New Yorkers value and respect the police and the FD. The thing is... the traffic in Manhattan is jammed. There's just too much cars and, don't forget, streets are pretty much the same for decades! Besides, manhattan is always packed with tourists, buses, delivery trucks, cabs etc.

But you can be sure nyc drivers do their best to give way to emergency vehicles. it's just too hard.
