Thats funny. When ever I use a heavier rod is when I start losing fish on my crank baits. I now only use a 7 M rod when cranking. I have yet to lose one with that setup. If I switch to my 7 m fast tip rod I lose them every time. I would not even try a MH for a cranking setup. Trying that setup I lost 4 in a row. Its going to come down to personal preference with the rod you use for cranking. I like the lighter more parabolic options better.
@BassSniperTV BassSniper I hear what you are saying. Around here we only really have shallow water ponds/lakes ie. 4-5ft deep. So when I throw a cranbait it is always and squarebill and almost always around cover/heavy cover. If I were too be throwing cranks in medium to deep water I would use a rod like you described, one with a parabolic bend and a little lighter action. The Powell rod I use is perfect for my conditions. Thanks for the comment.
