1- Life of ordinary cattle: live locked in a stable, fed with the worst quality fodder and chemicals, drugged to grow fat, and carried stacked on a truck to the slaughter house to die from a hammer to the head when 2-3 years old.

Two humans choosing to fight is totally different. Those bulls do NOT choose to be starved and tortured for two days and then tortured some more in the 'fight' against the matador until they are killed. Note, I did not include rodeo sports either - they are a far more even match of man against beast (bull/horse).

@mcriii yes, one *could*. But we don't. Of all the gazillions of animals eaten (I'm all for eating them, btw.), probably less than half a percent is killed 'humanely'. The rest is barbaric slaughter. Nor am I saying that bull fighting ought to be thought of as 'cool'. But the animals killed there don't even figure in the greater scheme of things. All the outrage would be better--more efficiently--placed somewhere else... not at this particular 'high visibility' cultural event.

Mind you, I'm not propagating vegetarianism only because some 99.95% of all consumed meat comes from far-less-than-ideal meat factories.
