why do people bitch about mtv not playing videos when they can just watch them on youtube? or my fav, when people bitch about the music of their generation being sucky when they dont have to listen to it, again they can just come to youtube.
I think it is about the fact that no more music like this will be put out, I like a lot of diff types of music and current music, but I still mourn this type of music, but I started making a playlist earlier (kind of your advice) its like wanting a good time to continue and someone telling you just record a good moment and watch it over again, its not the same - that's where people are coming from (but I know its annoying to see it on every 90s vid)
@countchocula981 If you have to ask that, then you're probably too young to have been there.
Back before the world wide web existed, we actually watched television. MTV was a HUGE part of the American culture in the 90's. It wasn't just about the music or the videos, but also about the VJs, live bands, and most importantly young friends gathered around televisions all across the country just watching music videos. It was about being young, and having no responsibilities.
@WarmothGuitarist lol i am over 30 and was there for the 90s culture and mtv. what i remember is having to put up with a lot of shit songs and commercials to hear a good song once or twice an hour. youtube kicks mtv's ass cause you can make your own playlists and listen to what you want when you want. which is probably why mtv doesnt play videos anymore...... youtube kiled the mtv star :)
@countchocula981 MTV was dead long before YouTube and video hosting sites were even a concept. MTV killed MTV. They made the choice to remove music and enlist shows about Jersey queers, teen sluts, and poser rap artists.
If you're satisfied with just watching videos on YouTube, great for you. But for those of us that actually enjoyed MTV and all of it's goofy quirks, we will forever miss hanging out with friends, watching it, and enjoying the culture of the time.

i used to listen to this song on my portable cd-player (remeber these?) when i was in israel, i bought the CD in tiberias in a record store, at the student exchange in 2000 when i was 15. it reminds me of my wish that i really want peace for everyone. can't we just ged rid of all the politicians everywhere in every country, and party on the beach like human beings are supposed to?
Just picked up this CD yesterday at a used CD shop. I had forgotten how awesome it was and listening to it sent me flying back in time. My god I miss the 90's so much.
I miss hearing great NEW rock tunes on the radio, there are always talented musicians arriving on the scene. Whether of not they get airplay is entirely a separate issue!
No Payola, no Playola, I suspect. A total inversion of the way broadcast radio should operate. Also, if you don't want motivating topical social commentary, you keep playing OLD great songs. Or new BLAND songs. Just NOT new great songs!
Thanks, Clear Channel & Cox & etc for efficiently controlling the airwaves!
Whoo hoo hoo hoo ohh oh ohh! That's just great, it has an awesome feel! I was doing it at school (In a hyperactive mood) and like ONE person got it... I hear a scream "F*** YEAH! IN THE MEANTIME!!!" Now he's one of my favorite people at the school lol.
The only thing more 90's than the song itself is the video's Gen X'ers trying desperately to do everything but dance or acknowledge that they're having a good time.

Just picked up this CD yesterday at a used CD shop. I had forgotten how awesome it was and listening to it sent me flying back in time. My god I miss the 90's so much.

Great song.

@CoolConejo
Thanks for showing that, deep down, you care.
You really care.;*)
(And you're right, it's a non-issue. Because no one cares. By design.)
See what I did there?

Whoo hoo hoo hoo ohh oh ohh! That's just great, it has an awesome feel! I was doing it at school (In a hyperactive mood) and like ONE person got it... I hear a scream "F*** YEAH! IN THE MEANTIME!!!" Now he's one of my favorite people at the school lol.

The only thing more 90's than the song itself is the video's Gen X'ers trying desperately to do everything but dance or acknowledge that they're having a good time.
