  • Totally agree with what he's saying, I loved the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares but was horribly disappointed with the US version. It's too scripted with the obligatory makeover added in, and with too much focus on drama and swearing, and not enough on how to run a restaurant and the cooking. Same thing with Hell's Kitchen. Shame he didn't mention the F-Word, which I also enjoyed a lot.

  • *Bourdain orders a Cinnabon and receives spit*

    "I deserved that."

  • rofl bourdain is hilarious. yeah i have to admit some of his language is a little off-color and he is arrogant...but c'mon considering what bourdain has done in his career, he can say whatever he wants. he talks the talk but he can walk the walk too

  • I just finished the UK kitchen nightmares and thought it was absolutely amazing. Really I think the biggest failure of US television is pandering to corporate sponsors. Even with one camera and unedited language it managed to beat most big budget reality TV.

  • The UK Kitchen Nightmares, Boiling Point and The F Word seems way more real than Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares US. For this sort of thing, UK tv is just better.

  • Interesting.

  • @2010NiZER love em for it<3

  • notice how bourdain doesnt comment on kitchen nightmares or the f word..

he so jealous of ramsey what a fag.

  • @SaulMeyersz Um, he did comment on Kitchen Nightmares. He said he liked it. How's that attention span treating you?

  • I hate anthony bourdin he is fucking ashole he fucking jealous of gordon ramsey succeed in all shows that gordon into he nt much popular then gordon ramsey..go gordon ramsey lol

  • @skooshi what are you talking about. bourdain likes ramsay

  • and yea...Gordon Ramsay > anthony bourdain

  • The US kitchen nightmare is no comparison to the uk original version. I'm amazed at how fox turned an intelligent enjoyable show into overdramatized crap.

  • @acehole7 Completely agree. The key element FOX took out was Ramsay's narrative, which really was a shame because it was informative and thoughtful. Regrettably, FOX's version chose to have the participants comment on each phase of the restaurant makeover. I found it rather irritating because it took the substance out of the programme.

  • @moonsafari200 Yeah you said it

  • @moonsafari200

I've seen both and I do like both even though they are extremely different. American television demands that viewers always have a constant sense of over dramatic "reality". It's unfortunate because all of the Television is like that, even the shows that are meant to help people. The Narrative in UK Kitchen Nightmares I think is a great reflective element that really pulls the show through and makes it good.

  • @acehole7 It's not the worst American conversion i've seen. Watch the US version of secret millionaire.

  • @acehole7 Thanks to you and moonsafari for your comments on the US Kitchen Nightmares. I thought no one but me noticed. In typical US TV fashion, GR's hard love has been distorted from the BBC original into a muscled up bad-ass act. But the qualities that make GR a hero for me are still discernable - total commitment to quality in an age of mediocrity - or worse, passion for his work and a demand for that passion from others, and commitment to bring out the full potential of people he advises.

  • @acehole7 yea US has given Gordon Ramsay such a bad name

  • @acehole7 the uk version had no budget at all..

so he had like 1 camera through out the whole show...that show had like zero pounds..

i dont like the narrator for the usa one. . it should be done by gordan only.

  • Anthony Bourdain: "The only thing more prevalent than my false sense of entitlement is my lack of knowledge on any given topic."

  • except maybe who?!!! 0:59

  • Since Bourdain is very often guest in Hell's Kitchen's competitor show Top Chef it's more than obvious he's talking against it.

  • gordan is great guy.. the only thing about the old kitchen nightmare is they had like NO budget at all and i think one camera .

what i like about it is how gordan did all his narrating...

and the show was more about him.. ./

the new one has a narrator which i dont like and it interviews the people too much.

======== it has alot of editing like top gear and David Attenborough shows

  • Btw, if a lot of you didn't know, all the American broadcasting networks are owned by the world renowned Rothschild owned Reuters in the City of London, they pay no taxes and only appoint Masonic influenced individuals. Bunch of satanic and sadistic old gooks who have nothing better to do then try and enslave the world with their Tavistock visions while the fat ass Opium drug lord Queen drinks the blood from the malnutritioned 3rd world children, they know damn well that they cant sleep at night

  • @fukwaynecampaign2 Oh god I hope this is a joke!

  • Hate comments? Really?

  • Ramsey has how many Michelinn stars..?? Boudain has how many..? Easy to blow out retarded remarks at people how actually accomplished something. Ramsey wins, Boudain looses, period

  • @FOKKERization Did you miss all the praise he had for Ramsey and invent some bashing of him? Because he only insulted the contestants on Hells Kichen, not Ramsey. Bordain wins, you lose, period.

  • @MrZeus7 Yes i did but its not about me, its about Ramsey and Bourdain. You ever saw other shows of Bourdain, and televised items, hence the insults vs Ramsey? I dont think so,I win you lose, period

  • Bordain is a jagoff.

  • @Ghenghy I'll take him over your worthless ass any day.

  • @RoadWarrior35 You have internet service at the Motel 6? Wow, then you wont have to wait for me to tell you to go fuck yourself. Anthony Bordain is a pretentious asshole, and if you are a fan of his then you must be on also, dickface.

  • @Ghenghy Bourdain admits he's an asshole. But he's not pretentious. There are worse things than assholes, in fact, people who call other people assholes and dickface are worse.

  • @MsJCBurke Oh shut up you old rag, I doubt you even know what the word means.

  • I hate Gordon but I am fine with Bourdain.

  • Anthony Bourdain - the man with Chuck Norris's stomach

  • This guy's tv show is depressing as hell. He is a cranky old man.

  • 15 people couldnt work at cinnabon

  • I go back to my main point, and this is rock solid. If no one sues, it's the truth. Gordon Ramsay had an affair, and the news story damaged his career. End of story. He'll be more careful who he fucks from now on I'm sure.

  • The UK has some of the most strict and enforcable libel laws on the planet, Gordon Ramsay has the money to litigate... but he didn't sue the mistress for defamation of character or libel. What does that tell you?

  • Ramsay cheats on his wife...

  • @SethHesio Do you have evidence for that? Or are you just a dickhead.

  • @liuzhou A woman claimed he was having an affair with him, detailed where they met, for how long etc... Gordon Ramsay didn't sue her. When no one sues you know it's the truth.

  • @SethHesio What an idiotic comment..

  • @liuzhou Well it isn't actually. Many many people have affairs. Gordon Ramsay made the mistake of having one with a woman who went public.

  • @SethHesio That is an accusation. Not evidence.

  • @liuzhou The fact that he didn't sue her means that she could prove it in court. Same thing happened with Rebecca Loos going public about her affair with David Beckham. He didn't sue her for libel, because his legal team knew she had enough evidence to prove the affair had happened. Same thing with Ramsay and his mistress. He didn't sue because she had evidence.

  • @SethHesio You don't know that. There could be several reasons for not suing. You are making the supposition that he didn't sue because the accusations were true. They may well be. But the point is you don't know. And neither do I.

Were you at these meetings where his legal team advised him? Thought not. Everything you have said is conjecture. Not evidence.

And it it is utterly irrelevant

  • @liuzhou Just be sensible about it. If someone doesn't sue, which is a rare thing considering our libel laws in the UK, then it has to be true. There aren't any other reasons not to sue.

  • @SethHesio I can think of several, but I don't have time to teach you to think. Or teach you the English langaue and the difference between evidence and conjecture.

And to be honest I don't care who he shags. He is still one of the world's greatest chefs. And that isn't supposition. I've eaten his food.

    Goodbye.

  • @liuzhou Ironic that you misspell language. Dude we're not arguing here. Marco Pierre White had countless affairs, as have most men in positions of power and wealth. The fact is Gordon Ramsay did have this affair, and what made it interesting news was that he has been voted "Father of the year" and a big part of his brand is that he publicizes how much of a family man he is. This mistress revelation actually damaged the Ramsay brand, and that's why it's important.

  • @SethHesio I notice you can't give an example. (And my mistake on 'language' was obviously a typo.)

"The fact is Gordon Ramsay did have this affair"

    You don't know that.

  • @liuzhou There have been libel suits for this kind of stuff for countless years.. I can't think of an example right now. I can look one up if you like? If you look up super injunctions at the same time, that will work... that's very interesting.

  • @SethHesio It might be amusing that i misspelled a word. It certainly isn't 'ironic'. Look up a dictionary.

  • @liuzhou True, and most of the lyrics in Alanis Morrisette's song Ironic, aren't ironic either.

  • @SethHesio Are you trying to suggest that Ramsey had an affair with Alanis Morrisette?

  • @liuzhou Alanis Morrisette would never sleep with Gordon Ramsay... that would be too ironic even for her. The thing is I stand by the adage that if no one sues anyone it's the truth... Gordon Ramsay has enough money to sue, interests to protect and a brand to protect... he doesn't want to be seen as a cheater when he champions his own family man status so much. Seriously, he'd have every reason to sue the publication and the woman, if it wasn't true.

  • @SethHesio Before I go, can you give one example of anyone who successfully sued someone for saying he slept with her?

  • @liuzhou You want examples of kiss and tell stories which have resulted in lawsuits agains the mistress/ publication. Well when the mistress goes public it's a done deal that it's true. Publications have been sued for stating rumour as fact when no mistress would come forward. But do you get the point... this lady, who also had an affair with Jeffrey Archer aswell as Gordon Ramsay and went public, and no one sued her for lying. Is that not enough for you?

  • @SethHesio No. I don't want examples of lawsuits against publications. You said he should have sued her. I want an example of anyone suing someone for libel because they claimed they had slept with them - as you are suggesting Ramsey should have done. There are none!

The allegation did very little damage to the Ramsey brand. Most grown-ups don't care.

  • @liuzhou You seem to take this very personally. If no one sues, it's the truth.

  • @SethHesio That is idiotic. There are countless reasons why someone may not sue in any particular case.

I am takin gnothing personally. I just find your lack of logic compelling!

  • @liuzhou It's not a lack of logic at all. And you are getting insulting and confrontational. Are you a big Gordon Ramsay fan or something? Look if someone says something about you, and then a newspaper prints the story... and neither the person claiming to be the mistress nor the Publication get sued by the person who's being accused of unsavoury things... then you must conclude that the story is true. The News of the World has been sued countless times for far more trivial things.

  • @SethHesio "If no one sues, it's the truth." Stupidest comment I have read on any website for a long time.

I'd like to see you use that as a n argument in court! And I notice that you still can't give me one example. You keep going back to publications. That is a different issue.

And you still don't know who Ramsey slept with or didn't. Unless you are Ramsy or slept with him..

I'm bored with you now. Goodbye.

  • @liuzhou The name of the woman he had the affair with is Sarah Symonds. If no one sues anybody, it's the truth. That's not a stupid adage at all. Think about it. Do try to think about it. The newspapers in the UK get sued all the time, super injunctions are taken out to stop people talking about affairs. Look at Howard Donald from Take That, he took a super injunction out to stop any coverage of that happening. Ramsay had this affair, and he hasn't sued over the details. It's true.

  • @liuzhou Publications are not a different issue, they're part of the issue, because they can be sued for printing false information or articles. Why do you think no publication has been brought to court over publishing the story about Beckham's affair and Ramsay's affair? If no one sues, it's the truth.

  • @liuzhou why cant you spell properly? its ramsay. Not ramSEY? fucking idiot

  • @CraigWeir1986 Why can't you use capital letters at the beginning of sentences. Rude idiot..

  • Bourdain gets it. We see the real Ramsay in Boiling Point and the BBC version of Kitchen Nightmares.

The US versions of Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares have become so utterly terrible, they're not even fun to watch anymore. They're typical reality television. The network execs WANT Ramsay to yell and scream because tha'ts what the audience wants to see.

  • @TheHockeyCentral Yes, those show are obviously filled with drama influenced by the producers. It's so fake, and almost self-parody. It's a shame because there really is no need for it, or at least I think so anyway.

  • Anthony is the man.

  • The only reason that show was sucessful was cause of the dubiously named title. Hells Kitchen, Bourdain a New Yorker. I'm sure knows worse stories from Hells kitchen, RE gambinos etc. I came back from the Uk and USa to return to Australia. Telling my chefs buddys. My managements style wouldnt would reflect zero tolerance for idiocy. Everyman knows how in the heat of an arguement you have to restrain from using more colorful language on the subserviant staff. They should try to understand

  • If Anthony was on fight with gordon i know who would win.Anthony would defintley win

  • @JasielMartin92

aahahaha ryt...anthony is a fucking weaklink

  • fuck bourdain! gordon is the best chef ever.

  • @ratedr3nigma When did he say that Gordon sucked? He said he hated Hell's Kitchen. Fuck. Do some of you know how to read?

  • hells kitchen sucks!!!

    teenchefteddy.blogspot

  • I agree with this so much. I LOVE Gordon Ramsay and his stuff, but I agree with Anthony Bordain in a heartfelt way.

  • boiling point is exceptional

  • fucking great vd thanks

  • my two favorite food personalities!

  • I love Anthony Bourdain!

  • @Fubs true, also dont you notice the American based bullshit they show to us isn't even about the food or the chefs, its about being SADISTIC and watching your kind struggle and trying to see how they will cope with what's being orchestrated for them, why else would they give some inexperienced chef sea urchin to work with? Bonito flakes, agar-agar, you name it, its all about seeing the reactions of the "chefs", it absolutely has nothing to do with cooking whatsoever.

  • @fukwaynecampaign2 You make some excellent points and really they carry over into most tv these days (since it seems tv is still mostly "reality" tv).

  • @Fubs Fantastic comment. I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Yes, we all know that Hell's Kitchen is a set up hyper-edited shock piece. But Anthony Bourdain is a pretentious concieted oaf who seems to think he has some amazing insight to the world. Does he really think being a Ramones fan makes him a modern day philosopher? Get over yourself pal.

  • Heard him on On Point, he is SO RIGHT about the difference between Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, and the only people to blame for that are the fucking retard producers we have in America, the fucking predictable useless American reality TV experts who make everything into shit. Gordon rules. BBC America rules. Hell's Kitchen is useless and I wish Gordon would stop playing along.

  • I love anthony, the guy always tells it like it is. Looking forward to eating at les halles as a sort of homage to him

  • Great guy AB - just as a point, both 'Kitchen Nightmares' and 'Boiling Point' were on Channel 4, not BBC.

  • I know one thing, I'm sure Gordon Ramsay loves doing Hells Kitchen. Why not? He gets paid loads of money by FOX to yell at incompetent "chefs" and put them under a huge dinner service.

  • @Antiks72 Feel free to leave.........

  • @tonechaser56 I would love to, but thanks.

  • this guy seriously gets on my nerves with his massive efforts to look 'cool',but he does go to some amazing places. its like watching your dad dancing at a wedding..

  • @tadge72 he's lived a life that makes yours boring so he is cooler than you off the bat.

  • @no0neiv ive lived in africa, south america, west and east europe, australia, hong kong and been to every asian country. boring? dont think so. Going to the uS doesn't make you international! he's a bit of a tryhard, trying to be cool. he does go to some cool places tho. not canada though...have you even left the country???

  • @tadge72 Pissing contest: Lived in India teaching mentally challenged kids and the children of prostitutes ("untouchables"). Travelled all through Thailand (on motorcycle) and Cuba (also been to Paris and various parts of the states). I'm currently under demand in the music seen for my poster work. I'm also a music producer, actor (though it's been a few years) and student. Bourdain has been to Canada (Montreal). The proverbial cherry: I'm 22 and things are just getting started.

  • @tadge72 Ps. I wasted my time with that...I thought you may have been a minor threat to my fragile internet ego until I checked your youtube page. Anyone who is a fan of "Bananarama" really has zero (and I mean absolutely zero, maybe even negative) relevance in terms of deeming someone cool or uncool.

  • @no0neiv i think you need to show some evidence of your travels...or of having left the country! I am still winning the pissing contest i think./...working at a school in mongolia last year.

  • @tadge72 This isn't about who's traveled more, it's whether or not you are a reliable source for deeming someone cool. I don't think you are for the following reasons:

    1)you're middle aged

    2) you have no sense of humour

    3) you listen to bananarama

    4) you merit "coolness" by where you've been (shows you're quite possibly over privileged)

Ps. The cheap shot about being Canadian is irrelevant coming from a Brit. Last time I checked you guys were notorious for bad teeth and centuries of inbreeding.

  • Comment removed

  • @illuminatedface I would, trust me. Your comment shows everyone how stupid you are.

  • Bourdain was at one time a fifty something that new what the world of middleclass was about. He experienced I thought real life and made it through to tell about it and have a laugh. But he is a Nuggent loving hipocrite who sees the money first. Too bad. KN UK is far superior.

  • Agreed, the US versions of Gordon's programs are awful compared to the UK versions. I love Kitchen Nightmares from the BBC, but typically turn off the US version if it comes on. Too much drama..

  • I didn't think much of Ramsey till I saw his segment on no reservations

  • @0perat0r Gordon Ramsay was on Anthony Bourdain's show?

  • That was brutal!

  • I have the book kitchen confidential and I´ve read it many times, a classic. but everytime I read the "a day in the life" chapter, I just feel like this guy has waaaaay to much to handle at his job..and like he saysd early on in the book, after his multiple failures he could have tried to work for a bigname restaurant but he was desperate for cash and had some really rough years

  • it's weird - i exactly agree with everything he says. kitchen nightmares UK is one the best shows ever (on Channel 4 by the way)

  • there's a large gap in quality between the UK and American shows. The American series was trash.

  • @alna1287 meybe so but US programs are more entertaining.. and that is what ppl watch TV for.

  • @mobspeak Maybe to you. I was speaking from my own perspective, obviously.

  • @alna1287 I am fully aware that you were speaking from your own perspective, there is no need for you to point that out. Obviously you were speaking from your own perspective, I am speaking from mine, the way I see things. What did you expect was going to happen when you voice your opinion in a comment, this is YouTube and this is the comment section. I can go stating the obvious all day and I too can be as sarcastic as you. This is a response to your comment, obviously. Pointless.

  • @mobspeak Requaint yourself with the definition of sarcasm. If I had said "oh I know the American version is soooo much better!!1, there's like, no human element at all and it's so slickly edited and exciting and I love how dumbed down it is." - that would have been sarcasm. If you had had the class to express your opinion as such, an opinion, rather than an absolute fact - "US programs ARE more entertaining" thereby invalidating my opinion, or made a compelling argument as to why you... cont.

  • @mobspeak felt differently, maybe then we could avoid a "pointless" discussion. Cheers.

  • @alna1287 Your birth was pointless.. just my opinion.

  • @mobspeak Excellent counter-point! You should join a debate team. <-- sarcasm!

Thanks for helping to prove my point about US versions of foreign shows and their target audiences, you've been very helpful.

  • Comment removed

  • @alna1287 It's not a debate, you can't debate an opinion. You are a fucking moron <-- my opinion. debate that.

  • I thought Hells kitchen is one of the lamest shows ever, dont get me wrong, Gordon is the man that got me cooking but the contestants are just.... DUMB and that isnt the real Gordon alot of Austrailians know haha

  • Same here. I got my cooking passion thanks to Gordon Ramsay, and yeah those chefs have no idea what they have to do (but some of them are great also)!!! I love him so much, try watch F Word. For me, it's Gordon's best show ever!!!

  • yeah thats a really good show

  • yeah, the other inexperienced chefs are added for the drama, it's too obvious because why not get all the skilled chefs out there into one show? it won't be call HK if that happens

  • the only possible argument I can see as to why having inexperienced chefs on there being a good thing is that it would show how the good chefs work with morons. I used to like hell's kitchen. Then I started watching his other shows and actually got involved in the kitchen. Holy shit i didn't realize how shitty that show was.

  • @albeanmagz19 Gordon's employee: I only have to serve a hundred and fifty people with only one other chef to Gordon's standards? Please, I did that last night while drunk.

  • I disagree I thought Hells kitchen was as funny as fuck

  • i actually enjoy hells kitchen

  • How do you spell that name he says at 0:59 ?

  • Between :57 and 1:00 he says Michelin Stars (in French it's "Meeshuhlen") and then Alain Ducasse.

  • Why does he pronounce it mee-shlash?

  • @maryduan De quoi tu parles «Meeshuhlen» ça veut rien dire en français

  • Alain Ducasse

  • Alain is the 2nd highest chef with i think.. 14 or 15 stars

  • Alain Ducasse

  • LOL at Digbycat you really had nothing to do but youtube cuss Ramsay zz so many posts... get over it you don't like him don't watch any of his stuff... problem sloved..

  • He played football??

Although it WAS for shitty Rangers..nuff said LOL!!!

  • You REALLY hate him DigbyCat don't you!!

I'm like that with Lily Allen...I hate her.

I do agree with eveything you say though.

  • Fair comments about Ramsay from Anthony. Gordon is one hell of a chef and very shrewd and he works his tits off.

    Gordon, of course, worked under

    The Beast.

It is pure pleasure to watch the imperious, unassailable Marco Pierre White swiftly guillotine those foolish enough to approach the pass with ANY form of unworthy complaint. Hell's Kitchen was a pain in the ass mostly, but Marco's stint there was flashpoint TV

  • I wouldn't want to be a chef. Everything you make always turns to shit.

  • Not true. Can't say that about chefs such as Thomas Keller and Grant Achatz?

  • he is mad over the ratings

  • Never ever stop being Anthony Bourdain, Anthony.

    Keep being real, man.

  • learn2eat

  • Actually Kitchen Nightmares is Channel 4 not BBC!

  • It's on BBC America in the United States.

  • its on BBC too

  • if i didnt know better, id think hes doing stand up comedy haha

  • obviously yous are gunna disagree because u have searched for anthony burdain for a fuking reason??? cause u like him how about we carry this convosation on 1 of gordon ramseys vids

  • I'm not trying to disagree with you, but I'm trying to understand, How is Anthony Bourdain "useless"? And can you be spacific because I want to understand this issue.

  • Do you know who Bourdain is? He's not a comedian. He's the host of No Reservations on the Travel Channel, one of the best and funniest food/travel shows on TV.

  • Yeah, but he's a best selling author, hosts his own show and before he retired, was one of the best chefs in his own right. So you might think he's "useless" but someone paid him big money for an appearence, and people showed up. He might be considdered usefull by conventional standards.

  • How can you criticize someones competency when you don't use the right " their " ?

  • Do you know what his trade is? He's a chef.

Have you read A little book caled Kitchen confidential, The first and most hardcore insight into commercial fine dining establishments. Anthony is a god to chefs. And he's cool aswell. Gordon is great too but i'd say Anthony is more popular among chefs because he's accesible and real, Gordon has these unatainable standards and dictator attitude.

  • well said

  • gordon ramseys is a fuking legend his attitude in the kitchen is nothing more than pure PASSION!

  • Gordon Ramsay is an awesome chef, and Kitchen Nightmare was great. But Hell's Kitchen is TERRIBLE.

  • I 100% agree with that, Kitchen Nightmare is brilliantand Gordon, as much as he's fucking nuts, is amazing but Hell's Kitchen in the UK and US was fucking awful

  • Anthony Bourdain is the world's best FOOD travel writer and narrator. I love him. But Michael Palin is the world's BEST travel writer/narrator.

Love Michael Palin from Monty Python. But, I hate Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen. What he calls the women is just a disgrace!

  • what u mean??? the men get called exactly the same. So what! u wanting him to treat them diffrent???

  • lmao! i dint know he did stand up

  • heh that dude had a heart attack on hell's kitchen this season
