  • Global Oil warming news....

"The European Climate Exchange (ECX) was launched by CCX in 2005, and is now the leading exchange operating in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme. Since 2006, CCX and ECX have been owned by Climate Exchange PLC.

More than 65 leading businesses, including global companies such as ABN AMRO, Barclays, BP, Calyon, E.ON UK, Fortis, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Shell have signed up for membership to trade ECX products."

  • When will people learn? No matter how much wealth or power one has currently, if such wealth comes from corruption and the suffering of innocents, they and their empire and progeny will come to a bitter end. Every rich mogul or tycoon thinks he/she is the exception and will somehow escape this fate. Just as teenagers think they will live forever and behave recklessly...so too these ignorant rich folk will fall down. From Marie Antoinette to Caligula, every single one will fall.

  • @matreyia I surely support any such justice occurring, but question whether those in power this time will not prefer the complete destruction of all life on the planet to losing their perceived control. Also, with the percentage of sheeple at such an unbelievably unprecedented high, who will be available to bring them down? If the Asian overlords are as ferociously greedy and corrupt as the americans and many of the Europeans, save any evidence of communal awareness, may the force be with you!

  • It's probably true that the war was about denying Saddam the oil, as the sanctions were about to be lifted and who knows what he would have done with that wealth. It is probably also true that we wanted our companies to have the control of it but the embarrassing truth is that we are unable to win the war. By that I mean, we are unable to bring necessary stability to take advantage of it. What will happen is that we will leave, we'll overthrow the next guy and try again. Or take out Iran first.

  • If Iraq was about oil, then why have we left, once, and no leaving again, and have forgotten the oil?

  • It's is absolutely infuriating how politicians and public figures only tell the truth when their careers can't be sabotaged anymore, by retiring. For example, the Rolling Stones interview which Bill Clinton gave to right after he left office expressed his full support for the legalization of marijuana. Yeah Bill, if only you could had done something about it, oh I don't know, maybe even a few month ago, when you were still the president?!

  • Two and two still making four?

The truth counts. Words count. What do we teach our children?

To be accountable for their actions? To tell the truth?

  • the plain truth is that there is no way we will be able to find enough oil to last us another 100 years. Hell, that mount might not even exist on the planet.

Look at the growth rate in usage of oil and calculate the doubling time of that growth rate. You will get something around 40 years. That means we will use up an addition of all the oil we have ever used in history in another 40 years, and thats IF we can find more oil that we have ever found before.

It's simply not going to happen.

  • Bush had this Wor Planed from day one. Yhy some people say Differant is be yond me.

  • @hamptonmark Bush was just a Junior partner in the continuation of the disintegration of our once wonderful experiment in positive government.

  • Innovation is key to taking back power from foriegn countries. When we reduce or eliminate our need for petroleum we redefine our future. With many countries vying for vanishing petroleum. There are now two choices.

1.) Maintain a large military/CIA and hope for the best in the inevitable conflicts with foriegn governments.

2.) Reduce and eventually eliminate our use of petroleum as a source of energy.

How long will two choices remain?

What camoflauge will those choices wear in the future?

  • We can also make oil and have been doing so for many years and its also cheaper to make oil than it is to drill for it.

  • Weapons of mass destruction=lies. Our country's treasure dying and killing for OIL. Shame!

  • the truth should come out and responsible people should be bring to courts

  • live on a ranch in south texas that Exxon leases. Exxon (previously called Humble) has leased this land since 1935 and has huge "proven reserves" -- yet they have just left the oil spilling on the ground and the whole thing decay. Many of the largest gas fields in texas are controlled by the majors with large old leases. Often, no plans exist to produce the oil and gas as they are booked as assets. Look at my videos to see the decay of the infrastructure.

  • In the 70's opening strategic reserves may have made a difference in price. Today it would not. America is no longer the only strong source of oil demand - see India, and China...

Regulating traders would lower prices. The only thing that's really going to help - is getting off oil.

  • and just how do you propose to do that? they may be able to build more economical cars but what about the trucking industry, neither mccain nor obama has said a word about it. mccain voted to drill offshore and obama voted not to. if obama gets elected and does like carter, start resticting foreign and not drilling, mister millions of jobs will go overseas.

  • The War in Iraq ... Proof: the war for strategic dominance of petroleum assets in the middle east ...

  • hogwash

  • couldn't see it because the "you tube " cencorship board got to it first. Pity.....

  • anyone who says PBS should go away in this day and age should shot. After watching what in the hell could make you think otherwise?

  • Great post!

  • What's the problem this is the American way. It's about oil and Bill Moyers is a lefty lackey , so let's not fool ourself.

  • Given what we now know, I wouldn't be surprised if the oil markets aren't being manipulated to "shock" the public into complacency over iraqi and their oil interests.

Why haven't they opened the strategic reserves to bring the price down? After all, one of the main reasons for establishing it in the 70s was to stabilize the market during times of scarcity.

They aren't opening the reserves because they don't want the price brought down. Simple.

  • thank god for honest journalism.

  • How is such blatant political posturing being paid for by public funds? This grandstanding is not appropriate fare for a public station. Let him take his suspicions to another platform.

  • Suspicions? Who has benefited from the war? As a good conservative friend constantly urges me, "Follow the money."

  • Who will profit from us staying indefinitely in Iraq?Follow the money. Who will benefit from not moving away from fossil fuels?Follow the money. Who will benefit by nationalizing Soc Sec? Follow the money. Not fixing health care? No Child Left Behind? Deregulating Industries? Gutting regulatory agencies? Privatizing the military and intelligence gathering? Follow the money. Your friend is right. It explains a lot.

  • please consider adding this video to

BILL MOYERS JOURNAL | Buying the War |

as a video response for those who have not seen the initial report.

  • thank you. you are simply the best.

  • Thank you for posting.

Bill Moyer's journal is the most informative program every week.

Please never let any of O'really agents annoy Mr Moyers again.

I wish Mr Moyers many happy years to inform the public of the whole truth.

  • BigGuy, you are missing the point, were you not listening. George Bush said Iraq's oil would be used to better the lives of Iraqi's and now all that oil is going to American Corporations. You, like the rest of the few Bush supporters or skeptics left, continue to deny facts and turn a blind eye because you refuse to see the truth, because the truth is hard to swallow. This war has been and always was about OIL and this Administration exploited 9/11 and killed hundreds of thousands for profit.

  • The US is owned and run by war criminals. Period.

  • And that NASA guy, come on, 20 years ago he was talking about a coming ice age, now he talks about global warming, make up your mind mr. 'scientist'. Last time I checked, scientists support their work with experiments and data, not conjecture and political agendas bent on socializing everything in America.

  • So why don't you actually look at the data-it's very compelling. You'd have to be a "flat earther" to not see what is so obvious, or work for Exxon/Mobil/etc.

  • If it's about oil, how come we aren't getting any of it? Just wondering...any even if it was about oil, why is that bad? It's delusional to believe any war is about anything except money/resources. If you think wars are fought over ideas, you're dead wrong. We need oil to run America, frankly, i don't care where it comes from.

  • you're everything that is wrong with this country.

  • Well BigDumbGuy, you're a delusional fool!

  • So, it's OK with you if America starts wars for resources?

As the US population ages and have a difficult time maintaining a military, will it be OK if others turn their eye toward us?

  • This video meant a lot to the members of my family. Thanks a lot.

  • Wow... Bill is terrific

  • I love Bill Moyers! Please do a show on PR companies. LIke "the century of the self" by the BBC anyone can watch it on youtube

  • At the same time, however, we're more to blame than OUR EMPLOYEES, for we LET THEM lie to us, we didn't ask any questions, tried to stomp those who did & do not demand that no-bid contracts be made ILLEGAL.

We're to blame for this, not Bush & Cheney, whose policies are as crokked as they've always been. If 1/19th as many people went after Libby, Bush, Cheney, Rove & "Big Oil" as went after Janet after the Superbowl, we'd be in a much different situation...

  • Geez, who'd have thunk...THEY LIED to us!!!

SH kept a lid on any extremist activity in Iraq. That's why he started war with Iran, to keep their Islamic revolution from spreading to Iraq, remember???

  • i wish more people can realize this
