can we all chip in and get these boys back even for one last night what a dream i would even get a loan to see them live one more time best band eveeeeeer
@teddingtontcu stupid teddy can you tell me and the rest of of the listeners to this site what this has to do with the radio wall of sound or any other thing slade have done. as for the loan no i never have had one not even to buy my house my sons house or any of my cars so get it right up you looser
Great moment on TOTP when this was out. During the pause the camera was on Jim, he looked out and you could see he was thinking... we're Slade, twenty years after our first hit we're back on TOTP, back in the charts and we ----ing rule! Tell me I'm right Jim. Anybody else notice?
@macca63 I think that Slade are ALL great musicians!! I would love for this great band to reform with all 4 members: Noddy Holder, Jim Lea, Dave Hill, and Don Powell!! slade is one of the BEST hard-rock bands in the world!!
@LOUDNESSrocks Sure Jimmy is for sure a better guitarist, bass, violin but that is pointless when you put them together, as you said and i agree ... the best.
...I think Slade get labelled as a glam rock band when they where an out & out rock band.....much under rated...love Noddys voice...it's up there with the best of them....
Strange how some good songs just fail. Perhaps all the slade fans had grown up, got married, had kids and bills needed paying. Life is cruel when you get older you have to live by priority.
To me, more like the Frampton Marriott partnership in Humble Pie, with Peter taking the lead vocal. Funnily enough this came out right after those last Steve-Pete sessions before Marriott died.
I think this was one of Slade's finest offerings. It made No.21 in the British charts & not No.24. Should've been a top tenner. Noddy also thought it was gonna be a smash as he told me when I was fortunate to meet him some years ago.
Although it's missed here on this VHS "Motormouth" tv clip the beginning bit "This is rockin' radio the wall of sound..." is done by DJ Mike Read 'case you didn't know

How come jimmy sung this? Were they going for a 'Def Leppard' Sound?
skintrade 7 months ago
@skintrade It was a Jim Lea solo project and then Polydor commissioned two tracks for The Very Best Of Slade but it wasn't in Noddy 's key.

Jim's vocals remind me a little bit of Joe Elliot from Def Leppard.

Yeah I thought it was like Joe Elliot, it's Jimmy Lea, the bassist and by far the most musically talented.

You got that wrong these lads were out late 1969 many bands have tried to emulate there style
spinaway 3 years ago
the guy you can see in the sillhouette at the begining of the song is one of the Motormouth presenters Andy Crane.

A little bit "Quo" esque with the shared vocals. Dosent detract from a good rock tune tho

To me, more like the Frampton Marriott partnership in Humble Pie, with Peter taking the lead vocal. Funnily enough this came out right after those last Steve-Pete sessions before Marriott died.

Considering that Slade were a firmly established group from the 70s and had gone out of the public eye by 1991, this song was remarkably good.
