I think he should follow his own advice about fiddling around with knobs for different sounds and tones. The obvious first choice would be a different amp - a Peavey classic 30 tube amp would do fine. He would fuck it up by putting some maximum overdrive stompbox inline.
This guitar also needs to bee played through a Who model Hiwatt (4 volumes, 1 bass, 1 treble, and 1 master volume). That's how you get "that" sound that Davey boy here is "reviewing."

@RobinIvarsson that's not because the amp sucks - it's because the amp kind of covers up the nuances of the sound of the guitar and makes them all sound pretty much the same. the spiders are alright amps for the price - they aren't that good, but they do the job and don't really sound "bad". you could do a lot worse.
But what i meant was that it is a pretty bad amp the review the sound of a Les Paul or any other guitar for that matter when your on the "Extreme" pre-set on the amp.
You can get that "ballsy" sound from any kind of guitar using that pre-set. Using a more organic sound like let's say from a tube amp would do more justice to the guitar the the Line 6 Spider amps.

Evidently this guy doesn't know shit about Gibson guitars. First off, trapezoid inlays are in fact the Gibson "standard" inlays. The blocks are only on Les Paul Customs. Second, every time he sees a Gibson he says, "the tuners are probably Kluson. Kluson? Some type of Kluson..." As for his guitar tone - That Gibson probably sounds the same as a Squier Strat would with those settings. Turn down the damn gain.

I love how the goldtops look different, in different light situations, with the light behind them they have a green gold tint, while direct light at the front gives them the bullion colour, and subdued lights give you in between the two etc etc. Lovely!

seriously, love this guy, but dude, use a tube amp, even a cheap fender super champ, on clean channel....would be helpful to those of use who'd like to really see what this guitar sounds like by itself.

Your camera sucks fat balls and so does Line 6. If you're going to do a decent review, use a decent amp. It sounds like every other guitar I have heard through a line 6.

If you wish to show us the TONE and SOUND of the instrument, why don't you play it through a good, simple tube amp?

Evidently this guy doesn't know shit about Gibson guitars. First off, trapezoid inlays are in fact the Gibson "standard" inlays. The blocks are only on Les Paul Customs. Second, every time he sees a Gibson he says, "the tuners are probably Kluson. Kluson? Some type of Kluson..." As for his guitar tone - That Gibson probably sounds the same as a Squier Strat would with those settings. Turn down the damn gain.

Pete had three pick ups on his LPs. If it's really a model PT it should have those big numbers on the body, like Pete's and of course it should be played over 100 Watts Hiwatt amps to get Pete's sound

I love how the goldtops look different, in different light situations, with the light behind them they have a green gold tint, while direct light at the front gives them the bullion colour, and subdued lights give you in between the two etc etc. Lovely!
