Murray

    Australian open 2009 to Gonzalez

    Australian open 2010 to Youzhny

technique aint his problem and the 2007 Gasquet that defeated Roddick after falling to a two sets to love deficit needs to come back badly

  • his problem is everywhere, mental, physical, his game isn't good enough- even the best backhand isn't enough with an average serve/fh (at best). IMO his forehand sits up for everybody, it doesn't really do damage unless he goes all out on it, and then he misses a lot unless he's on fire. Essentially he has to be on fire to win against most players, which is not a good thing. And he's no longer young any more, if he's going to take the next step it has to be this yr or the next. i hope he does.

  • @demondayzzz lets hope he comes strong to fo and espacilly to wimbledon

  • @foul01 its too late, im afraid hes fucked forever.

  • @foul01 by the time he will reach the veteran age, he wont be able to hold his own serve at all.

  • @BrotherTree1

and what do you know? its 4 matches in 3 years now he's lost after leading two sets to none

he just lost to murray in roland garros again

  • @foul01 he needs to stop dying at crucial moments and harden the fuck up. if not, he should just retire and start crying like a baby.

  • Gasquet's problem with letting 2 sets to love leads go is that he always seems to just let the 4th set go. I didn't watch the 2010 match with Youzhny, but I've seen the others and he always fights really hard in the third but then just lets the 4th go and then tries to come back in the 5th. I know that some players do this once they're down in the 4th, but to me it's just a reflection of lacking conditioning. I think if he fought in the 4th he would have won at least one of those matches.

  • @foul01 roddick was bad in 2007 he couldnt move properly short balls even crippled him thats how gasquet beat him

  • @ClanDragonx loooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • Epic match. I love the drama in this game
