  • its amazing cuz they sound JUST like this on the record.

    fucking badass.

  • i can't believe they didn't continue because of their fame..

  • @Nookie691 probably because they werent in it for the fame, they formed a band to make music because thats what they were about, not selling them selves out like cheap whores

  • Saw them in 1988 in Minneapolis and there were only 20-30 people at the show, but it still rocked!

  • awesome music!! daaamn.. I was 3 years old when they were playing this stuff..

  • one of the most influential bands in ska/punk music get a round of applause like that what the very fuck!

  • Where was this, Cloverdale, CA? Looking for footage from when I met lint at the Boys and Girls Club Show!

  • @cafethis This was in Guerneville CA

  • 5 dislikes?? How the hell did that happen? Did people accidentally hit the wrong button? How could someone even come across this video unless they were an Operation Ivy fan?

  • Skankin!

  • audience fail.

  • Best Op Ivy song.

  • @LighterB Working fine for me...

  • I'm now 26 and first heard them when i was 14 and still enjoy them as much now as i did then

  • @MrHellsyeah Im 37 and first heard them when I was like 14, and still love them.

    Seen them live once...

  • My favorite band right here. Me and my friend are starting a Punk/Ska band and this is probably our biggest inspiration

  • @Trevor9849 post some vids

  • Love this. Reminds me of Ramones from 70's, early 80's with so much energy.

  • 4 people dislike this video? How could anyone dislike a live clip by Operation Ivy which actually has semi decent audio?? Getting a good live audio clip of original Operation Ivy is very rare. Screw those 4 people!

  • THE TRUEST SHIT!!!! MAKES ME WANNA SKANK!!!!!!!

  • this is the first operation ivy song i listened to. it got me hooked on punk music and i've never looked back.

  • will be one of my favorite bands forever one band i wont forget ENERGY was one of if not the best CDs of all time

  • oh dear me, this is wonderful

  • the best front man in the whole world right there

  • Is it in the Gilman?

  • 4 people don't know shit about good music.

  • *sigh* what i would do to see them!!

  • i love operation ivy.. skankin every music that they made.. 87-89..

  • 1:00-1:03 gives me chills

  • Major influence right here!!!!!!!!!

  • i had this dream last night that i was at a op ivy reunion show

  • best band ever.. I wish they were still playing today

  • Discovered operation ivy a few months ago and cant stop listening to them. I just wish they recorded more music. Any punk aficionados know any similar bands I should be listening to? (less obvious ones than rancid and nofx)

  • @sonetlumiere12345678 lower class brats, the casualties ect.

  • @sonetlumiere12345678 Against All Authority, Chocking Victim, The Specials

  • @FartFaceJimmy ahh choking victim.. cheers mate!

  • @sonetlumiere12345678

    Slapstick.

  • @sonetlumiere12345678

Definitely Choking Victim and Leftover Crack. Link 80 is a great one insightful lyrics, grungy feel (get either 17 reasons or killing katie, after that the lead singer changed). Coquettish is a crazy hyped up Japanese ska punk band that sound like they followed in these guys foot steps. Common Rider, is the lead singer's next band.

More poppy, but still great bands that were influenced by them are MU330, Less Than Jake, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, many more.

  • Damn, this shit is taking me back. Let me know if you want any more recommendations I loved this stuff.

  • @greatworkteam cheers man that was quite a response! Since I posted that comment i've really got into choking victim.. such an amazing band!

  • fuck! that is amazing stage energy that they have!

  • Is it just me or is Jesse Michaels trying to imitate Jello Biafra's stage moves? Or at least the influence bleeds through.

  • Shit, I would have LOVED to be at one of their shows.

  • Wow this is such amazing footage

  • One of my favorite bands. I wish I had seen them live

  • fucking amazing

    many memories

one reason why i play guitar actually

  • This is a test please ignore

  • Um... Yeah, this song is dedicated to my dad: Mr. Military Police.

  • Op Ivy rules!

  • lazy crowd

  • i would fuckin kill somebody to have been at this show

  • Look at matt! Hes so young!

  • and i know its the same singer but im talkin about the music itself

  • It's actually not the same singer - Tim was OI's guitarist and backup singer. The lead singer was Jesse.

  • they rimind me alot of rancid

  • Energy is one of my favorite albums of all time.

  • is that tim

  • Fuck yeah

  • Listened to so much punk and ska. Have to say Op Ivy is my favorite (besides BR) out of anything I've ever heard in my entire life. They just had that perfect sound. Now we have...Muse. Sweet.

  • Really? Bad Religion over Op Ivy? I don't know about that...

  • @TheSkunker BR gets me thinking more than Op Ivy, but OI's sound is so so so great. If BR, and Op Ivy, fucked, and made a baby, then that'd be a tasty ass baby I'll tell you what.

  • @BustaMoveSon Bad Religion are OK. but Operation Ivy is way more fun to listen to.

  • this is what i call music

  • yeah.

  • :3 i love this song!!!!

i went to a classics of love show last year...shit was rockin ;D

wooo but this song just gets me hyper! XD

  • Yeh i got to see Jesse with Classics Of Love last year - one of the best shows ive ever seen!! And he chatted with me and my friends outside the venue for an hour!! :D

  • Damn this shits amazing..

  • no shit i was in 4 grade then and was wanting to see them

  • The audience should be deeply ashamed. There are many many people today who would sell their grandparents to have been at that show.....

  • Haha count me in that group. I'd sell my entire family to be at this show.

  • hahaha

  • the better question is, who would buy the grandparents? =P

  • i'm one of them...i was only 3 years old haha

  • @00roastedlampost00 My grandparents are dead. Fuck it, I have no use for them.

  • @00roastedlampost00 I know i would...

  • @00roastedlampost00 I am one of those people!!!

  • @00roastedlampost00 I completely fucking agree! Op IV, definitely one of my favorite bands

  • @00roastedlampost00 I would sell much more than my grandparents!

  • @00roastedlampost00 I know I fucking would :(

  • @00roastedlampost00 Fuck that id rip off my own cock and throw it into a river to see that show.

  • @00roastedlampost00 I would sell both sets of them Old farts to have seen this!

  • wow tim has hair!

  • its a hat

  • i was gonna post the same thing!

  • cool!! nice memories

  • These dudes started my love of music back then.

  • ahhhh it;s allll the sammmeee! although these guys were pretty early

  • Fun show.

  • I was at Jesse Michaels first Uk show in my local pub a few months ago.. Fucking awesome.. Just the one op ivy cover but his other stuff is still ace.

  • i know some members formed a band called Dance Hall Crashers and they were a damn fun ska band

  • wooot! love them

  • Jesse Michaels formed Common Rider and now Classics of Love..

  • whats the lead singer's name???anybody!!!!

  • Jesse Michaels

  • thx a lot :)

  • i would give away my car, my house, everything to have been at an op ivy show!

  • god i dont have any of that but i would give away my education and my friends to see operation ivy play

  • why aren't they a band anymore?

  • They only where for about two years back in 87-89. They just broke up and thats it. I dont car what kind of band were talking about in any relation, but every band breaks up eventually. Its just nature.

  • Lead singer left

  • nobody really knows for sure why they broke up

  • rancid: journey to the end - pretty much sums it up :)

  • how?

  • I believe some(or all?) of the band members then formed the band RANCID

    =)

  • just tim and matt(guitarist and bassist) formed rancid

jesse kinda left the scene and became a monk for awhile, I dont really know what happened to dave mello or his brother pat

  • dave mello made a band more a short time called schlong

  • We have the Schlong video on BlankTV. Check it out.

    sunset

    BlankTV

  • @rockerlrf would you happen to know wat kind of guitar lint is playing i know its some sort of strat copy

  • you can see where davey havok got his stage pressence from haha

  • yeah "magotcoveredbabies" you're really one to talk shit on this. Pure energy right there. One of the best vids on youtube.

  • Perfect. Punk should be played/recorded live, else it loses its grit.

  • fuck yea. id much rather listen to minor threat's sound quality than say the sound quality of todays punks bands. its seems like it has more aggression and force with the shitty sound quality.

  • if it weren't for punk-rock guilt, maybe they'd still be together. I love rancid btw

  • Ahh quit a acting like your nuts, pick it up-pick it up, pick it up-pick it up, ah just shut the fuck up!

  • Oueeeee Operation Ivy c'est toute mon adolescence, Ils sont enormes fantastique orgasmique! Je pourrai toujours les écouter et les adorer! Direct From Belgium, WE LOVE YOU, MAXIMUM RESPECT

  • Op Ivy is one of those bands I'll never get sick of listening to...even if it's all the same stuff with nothing new

  • one of the best bands ever..i just wish they hade more albums...but rancid and common rider are good but there not op ivy....there sounds are like u split op ivy in half..lol....put them back 2geather.

  • hey maggotcoveredfaggot its called energy, something few to no bands play with anymore

  • Well your cockblowing horrible don't talk shit in comments

  • you suck you fucker! op ivy is the shit!!! go cut your slit you fuckin emo gay fucker!!!

  • So true! So fucking true!

  • yea if i had to pic between rancid or opiv id pick opiv cuz both rancid and common riders arent as good :[

  • rancid sucks, op i takes the cake

  • these guys were so bad ass, such a talented band

  • it´s a very great song from then to now..

  • OI!!!

  • Tim and Matt are so young in this.

  • rise against don't have the raw energy of my heroes operation ivy. I still listen to this shit 20 years after they broke up. I won't listen to rise against at all. They are good musicians. That don't mean shit to me. I like it sloppy and raw just like my women....Oh right!!!!

  • haha true

  • u wierdos need to stop talkin about rise against. Op ivy rules!!

  • Rise Against is in my oppinion one of the best punk rock bands still around today. they put on an amazing live show. wether it be a big venue or a small venue. the music is fast and just as energetic as a ska band. (I am not mocking ska whatsoever. because it is my favorite genre of music) their new CD may not sound exactly like their first. but would you wanna play the same music for 10 years now? (unless it was ska. that can never get old.)and their songs are about standing up for your beliefs

  • best punkrock bands that are still standing are most def: rancid, bad religion, the offspring (though they can also be considered pop-punk) and NOFX and social distortion, and dropkick murphys ofcourse.. but that's my opinion

  • all very good bands. i didn't know social d was still making music tho. thats awesome.

  • yeah social d rocks, im saying them 6th of july, wich is my fucking birthday woohoo

  • social d kicks ass!

  • social d sucks. They butcher all music they play with talentless guitars and shitty vocals, they just managed to sell themselves properly to the upset children of weathly suburbia. They listen to shitty punk music because it is their attempt at rebelling... At least Oivy stood for something and played their music still without any recognition in this music industry.

  • I gotta agree with ya on that one.

  • yeah thats why i like op ivy. jesse michaels is my fuckin hero and matt freeman and tim mannn inspiration is somewhow more than just sound WHAAA

  • Meh, dunno about that list. What about the Adicts? Subhumans? Cock Sparrer? 7 Seconds?

  • those are good bands too, definatly, cock sparrer is pretty fucking amazing, i've got a live dvd wich is watch quite alot, you definatly complete the list abit more, we should include pennywise too.

  • ??? omg, are subhumans makin new shit still?!?! or do they jus play shows now?

  • They had a new cd a couple years ago called Internal Riot.

  • this band right here... you see this band right here???????????? this is one of the reasons i listen to music. fuck.... they're so good.

and Rancid, standing on their own arent really half bad (leaving alone selling out, going mainstream, blah blah what the fuck ever). i still support Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman.... but im just so bitter because they ARENT Operation Ivy.

myabe i just have some sick thought in my mind that they'll be back... i can always dream, right?

  • right there with ya!

  • im not that familiar with rancid just because bands go mainstream doesnt atomattically mean they suck.....true i am not crazy about practacally all mainstream stuff today but there are some good mainstream bands even if they arent your favorite genere.....you know what im sayin?

  • i was talkin bout rancid btw

  • fuuck yeah

  • the leyendari lint armstrong

  • Telling someone what they should or shouldnt listen to is decidedly NOT punk.

  • why is someone a sellout for being good at what they love to do? Rancid is one of the last remnants of punk this piece of shit music industry has to offer. They are keeping it alive and you are calling them sellouts? Pretty fuckin low dude.
