  • I think someone who is just learning English will not understand a word from this. And present simple and progressive is quite at the beginning when one starts with english. How could anyone who is at a low level understand this?

  • @violetta7509

Yes, I think you are correct. When you are actually teaching this grammar you need to speak as simply as possible. This is what I always try to do during my classes.

  • although there are number of videos on youtube and i am brain draining with it but at last i reach to conclusion that rebeccas tuting and easy learining strategy is awsum... long live rebecca

  • I got it ...You are a great teacher...congratulations

  • thank you rebecca.

  • thanks...

  • very useful!!

  • hi, it is great , good job , you are realy helping alot ,

  • Hello Rebecca is this a class for an ESL student or a teacher training course? Why my question? Well, for a student who is learning the language your level of English is extremely high!! A student taking this class will not only be confused but also demotivated since he will not understand a thing due to the high level of English used.

  • Hi Rebecca, I like the way you explain the lesson, so clear and understandable, it really helps me out...!!! Good job... thank you so much :-)

  • nice explanation

  • nice explanation.

  • Good lesson, provided that the students already knows English and is almost fluent. Otherwise how would he understand all of your talking? And if he did he wouldn't need a teaacher he could just look up this in a grammar book. It was definetely a great class - but not an ESL one, it would be more suited to conversation. Keep up the good work.

  • Very good... Thanks!

  • Useful!!!

  • Hello Rebecca, Would it be possible for you to contrast each tense in all of its forms?

    Past, Present and Future.

  • I find Rebecca to be the best teacher of English on UTube. Her lessons are always clear and understandable, and I'm sure that all student will benefit greatly from her tuition.

It would be great in you could explain all of the tenses in one continuous series of videos.

    Past/Present/Future. in all their forms,

  • Rebecca, Good Evening

As you, I´m a teacher, I´m Brazilian.. I found your explanation clear and the examples are good but I want to suggest more board support on the explanations. Some students (as you know) need visual. Considering beginners wacthing this video I would suggest to you give easier examples without many possibilities on the example (the writer, the holiday). I think it´s better to go straight to the point.

i hope we can exchange ideas.

  • Ton is very bad. don t understand all

  • thanks a lot this vid is very helpful in doing my documentation project. im your webstudent from philippines/

  • Hi Rebecca i am little bit confused framing questions in simple present tense...For ex:-Is he brave. If it is a simple present tense then i want to know when do and Be(is,are) forms used as a question form

  • TO BE is an exception - meaning it does not take auxiliaries ("to do" is the auxiliary we use to form negatives and interrogatives in the simple tenses). So, the negative of "she is beautiful" would be "she is not (isn't) beautiful" and the interrogative "is she beautiful?".

  • Thanks!

  • @luisabebe2 What about isn't she beautiful? knowing that someone thinks that; that person is beautiful. Is this also interrogative?

  • @Knockturnall1 yes, it is a negative interrogative, the short form for "is she not beautiful?"

    :)

  • @luisabebe2 Oh, right on! Thank you! I bet you're beautiful yourself... Gracias Luisa.

  • Wonderful ! Thank you!!

  • @holtzteinn THANKS TO REBECCA AND FET SYSTEM FOR ALL GOOD LECTURES AND RESOURCES

  • @holtzteinn Thanks Rebecca, I study English from fet system and you

  • Thinking of what you said makes perfect sense. You are right. How else could somebody teach grammar from Youtube. Checked some other of your videos out and its not only grammar...Good stuff Rebecca. Sorry for my snobbish remarks

  • Happy New Year to all our viewers. Thanks for all your feedback. I wish you a radiant year in 2010.

  • @RebeccaESL

i simple question.could we use "had" with "wish".i mean is the sentence correct.i wish i had two cars.????

  • @RebeccaESL NICE LECTURE

  • Who born in America? He can easily learn by Rebecca because she's using lot's of hard words when student studying in her video class. I think, you should to learn with easy English.

Whatever, I like your video's and thank you spending your time for YouTube users.

    Thanks

  • Hey Rebecca, have you ever heard of contextualising grammar? Grammar taught in this way will only produce robotic students incompetent in cummunicating. We live in 'The Age of Task'. Teaching grammar like this is fruitless and deceiving according to Prabhu...look him up. Also look up concepts such as communicative competence, communicative approach, grammar as meaning, grammar in discourse, grammar and style. I am not trying to relegate the importance of grammar but like this it is useless...

  • Yes, in the course of a complete classroom lesson, I teach grammatical concepts in communicative ways to international students. I also train teachers in using communicative approaches. Nevertheless, students sometimes benefit from more specific clarification, which I have provided here. Also, there are many approaches to teaching any subject and if a student is experiencing difficulty, it is the teacher's responsibility to be flexible in order to help the student understand.

  • @RebeccaESL absolutely true. i complement communicative classes by providing links to explanations like this where students who feel they can benefit from clear gammatical explanations which once-upon-a-time was the whole job of the foreign language teacher. videos like this free up the teacher and the class time to the business of communication. thank you for your work Rebecca, and please don;t like negative comments like the previous one deter you from your great work. =)

  • @RebeccaESL absolutely true. i complement communicative classes by providing links to explanations like this for students who feel they can benefit from clear gammatical explanations - and their continue to be plenty of those, who are uncompfrtable or unsatsified in a purely communicative class. videos like this free up the teacher and the class time to the business of communication. thank you for your work Rebecca, and please don;t like negative comments like the previous one deter you =)

  • @seastouakas Who are you to tell her what to do! if it is useless for you go and learn somewhere else!
