  • killer boots.... maaaaaaan

"THINK IM GONNA KEEP THIS BAD DOG!"

  • When you play it, it sounds sweet. I got one and it screams all over the place. I just can't get it under controll... A friend of mine told me to roll down the "treble" pot on my strat and that helped alot, but that's probably not right, is it? What's your experience? Thx

  • great sound

thanks for the vids man! really helpful and fun to watch.

  • it's Jack Black lol

  • I own Jimi Hendrixs actual Octavia. The actual one from the band of Gypsys. Try to use a non alkaline battery. They didnt have alkaline in Jimis day. A dry cell can make that pedal sound even better. It does sound amazing though! I luv that Octavia pedal. Tycobrahe version is gr8. Chicago Iron did a gr8 job duplicating the octavia. He took Jimis actual 1 apart. Dunlop copied the Octavio at the Hendrix museum. They didnt take it apart & did the wiring wrong. Roger Mayer said that 1 isnt Jimi's

  • dame u gearmanndude, ive just had too buy one of these because of u, £120 (thats about $10,000 to u lol) off ebay, cheepest i could find

  • @ellwrox *damn

  • @OakPark11MileRd 16 in my state haha

  • Nice boots, man!

  • SHOW YOURSELF ''Gandalf Voice''

You must be Jack Black... No doubt.

  • Hi Jack :D

  • I bought a used one at guitar center, they thought it was broken...AMP settings make a huge difference with the fuzz...another youtube demo demonstrates this quality as the fuzz is not as pronounced in THAT video..same as it was at guitar center, but when I plugged it into MY amp, the fuzz was ALL there...and more so. Gate-like phasey feedback at certain settings. Awesome tasty single note definition. Really a knob turners dream. Creates unexpected stuff, that simply sounds CRAZY GOOD.

  • School of Rock was a documentary

  • Octavio, i love you

  • must......have.....

  • ...about to turn it off.....WAIT..this sounds so kick ass....WAIT...No...must keep playing, turn .....off...no wait .....SHAAAZAAAAAMMM!!.

  • F*** this is the sound running on my soul

  • Gearmanndude's distortion/fuzz/OD vids beat everyone.

  • a sound to match the shoes!

  • not J.B.,u morons

  • im buying this asap

  • wow you get that very big thick sound love it very nice like a fuzz face octave wow thanks for that demo

  • that pedal has f-ing BALLS!!! crazy...

  • Why does this guy sound like Jack Black? Is it Jack Black?

  • MUST HAVE!!!!

  • ITS KUNG FU FUCKING PANDA!

  • are you jack black?

  • whats the song at the beggining of the video?

  • @knutdude "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp," off of the Electric Ladyland album. =]

  • what the hell does "just dimed" mean? On 10?

  • @dannon2010 badicly it means just maxing them out

  • 1:11 im not even kidding when i say this, made tears come to my eyes

  • Makes me want to throw away my Big Muff :D

  • Its not Jack Black, its that dude from school of rock. or the guy from tenacious D, or that guy from Kung fu panda, but its not Jack Black. lol

  • is that jack black?

  • @papasee Eric Whorton. Works at a guitar emporium in Louisville, Kentucky. Is not Jack Black. He sounds different in person.

  • @papasee Im sure it is...

  • @papasee probally :D

  • @papasee My same thoughs exactly! lol

  • @papasee hahah holly crap i just asked myself the samething

  • wtf - white coily.. CORD?!

  • awesome, that was really bitching

  • sounds like fuckin jack black.

  • Please just show you face so we can be done with all the fucking Jack Black references.

  • @LoudnProud42 fuzzies are good with batteries dude

  • @dougy12 your gonna need a 9volt clip that can connect to a adaptor. they are cheap and shoulden't be too hard to find. Why coulden't dunlop put a plug on it, I'll never know (It's not like it strays away from the roger mayer version)

  • @LoudnProud42 These things do eat batterys really quickly, I modded mine with a battery clip pretty quickly!

  • this guys voice sounds like Jack Black hahahahah

  • Hi all. does anyone know how to connect this pedal to an adaptor cos mine is EATIN batteries....! Please HELP !

  • The second you turned it on I decided I'm buying this.

  • This pedal would be perfect for some HIM

  • you sound like jack black

  • gearmanndude ! i want this phat fuzz sound but i know to have this thing going to its full sound its going to need to be sent through a nice tube amp. is this worth buying if your giggin in a band but don't have the funds to jam tube yet? Right now i have to play with a line 6 and an old ss halfstack. i was thinking of going cheap and getting the danelectro french toast but i know im going to want to replace it with this so should i just cut the middle man and pick this up?

  • @joewithteeth, Find a 70's Fender Bassman head for $350! Make sure it sounds loud and clean. Any 4x12 cabinet should sound good enough. Next, make a concentrated effort to make sure your guitar is intonated properly for your strings and tuning. Then save up for the Octavia.

  • @1971SuperLead wonderful advice haha i really want a fender amp, gotta love that clean

  • @joewithteeth, Nothing beats a clean 70's Fender with a great pedal like the Octavia plugged into it. The late 70's are the loudest and cleanest. In the 80's it all went to ....crap. I have a 73 Princeton and it's a very clean sounding amp. On 10 it's just barely breaking up. With good pedals in fron of it, it's tonal bliss.

A great sound does not have to be expensive. I love my 2001 Strat I got used for $600. Cheap!

  • @joewithteeth Another amp to look at is the Carvin VT50 head. It's only $549 brand new, A used one should be under $400 and they sound awesome. Check out the ones on You Tube. The Carvin Belair is a 2x12 combo for $699 new and has the same circuit. I really was impressed with the VT50's tone. Van Halenish and more.

  • u sounds like jack black aha

  • how much money do u make??

  • 0:57-1:04 Holy Shit, Godzilla's comin to kill us all!!! lol

  • Jesus Christ I simply have to own this pedal, it looks and sounds fucking BRUTAL.

  • i love that sound man. and when you do foxy . wow !

  • it probably is jack black

  • this guy's voice sounds exactly like Jack Black.

  • @DanMeagher me too! :D

  • can people stop talking about gearmanndude bein jack black and just talk about the pedal being mentioned?

  • u should be playing through a Fender Super Reverb or a Marshall JTM-45, or a Marshall Plexi 1959....

  • this beats the Fillmore thunder octave fuzz. This is sick !!

  • it is jack black

  • The Octavio sounds better if fronted by a fuzz pedal, as it was designed.

  • sounds like more sex in my future.

  • @loranceb hahahahahahahaha best comment ever!!

  • Foxy lady.......... the sound is awesome

  • Lol, you kinda sound like Jack Black

  • That thing sounds ridiculous.. RIDICOUSLOUSLY AWESOME!!!!

  • Jimi always had this amazing way of taking things that played by anyone else would sound annoying, bad, and unwieldy but somehow he would manage to turn it into something beautiful and musical.

  • this sounds absolutely amazing!

  • sounds like jack black with a touch of snoop dogg, am i the winner..

  • its jack black!!!!!!! sing me the math song!!

  • IS THIS A TRUE BYPASS EFFECT???

  • i gotta get me one of those....

  • ...are you jack black?

  • this is one of the nicest fuzz sounds ive ever heard! (if not the best)

  • @nepalnt21 that's because you listen to crap, this is junk to be honest..there's no real control, POG2 or HOG or Captain Coconut beat the shit out of this poser gear. as for this being jack asshole black, who knows you'd think jb would have nicer gear, whoever this gearman is, he is no "GEAR MAN" sounds like someone who reads ads in guitar player to get his info, alone this pedal is junk, and the more pedals you add just gives rise for more hum and noise ya don't see Robin Trower with this crap!

  • @nasticanasta yo why u hatin?

  • @nepalnt21 using the correct gear is NOT hating.

  • @nasticanasta 'correct', huh? so one must spend 500 dollars on gear that you deem 'acceptable'... and all others are inadequate and should never be described as sounding good, huh? i love your attitude... it is gonna get you really far. people LOVE listening to smarmy elitists.

  • @nepalnt21 it sound like shit.. do you have one? I sure didn't spend $500 ..where did you get this number? lol Do you know how much this effect costs? I didn't see any price here. lol you are so intent on saving face (defending your stupid remarks) you don't even know what your talking about.. Go learn what your trying to talk about then come back....people hate listening to losers and posers who use shit gear....Again ya don't see Robin Trower using this junk.

  • @nasticanasta jimi used cheap gear... the hog is almost 500 bucks man look it up... the pog is almost 400, the analog man is discontinued.... what point are you trying to make? that my ears are somehow inferior to yours? i kinda doubt that. maybe if you would learn to listen with them instead of what you think constitutes 'good'.

  • @nepalnt21 lol Jimi had techs to mod his gear....the POG2 is $325 new.. ibought one for $200 off eBay, your just too stupid to look. the HOG is not $500 it's about $400 you purposely over priced these to try and "save face" once again. And as for tone.. maybe you like muddy sounds.. good for you.. I can only speak for myself dumbass just as you left an opinion, I did too.. h\you have no concept of this. Again this pedal isn't worth $125, get a job and youcan afford good gear. sorry you suck.

  • @nepalnt21 how about stop sucking jack blacks dick and go learn how to play I've heard this pedal it sounds muddy and doesn't have much else in variable tones....there are so many better ones out there..even the Boss OC-2 octave for about $40 is better than this. before youstart crying about what others think about a piece of shit pedal go do your homework...as in go try 'em out and stop being the poser you are.

  • how old are you? i have a 14 year old brother that responds more maturely to things that annoy him. how about this... put up some clips on your youtube channel of you playing, and i will put some clips on mine, and in a few months we will see who has the better tone, and who can play better. deal?

  • @nepalnt21 How old are you? I have a 10 year old nephew who has better conversing skills.... I don't have anyoctavers anymore I sold em... I was doing alot of Trower and Hendrix but now I'm in a band doing HeavyMetal/Garage/Hard rock/Detroit style rock but If you wanna hear guitar that I can do..I just don't have any fuzz or octave pedals anymore..don't use em. traded 'em for other stuff... I use all Fulltone gear and I've been buying guitars also, tone doesn't just come from pedals..wow!

  • @nasticanasta hmm it aseems that you have once again failed to actually READ the comment that you are responding to. nowhere have i EVER implied that tone comes just from pedals, and in fact, it would seem that YOU have been implying this the entire time you have been arguing with me. i hardly ever use pedals, anyway, and lately, ive been using one phaser/flanger. are you done being pissed off over nothing? how about you message me once you have your videos uploaded?

  • @nepalnt21 lol it is you who failed, I clearly state I don't use pedals for tone, so I couldn't think this.& It was you who cried with your reply here, I just made a comment about how shitty this pedal really is, it was you got all upset over it..otherwise you would caulk this up to some nut, but yet you have replied over and over showing you are obsessed with this, & all I got are mics I can record me playing but maybe if you didn't spend your money on stupid vidcams you could buy nice pedals

  • @nepalnt21 I only describe the good ones as good.. not ones good because its all you can afford just to make you feel better. That's fucking stupid...I won't say something sounds good if it doesn't this thing is so muddy and the "octave" is weak as hell..again I woul dtake the Boss OC-2 over this, I garantee you this pedal here costs alot.

  • @nasticanasta i didnt say anything about the octave. you can barely hear the octave. do you read the comments you bash? or do you just click on a link looking for somone to throw insults at to make yourself feel better about yourself?

  • @nepalnt21 yeah & when I said this sounded "MUDDY" I'd say that was clearly aimed at the tone, again my tone isn't coming from some stupid pedal. I'm striaght amp a few pedals that's it Fulltone Deja Vibe 2, Fulltone Clyde deluxe, Earnie Ball JR volume pedal...I sold all my pther pedals Ive been buying guitars, I already own BC Rich original USA made original paint job you can't buy Ironbird bought off Ed Roman himself. & an original USA made Stealth, bought a new ESP Eclipse & MH-250 ..etc

  • @nasticanasta i dunno if youve ever played through different types of fuzz pedals, but they DO tend to sound muddy. its just a part of their design... they dont take complex chords and arpeggios very happily. this one, which i have only heard through THIS video, actually has a less muddy sound than most others that i have heard and/or payed through.

  • @nepalnt21 not the Captain Coconut, POG2 and HOG..they aren't muddy and I can arpeggiate over chords and have them ring thru, I already stated I thought the Boss OC-2 sounded better than this..it's a $40 pedal this pedal here is $125 ...also I must add that youask if I ever played thru other pedals. I have named off at least 5 pedals here and you have mentioned only this one, I've been playing for 30+ years and been playing in bands almost as long I think I had tried alot I wont say all but alot

  • @nepalnt21 ya you said this was the best fuzz you ever heard.. i totaly disagree...get it?

  • @nasticanasta i understood this aspect of our colorful rapport quite early on, thank you.

  • @nepalnt21 you are a fucking idiot...this pedal goes for $120 used on eBay... this is your idea of saving money? At least I proved you don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

  • @nepalnt21 it's made by fucking Dunlop..geesh they have shitty wah pedals, people ask me to mod dunlop wah pedals with caps and installing tru-bypass all the time because they suck so bad. Give me a Fulltone Clyde deluxe or an RMC anyday, I used to use dunlop crap long ago and always wondered why I could never get that Trower or Hendrix sound, then I discovered REAL gear the Pros use, and voila` so you can spend $119 on a crap Dunlop and hate it, or spend $250 on a Fulltone or RMC and be amazed!

  • @nasticanasta yeah they do make crappy wah pedals. i modded mine like 5 times before i got impatient and screwed up the board.

and if you listened with your EARS, you might find that SOME gear, even if it is cheap, can sound really good. i have a squier that sounds better than most other guitars ive played. is it because squiers make good guitars? no, i seem to have found a jewel. its about wave shapes and frequencies, and this clip has some nice sounding ones.

  • @nepalnt21 it's a muddy mess to me, sorry I like clearer sound. can't hate a guy for wanting clearer sounds. I never said I hated you, I said I Hated the pedal, you act as if I had threatened your little brother. I think I am allowed to not like a certain product if I feel it sucks. You love it, Wonderful! you finally found that mud sound you enjoy! yay! good for you, I arpeggiate alot and orchestrate over chords.. I can't have muddy crap coming out of my amp none of those notes will ring thru

  • @nasticanasta have fun trying to get complex chords to sound nice with ANY fuzz pedal. hit me up when you find THE ONE that takes a major seventh like a champion.

  • @nepalnt21 I already told you.. a POG HOG or Captain Coconut will allow it. I'm sure there are others...again this is shitty dunlop crap.made for regular folks (as their wahs) who don't know any better... it's sad really as I stated before I used their wahs forever wondering where that Hendrix/Trower sound was....I found it in better quality made pedals.. can a cheap pedal sound good..sure can.. does this one...hell no.

  • @nasticanasta the only pedal you mention that has a fuzz on it is the captain coconut, and that isnt even available anymore. and from the looks of it, i would estimate that it was somewhere between 300 and 600 bucks. sure, there are octave pedals that track well... how about a simple fuzz pedal that can handle chords more complex than a power chord?

  • @nepalnt21 you can buy captain coconuts... eBay has a plethora of gear for anything... I was using all Vintage Tel-Ray Morley pedals from the late 70's for a while...I don't mind sinking $200-300 maybe a lil more for great quality and dependablility and sound. You can get a CC for around $300-$400 off eBay. like I said I bought a practically brand new POG2 at music-go-round for $202 you cn't beat that anywhere...lol I traded it on an Ibanez AR200 goldtop a while back and got $200 in trade for it

  • @nepalnt21 I'm not a great fan of fuzzes because they are usually so muddy, for fuzz I would find a CC just because they do more than just fuzz., & the options for using it are endless. But the CC did allow me to orchestrate over chords, I don't use distrotion pedals i prefer to get mine out of the gain or naturally from amps, I use modulators like chorus's for making crunchy chords blend to one sound, kinda like Pat Metheny or Allan Holdsworth. not that they use crunchy chords, you know

  • @nasticanasta i honestly have no idea what you are talking about in this comment... what are you responding to? i dont think i ever said anything that even remotely sounds like what you claim i said.

  • @nepalnt21 I made a comparative argument...lol never mind.

  • @nepalnt21 I guess what PO's me about this crap is..a stupid company like Dunlop puts names and pictures of Hendrix on their products as if Jimi used Dunlops.. he never used one ever. All his gear was modded or custom built...I guarantee for prices back then,..we would still be having this argument over what costs more.. When I bought my '62 Gibson ES-330 TDC in ...'79 it cost me $350 used, believe me that was alot of cash for a 20 year old

  • @nasticanasta i totally agree with your assessment of dunlop. i doubt roger mayer likes having his pedals copied, and in fact, his comments on his website tell me that i am correct in this assumption. but then, i guess he doesnt mind royalties, either. but the fact of the matter is, for a fuzz pedal, it sounds really good to my ears. the harmonics sound pleasant, compared to other fuzzes, which are often very harsh. but then i bet the roger mayer octavia is a thousand times better.

  • @nepalnt21 I just purchased a brand new ESP LTD EC-1000 black, while I was sitting here from zZounds.com....should be here next week...

  • @nepalnt21 whats the dif between a jap strat & a jap squire? I'd say 0. I'd say it's all in the pickups you use, personally I find EMG's to be the best, I like the Seymour Duncan Blackouts, but I've been using EMGs and they give everything I need and more, there's a reason Judas Priest and the rest all use EMG's, I've been using EMG's since theycame out, I have original EMGS on an old 72 tele custon maple neck/82 Strat body it rules. Even the best guitar on earth would sound like shit thru this
