In this case its not just the plane its also the pilot. He must have logged plenty of hours to do what he just did. How many hours does that pilot actually have?
You are false this aircraft is very long and complicated to built: this is the price for the lightweight for a complete aluminium plane. looks like a ultralights but isn't: only a good skilled pilot can fly it safe but he is very reactive...
Nice. I wouldn't mind having one of my own. Landing looked a little sloppy, but I'm sure that's mostly due to the size and responsiveness of the craft and not so much the pilot.
Pure joy. If it weren't for the 2-stroke engines' noise, flying the CriCri has got to be the closest thing possible to being a bird. That thing looks like 85 kilos of pure fun.
what kind of engines are those, do u control eachone separately? YOu gotta get hit me back that is the smallest plane ive ever seen. Are the wheels powered at all
One of the best videos on flying. As a pilot, this gives as close a view and feeling, of flying, as you can get by watching a film. Beautiful composition & wonderful music. I fly conventional, experimental and ultralights. It's the smaller planes, like the CriCri, that really give the feeling of soaring like a bird. Many pilots come into my hanger, to check out my plane and they all have the same comment. "I would love to fly something like that, but just don't have courage.
Holy crap I'd hate to stall the engines. Yer gotta get out of the seat for a pull start. Longer cords is an option I hope. And look at the seat at 1:13 Its an old deck chair.
heeh well during the startup what if the brakes let go? i dont see any chocks:) safety first, and any video with OEI performance? can it even fly straight and level on one engine?
jaja exelente diseño de aeronave genial casero por lo q veo, motores de rc increible ya se q are mas adelante y felicito a los diceñadore muy buena aerodinamica excelente
@CyberAsomatous it wasn't the engines that where jiggling it was the whole plane (i think the shocks on the landing gear are loose or at least the springs are)
@CyberAsomatous hehe...to compare sticks to efficiently engineered, environmentally relevant technology is as "comforting" as 8th grade compared to university education.
oh man that looks like it would be amazing and beautiful, being able to fly around like that and see everything about you... this is something to put on my "things to do before i die" list (if i had one) : )
Heh! ...it sure can. One of these fascinated us at Popham one year, my wife really liked it, and when the owner flew out, she was ecstatic when he did a circuit at full speed.
Of course, _she_ would fit inside!
Me? Never! I'm well over 6 foot now, so would not have fitted since I was 13 years old.
Clever aircraft design - believe that some adminsitrations allow it to be flown on a single engine pilot licence, since it behaves so well with an engine out.
Designed by Michel Columban from France, billed as world's smallest twin. Recent crashes believed to have been caused by unauthorised mod's to Michel's superb original design. There's even one with twin turbines. Cri-Cri is french for cricket (the insect not the game) and is shown on the logo. Do a net search and find out more about this amazing plane.
Just another youtube wanker with an (illinformed) opinion!
I have a PPL and some say the same re new composite aircraft like the lancair compaired to say a cessna 172. The new stuff TEARS TO SHREDS THE OLD SHIT. And is also cheaper, a new C172 (basic 4 seater) costs about $450K Aussie easily. BLOODY RIDICULOUS!
dumb question. . .Where was this video taken at? Are they not required to run strobe lights there? Here in the US they must run strobes any time the engines are running or the aircraft is in motion.
Lovely little aeroplane, but looks very 'twitchy', I think I would get one of my radio control aerobatic models out to practice for a first flight on type! I have been in love with this minimal aeroplane from the first time I saw the earliest prototypes. My first solo was thirty five years ago on a Druine Condor, taildragger with no flaps, that was pretty much a minimal machine too. Those people who are terrified of the engines stopping - they don't go down like Wile E. Coyote into the canyon!!
Looks well fun. I've flew a 4 man plane with a pilot. I'd love to fly a plan alone it would be great but you gotta go through too many COSTLY lessons lol. Nice vid though what an awesome plane
I saw this so many years ago and never was a skeptic of it. We have built a small plane as teenagers out of aluminium pipe and mylar and placed dead weight in the front and rolled it down a hill. It took off and I glided it for a fair distance. It was the best experience of my life. We didn't have the money for an engine so we just glided it off the hill slope for fun. The cri cri would be difficult to fly. So sensitive on the stick.
