A great tribute to a great star. I wish to note that Lucy's executive ability. After Desi left Desilu Ms Ball became CEO and her regime produced two of the most famous shows of all time Mission Impossible, Star Trek and also Mannix. As reported in the book "Desilu" one of Lucy's board members said if not for MS Ball there would have been no Star Trek. Lucy moved Desilu into films with her smash "Yours Mine And Ours"
Lucille Ball was a brave, demanding, and forthright woman, a true legend.
i had the great honour of meeting lucy in the 1980's when she was honoured in new york at the museum of broadcasting. i was the only person who was awarded tickets to two full days of q and a's with lucy, due to the fact that i had written such an impassioned letter to the academy and the fact that it was my birthday. i brought lucy's favourite flowers and was allowed to present them to her personally, thanks to her daughter's insistence! thankyou, lucie arnaz! i'll never forget that day.
That was beautiful, thank you. Do you know if the picture with Desi was at Lucie's wedding? It was nice to see them together. I know she always loved him.
Aww thats right I remember now she had suffered a stroke before 1989. That makes sense. If you dont mind my asking. Did you know Lucille or ever meet her? Or just a big fan? Thanks Again.
In early may 1988, Lucy suffered a stroke, and gary rushed her to cedars-Sinai medical center himself. After spending less than twenty-four hours in intensive care, lucy demanded to go home and she was released from the hospital soon after.
Im thinking it must be because she had complained of chest pains. And Gary Morton rushed her to the hospital. And she stayed there until her passing. I dont know what else could be because of the way she looks you can tell she is not wearing her wig etc. Yes very sad image. I try and think of the good times.
She like many older attresses of that eara wore wigs. If you look at some of the personal pictures of her that are not PR shots her hair is lighter red and finer. She work a hena colored wig that was a replica of her hair in her youth.
She had such style and so amazing. I have enjoyed her work all my life.
Wow thanks for posting more never seen pics big lucy fan here. The one of her in the car i believe at 3:40 im assuming is when she went in the hospital kinda scary and depressing to see. Its also unique how some are probably taken around the same timeframe yet she looks younger in some. Im assuming because it varied on the wig lighting and makeup etc?? Also I noticed her with a cigarette. Did she only quit the last couple years of her life??
You are correct-Lucy did indeed only stop smoking in the last couple of years of her life. Don't quote me word for word as far as dead-on dates, but I think her doctor ordered her to stop smoking in the period in the time before she had that stroke in '88 (presumably in 1985-1986, because she wasn't smoking by the time she did "Life With Lucy" and people reported her being in "a foul mood" since being told to cease all cigarette usage).
What a blessed life she lived.

Lucille Ball was the greatest actress in TV history.
Lucy Ricardo was a creation. She was very different than Miss Lucille Ball.
Oh yeah, and she was kind of funny too.
If you don't love Lucy//Miss Ball - you must not have a heart.

The pic of Lucy in the car toward the end...I am also wondering if that was taken when she entered the hospital at the end of her life? Do you know?

I LOVE the picture at 3:22. I've never seen it before. It's like Lucy's going to kiss Desi's cheek.
