  • @aussiechickdiana I wholeheartedly agree with you. She has beautiful, strong legs. But which Diana are you talking about? Her or yourself? Are you the one dancing?

  • Good to see the Prima ballerinas with a bit of 'muscle'...glad to see the end of the anorexic-decades...thanks for this, diana

  • I wish i were a ballerina

  • I love this song.

It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it

    :)

  • awesome <3

  • Ballerinas always amaze me. To be so fluidly flexible and being able to distribute all of your weight onto the tips of your toes is an incredible feat that takes countless hours of training.

  • i immediately fell in love with this song when playing bioshock in fort frolic. so beautiful...

  • This song is so beautiful to me

  • Lovely choreography. I can't wait to do flowers this year, only one month away!

  • Go Clarinet solo!

    xD

  • so beautiful......

  • I had to play it with my orchestra as first violin. My favorite part is at 1:50

  • 3:40 is my fav. part i had to dance this in a chrismas festavel

  • 1:20 GO HORNS!

  • the part in 3:39 and 4:10 brings me the tears

  • and what a lovely cello soli there

    tchaikovsky=amazing

  • I SANG THIS IN GRADE 5!!!!as well as sugar plum fairy and arabian dance!!!

  • how do u sing a ballet?

  • in grade 5,we did the nutcracker for our christmas concert;dance of the sugar plum fairy, arabian dance, and "waltz of the flowers":flowers of every hue,red ye-llow pink white and light blue, beauty so bright,in the sun-light,aaaaah,the flowers surround you,

sweet purfume fills the air, sweet as the breath of the fair spring, pretty flo-wers sway,in a DAINty way,all the petals seem,to say, lets dance today!...

  • hahaa i'd be in the pit! :]

yes, this song DOES get sickening after a while.. but still my guilty pleasure.

  • omg i love this dance iwas a flower in 4th grade with a friend!!!

  • I assume by "song" you mean "tune", a song implies...well...singing! Very nice all the same :)

  • Beautiful!!

    I am in this dance!

  • You're mom is in this play.

  • my daughter is 4 and she loves this song!

  • i love the song but hearing it about ten times a day gets pretty annoying!

  • i know I get annoyed when i hear it 20 times lol hahaha

  • I am so excited. I am playing the lead in our production! This music is so pretty.

  • One of my favorite songs ever!

  • im doing this dance in the nutcracker this winter, and im so excited, but after hearing the song over and over i get kind of sick of it! haha.

  • me too!! only i lovee this music!! i've been hearing it since august! lol

break a leg in ur performance!! :))

  • im already sick of this song! i love the nutcracker, but after doing this dance for four hours every saturday for eight weeks, you really get sick of it. thats what we did last year, now we're doing it again this year. joy...

  • Dance of the sugar plum fairies is even worse... every time i see a christmas commercial with that song i want to barf! :) but I still love preforming in the nutcracker.

This year a chinese porcelain doll in the tea dance. :)

  • Which school is this?

  • чайковский спасиба тебе за эту привосходную музыку!

  • i really regret that i had to quit dancing...i love it...and always will....the nutcracker is my favourite

  • me too. it's not that i had to quit, it was just more i quit hehehe.

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! it gives me thrills!!

  • Magnifique :)

  • Very nice!

  • its better when your actually there.

  • It, it always is better in person, because you can fell the energy, and you hardly notice mistakes and all. I did notice that Dew drop wasn't to energetic, tho. Idk, I'd like to go to a summer intensive there, tho!!!!!1

  • its awesome!! great dancers!

  • beautiful

    :]

i really wish to be in the nutcracker someday :]

  • This is beautiful!

  • THIS IS A GOOD BALLET

  • wow!!! beautiful

  • B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.!!! I Love Ballet and i love this waltz, georgeos!! =D

  • nice. i did this dance this summer (*for a camp) it is interesting to see this dance with different choreography.

  • please nice show, but turn up the volume please.

  • My apologies on the low music level. I will soon be posting the 2007 version, which will have better audio.

  • Wish I could do ballet. Looks to be difficult.

  • is this performance from San Gabriel Auditorium?

  • It is in Roswell, Georgia, USA

  • Really? That's a far away.

  • I suppose that is relative to where you are in the world. Roswell is close to Atlanta, GA.

  • I live in Los Angeles California.

  • Then you're right, that's far!

  • one of my favourite pieces everrrrr i lurveee tchaikovsky

  • this song is infinitely sublime

  • i know just how hard it is to dance like that and how much stamina!

i totally admire them! i think they are all very talented and this is one of my favourate pieces!

  • Excellent performance. Well choreographed and nearly perfect synch. This is one of my favorite pieces of ballet and as a straight guy that takes guts to admit.

But I wonder what would happen if the lead dancer slipped and fell into the orchestra pit?

  • This stage has a safety net over the pit.

  • how convenient!

  • thy are lifting their legs all the time but the song is very beutiful

  • i am like jlg92990 i am getting point this summer and i want point so bad. it is so fun

  • art plaza did part of the nutcracker. mr. yesid taught it

  • Fantastic :o) Ditto boomyang77

  • excellent....one of my favourite pieces of music....now even better :o)

  • They are very strict and precise in their movements, but still graceful. I'd love to see it live!

  • IS THIS NYCB???

  • great choreography! they are really good dancers!

  • G-d, this is so beautiful...

  • Best Song Ever!

  • If it has worsd its a song, if it's only insturments it's called a piece. But other wise I agree. I love this!!!

  • Ditto. This has to be the most popular Nutcracker piece..in fact, it's the last piece in the Suite (which only has a select few pieces).

  • Not quite, but close enough.

Mozart's Elvira Madigan beats it, as does chopin's 467

  • Omg, I wish I could be in the Nutcracker. But, I'm no good at normal ballet, and I look like a dying fish even with my 6 years of classes lol. I think I'll just stick to modern for nows. :D

  • im a die hard-dancer, and i thought that waz beautiful!

  • this is my song for ballet! it very beautiful!

  • i am trying to get on to pointe and i iam really excited i think pointe is beautiful and i think it is something to look forward to !!

  • your like me! i wanted to get on pointe sooo badly and then wen i got on it it hurt so much lol but it is really pretty

  • 4 words .. THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL !! i Loovee Ballet Dance i am a ballet dancer since 9 years ! =D

  • The costumes are lovely!

  • they look lovely but at the beginning they arent quite in time unfortunatly.. nor are they spaced evenly

  • they prlly have the stage jitters or something

  • I'm new to ballet, though I do know the nutcracker ballet suite. Why was there no aplause when that piece ended? Is it because they were performing for the 3 people sitting behind (in the story) and the people in the audience know this?

  • There was applause in this live performance, but the music behind this video is directly from the CD, not the live audio.

  • That explains it, thanks :D I thought maybe it was maybe some kind of ballet etiquette.

  • hey i take ballet too and danced in russian, waltz of the flowers and waltz of the snowlfakes....it was awesome........

and to whoever said that pointe was just walking on your toes they are sooooo wrong

i just started pointe and its not easy!!

  • I know, I started pointe in the summer and at first it was really hard for me, especially holding my turnout. But it gets easier as you go along and it's pretty fun

  • omg...this is beautiful!!!i take pointe and its not easy...so that kid needs to try it and maby he'll think twice about what (she,he) said....its more than just walking on our toes...geez

  • how beautiful! my goal in life is to dance pointe but it's probably mucho hard. :/ major props to these ladies. :)

  • OMG! i love the nutcracker and have been in ballet since i was like 2 so thats like 13 years and i have been in the nutcracker twice and am hoping for a third!

  • gosh thinking thye are all koo cuz they can walk on their toes! ugh. people these days. i mean really theyre just ballerinas! XD

  • OH MY GOD! Im a ballerina! and guess what were not just walking on our toes! You put on pointe shoes and try it! The first time i wore my pointe shows my feet started to bleed! oh and its our job to make it look easy. if you tried it you be sweating like crazy. so why dont you just shut up

  • wow! your feet started to bleed! that doesnt help me im about to take point!

  • if ur feet bleed thats a bad sign it means your shoes dont fit proporly or you need different padding

  • it's harder than it seems trust me. i used to get blisters all the time whe i first started and my nails would rip-give them a little more credit at least

  • i do point and guess what its not easy!

you put some point shoes on and see how it is.

ballet is beautiful its not a popularity contest

so why dont you do some research before you open your mouth.

  • I agree that xitsmex123 shouldn't have id that, cause it really does seem tough to pointe. but i will give him right that it's no point to go berserk over it...why doesn't anyone comment the flawless orchestral performance? the pointe is just one tiny aspect of this entire ballet, that's the beatuy of it all. without the music it would be near worthless (imagine those people dancing without music, it would look quite awkward lol), and no dancing would be a huge loss.

  • We played this song at our Winter Concert at school it was AMAZING!!

  • wow!! this is amazing!! ive actually never seen the ballet but the orchestra im playing is performing the Nutcracker Suite.

  • my studio does this show every year i only do jazz so im not in it but i love seein other studios perfrom in

  • FLOWERS IS MY DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Quite amazing this year I was Fritz (it has nothing to do with act 2 but any ways5/5

  • i'm a russian in the nutcracker this year and i hope to be a snowflake when i'm older

  • omg i was in russian this year too! But i was also spanish and waltz and snowflake and closing. but still. how old are you?

  • I have a small studio, MHDC, so I have four parts this year! I'm too young to do waltz of the flowers or snow or anything like that, but my sister is snow queen AND Sugarplum fairy. I wish I could be that good one day. My studio goes in parts like this so they get a chance to breathe. I'M SO EXCITED! (Sorry, I'm pretty young so I can be weird)

  • thats awesome!

i wish my studio did the nutcracker...

  • We have professionals play the part of The Sugar plum Fairy and Cavalier. But, she's also my ballet teacher and principle dancer soooo

  • gosh... i loved this dance. although my class did it in our ballet shoes not pointe cuz we were too young to do pointe yet. but we never got a break and we had half of a hoop with flowers and our arms had to be up all the time. so tiring yet so much FUN!!

  • im in this dance this year!!! its so much fun! but its really hard cuz its so long. and unlike this version, everyone is on stage the whole time so we dont get a break! its very tireing! i like thats it is on pointe though1

  • we get to the nutcracker for chrisatmas. i get to be clara because i am the smallest and yougest girl who can do all of the hard things on pointe. id hate to be the sugar plum fairy so hard and so much to do!

  • i <3 the nutcracker! but i coulden't do it this year T_T

  • I was in the nutcracker and i was in the flower group lol.i have dance competitions for hip-hop. check it out.

  • i did a ballet dance to this!!

  • i always have to be the lead person when i do the nutcracker!!!! i have to be clara i hate it cus i rly dont get to do anything!

  • at our production we have two lead flowers and teh rest of us our on flatt.. it was pretty but ours is wayy different lol

    =]

  • See at our dance center we have dewdrop, then two lead flowers, then other flowers. i'm a lead flower this year. =]

    i <3 the nutcracker

  • iam always clara

  • this song always makes me so happy and bubbely^_^ it's truely wonderful!

  • Lovely. What happens to them when they get old? Do they teach younger students or write books on dance. Dance is kinesthetic intellignece, it's so alien to me.

  • Given that these dancers you watched have mostly genius IQ's, they should be able to find any job they want after they enjoy their youth dancing. Don't be fooled by how lovely they dance. At least they could be dancers if they wanted to and have that option, unlike a lot of other brainiacs.

  • That was wicked pretty!

  • i have this part this year and i am so excited.

  • a brillant performance

  • I've loved the Nutcracker since I was little and everytime I see something from it or hear the music I love it more. There was a production of it last year near where I live but I was ill so I couldn't go, it made me sad that I wasn't able to enjoy it.

  • beautiful

    i love the nutcracker!

  • I have published a compilation of images of Tchaikovsky, the Russian composer along with some data of his life, and accompanied by Waltz of the Flowers. Watch my video in my account

    =) Thanks !

  • This Is A Beatiful Dance This is One of my Fav Ballets

  • this was pretty, but there were a few dancers who stood out to me as having spacing problems and not being in sync with the rest of the chorus or being a beat behind.

  • oh this is so

    extaordinary!!!

    so so wonderful

    oh i just adore the

    clasical dance of ballet

ohh. I hope to see it this year

    maybe in sanfrancisco

    hm. this peice is amaising

    <333

  • This piece is so beautiful

  • I might go see the Nutcracker in Atlanta this year. By the looks of this once tickets go on sale I'll be on my knees begging to go.

  • Great! You will really enjoy it. BTW-- this is North Atlanta Dance Theatre (NOT Atlanta Ballet). The number to call for tickets is (770) 772-8000.

  • I'm amazed!Briliance!

    I like it so much!

  • Their lines are a bit messy, but for the age and experience you've listed, that makes sense. Good job. I love the colors.

  • there awesome! =D

  • gorgeous! beautifully choreographed

  • bonnjour

Le son est trop bas on a temps pas la musique

  • Yes, I apologize for the low volume on this one.

  • how old are these people? same question for snow

  • Most of the corps for Waltz and Snow are high school students, and there are a few middle school students in Snow. There are a few professionals-- Dew Drop, Snow Queen, and some of the demi-soloists. Overall, a talented cast of advanced dance students.

  • Oh I love the beginning with the two lines of girls doing bourrees across the stage-very together and very pretty!

  • danced to 6 different choreographies of this waltz and they were so alike. Now mark morris is the best since he totally listened to the music. He made it quiet different.

  • I remember when I was like 7 my mum took me to see Nutcracker like 3 times in the same year. twice in the same month lol I've had enough of it but cant deny that it is a great piece of music :)

  • I wish I were a poet so I could write a song using this most wondrous tune.

  • I wish I could see this someday! ^^

  • First weekend in December, Blessed Trinity Fine Arts Theatre, Roswell, GA. Come on down!

  • very beautiful choreography!;)

  • Haha, my old ballet dance was to this song.

  • i feel like nowadays no one can do music like in those days... why is that??

  • i don't think people are exposed to this kind of music enough these days, so the number of people composing this type of thing is getting lower and lower.

  • its definetly a lost talent, like the masters of art in the renaissance.

  • if you dont believe that no one can do music like that, you obviously should see the sea princess, in your search write down "the sea princess" and you will be amazed!

  • Yes, I wish I could write music like this ...

..but in answer to your question, I think, it is in part due to the kind of "new" music that gets sponsored (by corporate sponsors), or encouraged (by music faculty) or performed - at concerts...

  • When it comes to new music, dissonance and experimentation still reign supreme - music that harks back to the romantic era is looked down upon by the music elite.

That's how it has been for a whole century.

When Prokofiev first started composing, his early compositions were quite romantic - inspired by Chopin - but they were scoffed at by his professors.

He never wrote like that again....

  • My God, what was going on in Tchaikovsky's head when he wrote such a beautiful piece. This is the sort of music that can pierce one's soul. Just Lovely.
