  • They missed on a serious point - the acidity of the vomit, like the Gastric acid, that could, at least to an extent, pose a risk of deteriorating the bag...those weird scientists. Not only they try to overcomplicate everything, that bad habit of theirs defies science!

  • nice.. vommit preparation.... :)

  • lol if this is what they do all day no wonder we havent gone back to the moon.

  • someone should just get fucking drunk and then vomit easy.

  • The black guy looks like and ideiot ima get my kkk people on them dirty nigger

  • That's so damned funny. Give that guy his own show :)

  • wow that guy was annoying

  • pay me the $4 billion they used to "create vomit" and ill throw up all you want...

  • Well, I think you want your vomit to be calibrated so you can test it on different trash bag materials and get consistent results.

  • Another Great video.

    @Astro_Mike Rocks!

  • these are the skilled nasa workforce people are always talking about

  • It seems that the budget cuts were too small...

  • I can't believe this guy actually asked NASA scientists if they searched for the "vomit" recipe over the INTERNET! WTF! :|

  • Yes.. it is so hard to make fake vomit when someone could just produce some real vomit after a mean and 20 minutes to let it digest a little. I love how money is wasted at nasa. Good thing space shuttles are almost done!

  • Come on.... I know this is necessary to some degree but 8 chemists aren't required. Half of them can work on something else. Two people can do this task for sure, even one. My opinion, many would agree with me. Our space program should better use the assets they get (I know they don't get a whole lot considering what they need) but using 6-8 chemists time on this is wasted time when one could do it. Use them for other stuff!! Lets get nasa back to the Apollo type determination.

  • *Barney voice* Gee gordon, i can really see your MIT education pays for itself.

  • Great going guys! All the best for the messy stuff !

  • to echo xlbrooklyn Not only is this a tremendous waste of time and money; NASA compounds the error by spending more time and money on turniing it into a media event!

Long duration flights will need to extract water for a closed loop LSS. Probably an electrical furnace. The residue can be used for hydroponics and aquaculture. This concept assumes the throw away space cullture currently used on the ISS which is IMHO not a viable long term solution to space settlement..

  • @brobof Well, you know how government agencies are--their budgets are "use it or lose it", and they will fight to preserve their existence even after they've long since stopped doing anything useful.

  • @AlessaSmile Amen to that NASA is still locked in the '60s of "waste anything but time."

  • Cool!

  • I wanna make tons of money working at NASA too...

  • Now this is just beautiful.

  • So that's what they do all the long at nasa ... play with vomit ..xD I could get a job there

  • This does seem like a waste of time and money. If you're going to test a holding container's integrity against vomit, you need VOMIT; which contains, among other things, digestive secretions. Those secretions are mostly responsible for the smell and are highly acidic. This fake stuff isn't even close to the real deal and isn't a reasonable substitute when testing your new trash bags. Come on, guys, work smarter, not harder.

  • It would be cheaper to get me dined and drunk.. Why have 6 scientists waste time preparing fake vomit?

    Peace

  • @truefictions Haha!

  • Mike Massimino got a very big mouth. I love it, Lol.

  • "Trash" lol....Americans and their crazy words. :P

  • I want to work at Nasa!!!

  • Why don't they just hire some America's top model and puke in a bag for them and then continue the testing would save allot wasted time/money

  • When are NASA going to get on with putting people in space?

  • This shouldn't be a secret but it likely is: On any given sperical space body, there are 3 point where gravity sums to zero along every diameter. One at the very center and one somewhere between the inside and outside surface. I know that's not officlal NASA logic, or no one need to know that. What it means is that living creatures could create a living space inside of a "moon".

  • Mike's nose knows.

  • Funny, yes. Necessary, absolutely. Important, immensely.

  • How much do these experts get paid? ... and where do I sign up? (currently unemployed Mom with vomit and excrement familiarity)

  • lol!

  • This is funny!

  • Why not just get ordinary barf bags, then get astronauts that are more macho and can handle the smell? :P

Or comfy nose-plugs for the entire crew :P

  • blegh

  • Someone were to pay me I'd be sick for them LOL

  • This is awesome :D

  • NASA rocks! :P

  • Astro-Mike is the best!

  • Astro-Mike is great! If I say: "Shoot him to the moon!", I don't mean it negative. :-)

  • Awsome video again Nasa!

  • "Next-gen Trash bag" hmm i think i got my new Nick name :)

  • @timmerDanmark lmao
