  • I like eating yoghurt out of old women's cunts who I have raped anally.

  • lol you're so smart and i love you because you always get me through, but two thousand trillion isn't a number!

  • @BestBuyReallySucks 2 quadrillion :)

  • Why haven't you uploaded a video to YouTube in two years :(?

  • what program you are using ?

  • @R994X lol, paint?

  • @XIronCross lol thank i felt so stupid :P

  • u suck

  • 16:20. WRONG. A bacteria tents to get immune to a type of antibiotics quite fast. In the future we might get in terrible trouble because there won't be any king of new antibiotics coming out anywhere soon. The research to create new antibiotics is long, the costs are high, the time it takes is 10+ years, and the amount of time the company's can sell the antibiotics is slim because bacteria gets immune to it fasts.

  • I really would like to see a playlist with him taking sides on debates, it would be interesting change to have someone smart and educated to do it for a while.

  • What is the name of the software you are using to make this drawings? I would like to use it too for helping a few friends ;)

  • @ khanacademy can u do a brain cell video please

  • absolutely amazing what nature can do.

  • the penicilium says YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!!!

  • he is even good at art!!!! anything this dude can't do?!?!?!? haha legend! 16:52

  • when u say pelis it sounds like something else

but ty for the bio review its gonna help during my tests

  • How do you write like that with a mouse. I could never do that!

  • @HarashAhmed i think Sal uses a Pen style peripheral pad .

  • thanks to this my son understands this topic way better thanks khams

  • Gonna have Test tomorow , I wich i knew that much about bacteria like that guy :(

P.S Wich me Good luck :)

  • I would love to see a playlist in which you DO take sides in the debate.

  • Good guy i like your enthusiasm and style of narration, although you do repeat your last few words quite often (sliiightly annoying)

  • "I can stick some bacteria in yoghurt" LOL

  • Baby got Bacteria!!!!!!!!

  • Lol i watch these videos to study for tests! l

  • @DrStarryguy159 lol. me too!

  • to your drawings

  • Which program you are using?

  • Like at 6:35, he tends to repeat things as he types them. I find that this subconsciously REALLY helps me to retain the information. Khan is awesome. I have downloaded all of his videos for future reference. Thanks!

  • Your drawing of a human face was fucking cool haha

  • wow.. your amazing at drawing haha... so didnt expect that human drawing at the end...

  • Your a genius!

  • @LuxuryBarrage You're*

  • @lyricaltesting Oops :P

  • There are actually a few bacteria out of all present out there, which cause diseases. Most of them are beneficial...

  • Who got sent here by Plaag?

  • Loving the high quality!

  • Sal you save me in every subject! physics bio chemistry calculus! I got through college thanks to you :D

  • @martina092092

    me too

  • Can you please do a video on fungi/fungal reproduction? It's a core component of many bio courses.

  • supple , what does that mean.

  • There has never been a video by this guy that I have not learned at least one interesting thing from, even for a topic I have never ever studied before. You should be EXTREMELY proud of what you are doing for education.

  • good video

  • "god forbid"

    lmao yokes

  • startrek! i knew it!

  • well said, That startrek episode sounds a little like SG-1 and the goa'uld.

  • What application are you using?

  • Thanks Khan !!! xD

  • ahahah ''the bacteria is recording video'' u killed me though i did not die, just learned alot in a funny way!! thumbs up!

  • One mistake Sal, bacteria is 10% of the mass if water is removed. So if you weigh 150 pounds, around 70% water, if you remove the water. You're 45 pounds of non-water, so 4.5 pounds of non-water bacteria? It's hard to determine I guess.

  • Thx man , this really helped me

    Sincerely, Geeku

  • Man, if Howie Mandel saw this...

  • I just wanna say thank you! For me you are the best teacher I have ever come across. I like it when you repeat things, remind us again and again. I am going to watch all your videos 59 of them. So far I am very happy and it is very easy to understand you even for people like me with English being my second language. Keep up the good job Bro!!!

  • rodents carry a bug that make them behave suicidally, and humans can also contract this bacteria. I think it's called Leptospirosis. Other bugs cause insects to climb grass stalks to get eaten by sheep so the bug can get into the sheep's liver, where this little "fluke" continues its life-cycle. Bacteria are probably also in charge of main stream politics.

  • You should try to get your videos up to 1080p.

  • I aced my Biology Test! Khan is on a roll, my average is 98%!!! GO KHAN!

  • 'I don't wanna say primitive cuz that's making a value judgment on these guys."

    Haha, love this guy!

  • @Gzorz Ahaha that was brilliant, actually made my day.

  • MRSA-Staphylococcus aureus-is a pretty damn tenacious bacteria, especially when it's acquired in hospital (HA-MRSA). If it reaches the lungs, the patient seems doomed even though medication exists to try to control it.

I've seen bacteria, when I was in paramedic school. I couldn't find one that wasn't ugly. Thinking of them being all over me grossed me out.

  • Amazing. I never really understood the bacterium criteria, but thanks to you, I do! Thank you! :D

  • we need plate tectonics (:

  • LOL 17:15

  • Great video, thanx for sharing it with us!!!

  • salman Khan is god!~or may be A prophet!

  • Bacteria are classified into two groups, gram-positive and gram-negative, based on differences in cell wall composition detected by Gram's staining. Gram-negative bacteria are more dangerous to other life forms than gram-positive bacteria. Bacteria are extrenily adaptable with regard to their physiological adjustment to changes in the enviroments. They are the principal decomposers a of most ecosystems.

  • @crismesa I used to live w/ a guy who was a doctor of medicinal chemistry. He was a biochemist.

He used to try to explain this to me but always went way over my head. If he'd explained it the way you did, I would have understood it- a little.

BTW I always thought gram-positive were bad. Isn't MRSA gram-positive?

As a health technician, I've seen the horrors of MRSA. Now I'm going to have to look it up.

  • i think the most interesting fact in this video is that approximately 10% of me is bacteria working in symbiosis

also according to the statistics he gave, the mass of a typical bacteria has about 180th of the mass of a typical human cell

  • Are the sprinklers going off in the background?

  • this is awesome!!

  • some people make light of your videos, disrespect , but my opinion is that they are nothing short of informational seminars. Keep up the GREAT work Sal!

  • yay! i understand it now!

too bad i already took my biology test.. oh well. i will do better on the next one.

    thank you, sal!

  • You > God...... In soviet Russia God asked Kahn how to make shit.

  • Facinating.

  • NERDS .....................JK

  • you should of mention how we classify bacteria (shape, cell wall, respiration).

But still pretty solid video. Thanks

  • nice drawing

  • Just one thing I thought should be clarified:

The majority of prokaryotic organisms have cell walls. That means that both Bacteria and Archaea do *tend* have cell walls, but they're not made from cellulose (so they're not the same as the ones you'd find in eukaryotic plant cells, for example).

  • hey i was gonna learn this is science ;D TY I would not fail my exams now LD

  • great video .. love the colours and the diagrams .. im amazed at how well and fast you can draw a human head !! i cant draw to save my life :P oh.. i also love how interesting you make biology xD

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, what did you use to write?

  • a tablet

  • With what program and "pen" was that Video made?

  • I didn't know that bacteria can cause depression

  • awesome video , thanks alot mate ..... keep it up more about biology and medical stuff thanks ..

  • wow this is great. thanks so much!

  • would it be possible, just possible, given enough time, that bacteria could form large creatures like us? could they form larger colonies that incorporate different bacteria that do different functions, like us? If there were aliens made out of bacteria, I want to meet them.

  • they exist, they are called politicians, and most are the bad kind. we need a soap that will remove them!

  • oh of course. I forgot about Corruptus Idiotas, also known as politicians. Thats why they are always so dirty, your right. We need soap!

  • @midnight9wanderer LMAO!!! AGREED! that is soo funny!

  • this helped me so much on my fungi research paper..thanks!

  • I took Microbiology 101 in college.

Bacteria don't replicate. That's supposed to be the difference between bacteria and viruses. I don't remember how bacteria multiply; but viruses attach themselves to your RNA and copy the structure so it can consume the cell with copies of it itself. That's why finding a cure for viral diseases is so difficult. They can't kill the virus w/out destroying the whole cell.

You can ask your wife if you don't believe me.

  • Staphylococcus=round-shaped bacteria in groups or clusters

  • I didn't say that right. Bacteria DO replicate, they just don't need a host cell to do it. Viruses use cells, b/c they can't replicate without them.

This information came from my supervisor, Britt--Senior paramedic.

  • That's not right. Bacteria do replicate. Like an animal cell they can replicate their DNA and split in two. Maybe what you're remembering is that viruses cannot replicate on their own - rather they must infect a host cell.

Viruses don't multiply the way you described. They have their own genetic material, DNA or RNA, and they get the cell they infect to copy their DNA and to produce the proteins necessary to assemble new virus particles.

  • @vickiormindyb HAHAHA... bacteria don't replicate?? may be before posting this comment you should of simply googled it. have you heard of bacterial replication? bacteria and human cells replicate in a very similar manner, so they do replicate. and there are viruses that affects your DNA as well not only your RNA. there are so many successful medications available for viruses.. yes they do have some side effects but can get rid of the virus from you body.

  • @bhuri02 Bacteria don't act the same as viruses.

That's all I meant, and I don't exactly trust Google since they created Chrome.

  • Yoghurt anyone?

  • HE'S SO GOOD !

  • this video looks different

  • khan ( emperor, king- in mongolian) academy rules!!!!!!!!!

  • sal does that little squiggly line at the end of the words you write represent all the missing letters of that word?

    penicilliu~

    :)

  • Binary fission is considered different than mitosis? Both still have cytokenesis and probably the whole prophase/ metaphase/anaphase/telophase thing. I suppose bacteria don't have centromeres and theres probably not the same mechanism for pulling the DNA apart and distributing the genomes between the two new cells.

Don't think I've head an classes talking about prokaryotes since 8th grade or so.

  • Cytokinesis is distinct from binary fission and mitosis.

  • wowzz your good at drawing!

  • LIME DISEASE!!!

    I want pineapple disease.

  • you are the man....do more videos on housing and economy i am an econ major and i find your videos interesting

  • omg, how did your handwriting improve? Tablet PC? Or just prowess? By the way, is Khan academy being maintained by a group of people or is it just by you?

  • It's obvious ...isn't it? He is not using MS Paint anymore

  • lol... all along, i thought that he was using his mouse to write on the computer until i saw his site.

  • He is. He is just using a thinner pen tool.

  • How did your handwriting improve all of a sudden?

  • haha i knw i noticed that too...

    handwriting luks diff...

  • @Chitownboy1023 increased the resolution of his tablet, handwritting didnt change

  • @Chitownboy1023 something is wrong with his pen pad......

  • @Chitownboy1023 He used to write with a computer mouse. Now he writes with a stylus on the Wacom Bamboo Tablet.

  • @Chitownboy1023 Probably pays someone else to do it, so he can focus on the material and script better. I'm not complaining, this guy is getting me through my A Levels!

  • Khan is the best!!

  • god forvide???

  • god forbid lol

  • I've... never used that phrase..

  • as in it was a reply to your comment which was "god forvide???" so I replied in hopes to clear your confusion - he said "god forbid" =]

  • nice
