Its true, Platinum Protection is pure garbage. Just Google “Platinum Protection Scam” and read the complaints, go to the BBB website too. They make snake oil salesmen look reputable. They go around giving the same “you may qualify for a free security system” speech. Over $50 a month later you see that nothings free. I opted out the next day but after 3 days you pay might pay $2400 to get out. I’ve informed neighbors, newspapers, local government and websites about these idiots. FU

Platinum Tech - After three years of unemployment and barely getting by, Platinum Protect gave me a job as an installer. Maybe there were problems back in 2007 in Milwaukee, but I can tell you that they train us better than that. If our install is not done right, we have to go back and fix it at our own expense. Some people just don't care about there job. You will find that at most every company. I'm just glad to be finally working again and take that very seriously.

This is disappointing... This company should have gotten their permits, but consider the job they are doing in this particular community! Come on, they were giving alarms and basically protecting families. I was leery after they installed, but my system works great and the customer service has been prompt. I would recommend the company.

Bleh, I have no sympathy for people who get fooled into these kind of things. NEVER sign anything unless you've read what you're signing. If they pressure you and don't give you time to read, that should be a red flag. Yeesh. I don't think it's the responsibility of the salesman to explain everything, they never have, and never will. It's the responsibility of the signer to know what they are signing. In court, a judge doesn't care what's said, it's all about the contract.

Platinum Protection is a fly by night scamming company that only has one perminant office in Utah. They set up make shift offices in an apartment complex in a city near you for the summer and leave by mid August. Their install is a joke and their customer service is horrible. They lie, cheat, and steal from their customers and employees. Fly by night scammers. STAY AWAY.

Chances are you either simply had a bad experience with a company, are bashing it because you are a sales rep with another company, or you are just a failed salesman aiming for revenge. Since 2007, they've done some serious improvement regarding their products, and more importantly customer service. Since I've had my system, it has stopped two burglars and they cut the phone line both times. Luckily Platinum gave us Cell PRIMARY. You dont even need a home phone line.

They're a nationally notorious scam operation. They do demographics, go door-to-door to old people's homes (despite fact her condo has "No Solicitors" signs). They went to my mom's house 10 minutes after sister left for work. What a coincidence! To use your logic, you must be 1 of their executives!

I believe these guys set my parents up. For what i remember my dad telling me, platinum talks to the homeowner over the phone to make sure the salesman was telling the truth. And so they knew that there was a 3 day cancellation period and it lasted like 5 years. They were pleased. But maybe they were just lucky. "they are pushy" what the hell is that! Car advertisements on t.v are pushy, they are on every 10 seconds. As long as my parents are safe then I'm chill.

I got took by these people , i was told I had 90 days to cancel. They said I had 3 days to cancel and I had a contract for 5 yrs and had to pay the balance of $1,800, I don't think so , will contact the BBB and will cancel bank drafts , The salesmen just outright lied and when I contacted the office ,they were adamant that I had a five year deal and thats it, well they will never be broke since I not paying them jack. They came come get they crap if they want ,it will be in a box by the door.

Although the techs work does reflect on the company, its not the fault of the salesman. He most likely actually wanted the best for his customer and it was just ruined by a lazy technician who gets paid by the job not the hour so sometimes will cut corners.

Their sales are lacking too. Ours lied to us and then I figured out the salesman didn't have a liscence in our state. Big suprise. I was able to get out of the contract, though. The tech did have a liscence, btw.

not necessarily true. im a technician for pinnacle, and we actually have inspections done twice a week...if you fail one you get a warning, fail 2 its a fine, fail 3 its fired. we also have corporate inspectors come and inspect our work every so often. and if i have an open ticket (a customer with a problem with their system) at the end of the week, then my rent isnt paid for for that week, i have to pay for it myself. So yes, we actually do care about the quality of the install

I've had a Platinum security system in my home almost a year & love it! The representitive was very clear on what I was getting & the terms of the contract. You have to complete a survey with the corporate office confirming eveything you & the rep discused to make sure everything is clear beofore anything is installed. They are on the ball & alerted the police when someone tried to pry open my door with a crobar. Thanks Platinum! You saved my valuables and my family. I recommend you!

These guys just pulled a scam on my 76 year old mom in Vegas. One of their door to door salesmen approached her at 7:00PM on a Saturday night to sell her a new alarm - WTF??? I just happened to call and spoke with the salesman and told him to leave a proposal. I called back a half hour later and discovered that their tecnicians were installing an alarm despite my previous conversation. I told them to leave and finally they did but not before disabling my mom's current alarm.

I work for APX Alarm, a similar company. Actually, Platinum was founded by former APX people. Anyway, they operate with a similar structure that we do. The technicians are almost always well-trained and do their best to install a good product. At the end of the sale with APX, the customer actually answers a phone survey with the data entry person. They verify all of the terms, including monthly rate and contract. The customer 99.99% of the time knows exactly what they're getting into.

The calls are even recorded to make sure you actually spoke with them and understand all that is going on monitoring rates, contract, etc.

My parents have an alarm with this company and they love it. If you had a bad experience its probably your own doing. I talked with my parents after i was showed this and they said that their alarm system was installed perfectly...and my mom is anal about keeping the house clean. No exposed wires or problems after it was installed. They also said that it works...it went off by accident and the company called them right away to see if the police should come out.

I switched over from ADT to Platinum but as soon as my three years are over I will change back to ADT for sure. Last summer this company conned over 15,000 people out of their money. This year it will probably be more. I saw the first person in DC today. I hope that the news agencies are able to expose these con artists before they leave town with everyone's money. I bought a system from these clowns against my better judgement because the salesman was a nice guy and I thought it sounded like a good idea. A couple months later my system wouldn't work and couldn't get someone to fix it.

One last thought. Don't feel sorry for these poor college kids out trying to make enough money for college. Some of these guys will claim to be interns but that is an out right lie. The majority of these guys are college drop outs, and an increasing number of ex-cons, who have found they can make a lot of money scamming old people out of their money. Continuing my last post. Then after an hour presentation they say oh and I just need to get you credit card, what? It is just a dollar a day to connect you to the police, fire, and medical. I thought it was free? Well it's not free it is actually 44.99-49.99 a month for 5 years, do the math and that is $2999.44 for a free system. Often times the people they sign up are old that they have no clue what is going on but the salesmen are nice and seem honest so the seniors go along with it, beware!

Let me echo the comments of some other posts. As a former employee of this company let me describe their sales approach and you decide this is "honorable." First, they knock on the door and say Hello I'm with Platinum but don't worry I'm not selling anything! Then they say they are doing "advertising." If you will put up a sign we'll give you this alarm for free! Wow great deal right? To old people and low income families in dangerous neighborhoods this is too good to be true so they sign up.

It's not right for Platinum to skirt around laws like getting licensing for their salesmen, I don't support it, but the nature of the business they are in (the summer sales business) makes it extremely difficult to do these things ahead of time. But again, this isn't something exclusive to Platinum. I worked for another summer sales company and they did the same thing, and I've heard of others doing the same things.

The dishonesty of the sales team, and even sometimes the technicians, is something that needs to be considered. Do they knowingly lie for their own gain without the knowledge of the company? Or does the company train them to lie without telling them it's a lie? My opinion is that it's a little of both.

Haha this is all totally true. I worked for Platinum as a technician last summer (which was their first year in business) and I can say that a lot of the stuff in this news report hit home. Yes, the sales team is trained to do very high pressured sales, but that's not something exclusive to Platinum. Yes the sales team will sometimes 'bend' the truth and even outright lie to make a sale, but again, not something exclusive to Platinum.
