When its showing the weapons...middle on the left side, is that a plasma weapon? Curious because all I know of terminators is of the latest Vanilla Space Marine Codex. I've never played any of the Space Hulk games.
no, in the rouge trader book (granted, 1st ed 40k was more like the inquisitor skirmish game then what we have now) genstealers were listed in the "assorted monsters" section, and not connected to tyranids. Do not know for sure if they were cannonized into tyranids when the Space Hulk board game was made though.
1000 is indeed correct. however, before the Horus Heresy, the space marine LEGIONS were allowed to recruit as many warriors from their planet as they please. But after, it was ruled that 1000 be the maximum number to prevent something like the Heresy from ever happening again.
"A Chapter is an self-contained Space Marine army usually made up of a thousand or so Space Marines, as well as a large number of administrative and functionary personnel. "
strange, this space station(or whatever) has the banners of W40.000 space marine chapters, but the earth(0:25 its clearly southamerica with parts of africa and the USA visible) is still green and blue in the background, not the hive-world holy terra.(oceans vaporized, mountains leveled, earth completely covered by miles-high buildings)
because in the Rogue Trader era, they were a separate race. They infect humans, so that they could give birth to hybrids. Its was the "Genestealer cult".
Genestealers were only their own race in first edition (rogue trader). In second edition (the time this game was released) genestealers acted as a kind of a forward attack force, they were part of the tyranid race, and used genestealer cults to soften the defense of worlds the tyranids had their eyes on.
Brilliant, the best intro ever, the ONLY difference is that the PC version has different music, though you have a choice of new PC music to play or original 3D0
I remember the first time I saw the box for this game. Of course, I immediately drew the conclusion that "Space Hulk" refered to the genestealer sneaking up behind the space marine. Shows you what I knew! I was never able to beat this game but someday, if I ever dig up my 3D0, I think I'll give it another go.
That is a really good video, tonnes of accurate info, although I think the narrator saying there are 1000 space marine chapters is a bit innacurate, as few know exactly how mny there are due to the expanse of the imperium, and new chapters seem to pop up with startling regularity lol
actually in the NEW codex they mention in fluff that the space marines are "1000 chapters strong". but then goes on to say that the actual number of space marine chapters is unknown because of new chapters being formed and other chapters being wiped out...
I am 28 years old and when I played this game mid-way through highschool when it came out it gave me some very awesome and inspiring dreams... all from this stunning into and the tense, claustrophobic game play with great game tactics and play... I love those scenes of space and the fascinating "ancient architecture" for state-of-the-art space flight. I love the TERMINATOR ARMOR suits. Very old and still top of the line. GREAT MUSIC! Thanks for the upload!
I don't see why anyone's moaning about you posting the intro to the ORIGINAL version of SHVOTBA, the PC/Saturn/PS1 versions were all ports of this version, during this time EA were fully backing the 3DO and all of their big games were released on 3DO first.
Yes, the 1993 dos game had a different intro but thats a completely different game made two years prior to this. The PC version of THIS game had this intro.
You're correct, although no-one ever bothered to post this version (english) of the intro, and since the only intro being shown was the '93 cinema, I posted the one which I captured off my (clunky but still workin)3DO. I thought fans would be interested in seeing this even though there was a japanese language version already circulating since it's different from the PC title aready being viewed on YouTube.
Dissapointing? are you kidding? I loved this game, its one of the best games EA ever released, they could never do anything like this anymore. I only wish they had the sense to make a squal to this in the Doom3 engine or something.
Bear in mind that this IS essentially a sequel - the original '93 PC version was the Deathwing version, then a few years later Vengeance of the Blood Angels came out - nicer graphics, new campaign and so on - on the PC, Playstation and 3DO.
