@ToggleBottle No, much as I dislike it I'm pretty sure they assumed that Lelouch had been an IMPOSTER Zero, or something. Everyone believed Suzaku was dead after the Lancelot went down, after all, and so it's probably their belief that the Zero that killed Lelouch was the original (which he wasn't, but that's people for you).

I don't like it, but that's pretty much what the creators implied (though it's possible Toudou, Ohgi and the rest might have piece it together as Nunnally and Kallen did).

He can give them any order, and they will carry it out to the best of their ability. However, it cannot make impossible things happen, such as make a person tell you something that they themselves do not know.

Lelouch used Geass on Suzaku, giving him the order to, "Live on." Now, since this order has been cast, any other attempts to use Geass on him will be unsuccessful.
