  • Drums......Too light. Bass..............Not enough funk.

The vocals and guitar is spot on, but it lacks something. It takes two halves to make a whole after all.

  • I have been so exciting getting back to Mr. Page, and Plant over the years.. Jimmy is one of my favorite bands.. Icon. Zakk Wylde, and so it draws me even closer that I was before .. Thank you for having the unique, wild, hot, eccentric sound, that is outrageous.. love ya.. ty for all the years you have given . me..

  • Page great !!!

  • i think jimmy page was among the frst shredder along with hendrix and clapton, i mean he really plays very fast in here, i m just in awe, alson he plays with emotions unlike guitarist or shredders of today

  • Jimmy A+

  • I love the way he uses the bow to create an awesome noise that is really, really cool.

  • Ist das nun geil oder nicht. Mein bestes Regenkonzert meines Lebens.

Headliner am letzten Tag. Selbst das Festivalarmband ist spitze gewesen beim Biarre festival 98 in Köln,es sieht noch genauso gut aus wie vor 13 jahren.

  • Man this is absolutely killer!!!!!! Being a total Zep fanatic for 35 years now I think this is just as good as their 70s heyday. And as a drummer I can honestly say that Bonzos spirit passed on to Michael Lee here.Killer drumming. The only weakness here is the bass playing......it certainly aint Jonesy but still pretty good!!!!!!!

  • god jimmy is fuck as drunk

  • Sad to see plant so far beyond his prime. I appreciate that they are still producing music but it is sad nonetheless.

  • @muzaklover78

Plant kicks ass here and is rarely out of key...pure emotion. Although his best was with Zeppelin, this is not a bad performance in any way. I wish people would stop judging these guys forever against their past.

. Nobody stays young 4ever. I think they were so great that people can't deal with them ageing and being a little less powerful. RESPECT THEM!!! They are TRUE rock gods!!!!

  • @endorasmask word

  • This song is well beyond kick-ass.

  • :*C

    Oh, Rosie??

    Oh, girl?

  • Page meant fucking BUSINESS on this tour! I saw them in Detroit...Page didn't smile one time, but his playing was unbelievable! Best performance by Page since Zeppelin, hands down!

  • Pô, sacanagem... antes do final da musica você encerra o vídeo?

  • RIP Michael Lee!!!

  • How anyone can say Jimmy is sloppy , only tells me they are dead from the neck up... this man is second to none !!!

  • my dad saw them here in Australia and loved them. and ended up meeting them and the band. :)

  • @TheDbzman13 Good thing they wasted their talents in your shitty country only once.

  • This is tight. When they were bad, they were awful, live aid and the A.R.M.S concert. But when they were on the ball and not getting equipment fuckups and what not, man they were mighty. Granted 2 of the members are missing here, but these other guys are holding their own. Its just really, really tight IMO.

  • psychedelic jazz? never heard it before.....but this performance is AMAZING!

  • Jimmy Page.... the sloppiest guitarist ever,,,, and MY FAVORITE DAMN GUITARIST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!

Priveleged to see Zep in '73, twice in one week '75, and '77... and Page and Plant twice in the 80s ... all Seattle area shows.

This is a great video !

  • @TacomaPaul he isn't the sloppiest you fucking idiot.

  • @TacomaPaul apparently you've not seen me play

  • the scream at the begining was so 60's so young voice

  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Page you are so great...sunny day or dark day y're the greates guitarist all over the world !! nobody can match with you cause y're music and you can share your soul and your mind with us and your guitar : stratospheric !!

  • robert plant is hands down the greatest rock vocalist of all time. period,. end of discussion :)

  • oh rosie! oh girl!

  • Wow, I just caught this show here for the first time. As a long time big Zep fan, I've seen the range or performances, from amazing to horrible. This is one of the best of the reunions. Page is really sharp, and Plant holds his own, although the vocal range and depth ain't what it used to be. Still great stuff!

  • Billy MacQ, I played drum for 15 years and ate, slept and breathed drums for all of those years, so, yes, compared to someone that didn't play, I am an expert

  • anybody that knows drums will clearly see by this that Michael lee simply did not have the finess of Bonahm, he ruins this song

  • @strider4u whatever, expert.

  • wow i was listening to this and forgot i was listening to page post zeppelin. the only thing keeping this from zeppelin status is the overly sanitized bass and the drumming, while fun, doesn't have the same raunchy power as bonham. it makes page's frantic soloing around 4:10 and on sound out of place and alone, and jpj and jb never did that to him.

  • Oh my god. I still cannot believe how awesome this was. You could just see he had that old Led Zeppelin feeling when he was playing. It was mind blowing what he just did on that guitar. That is not just skill. That is your entire soul, feel, energy, and self put into playing a guitar. He may not be one of those cookie cut perfect note playing guys, but his choppy notes you can hear in his playing is part of him and has made his playing legendary. That tone is true to him and damn does it rock!!

  • These two, along with John Paul Jones and John Bonham, inspired me to pursue and love music. WIthout this band, my music chreativity wouldn't not exist. Hands down, Led Zeppelin, along with BB King and the likes, made my life when I was only 7 XD. Instead of playing in a frickin sandbox, I was listening to Led Zeppelin and Blues lol

  • it does'nt get any more bad ass* than that, as they say now, but to be safe i will just say, wow! The bizarre festival on you tube, is my first introduction to the 98 live tour. At least i go way back, in what ive heard from these two.

  • The two tours Page and Plant were brilliant. 94-95 better in my opinion.

  • This reminds me of Jimmy's magical ways he used to play guitar back from 1977 and before. A bit of mystery behind the playing and taunt. What a musician!

  • This is the best performance Jimmy has had since any tour date in 1972.

  • @BurningTurd Yeah, before 1973 (and sometimes during) Page was so fucking good, as is he here.

  • Damn, Jimmy Page is ON during this show. What a concert for those lucky enough to be there.

  • @jjp4mma Page was on during every show of that 98 tour. My friends and i saw them in Detroit! Needless to say, Page played the shit out of that gorgeous Les Paul!!! It is THE concert to which I compare all others.

  • was? die haben sich schonmal vor 2008 wiedervereint ?

  • Guitar playing does not get any better than that. Page, you the man!!!

  • jimmy is god!! he plays like he has sex with guitar:))

  • What just happened to my brain cells????

  • HAHAHAHA wow that made me crack up in the beginning psychadelic jazz.. man great robert

  • I cannot express in words how much I love you Page...

  • Go the VOX!

  • All that heaven and hell shit is a croc, like led zep being heavy metal...anyone who says that, i spit in their face...am thinking of doing a cover of "in my time of dying" at a cancer benefit show in april....oh yeah, thats really satanic..!!!!

  • those folks always made me laugh, look for satan under every carpet.

  • john bonham!!!!!! el mejorrr bateristaa del mundoooooo!!!! por siempree!!!!¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Si ma guarda che questo NON è John Bonham!!!!!!!!!

  • It isn't Bonham!!! Bonham has died !

  • I REALLY just wanna be Jimmy's guitar...

  • I always see Zeppelin as more light than shade. So Jimmy conjures up heaven for me. Leave Satan to Black Sabbath

  • Jimmy could conjure up Satan if felt like it

  • OH ROSIE!

    OH GIRL!

    STEAL AWAY NOW!

    STEAL AWAY!

where the hell is the rest of the jam????????????????

  • They went on to play Spoonful and Whole Lotta Love...

  • Does Plant say "John Bonham...." at 2:43???

  • I think yes, but Im not sure.

  • Bonham...tsc...tsc...Bonham dieeed!

  • Brilliant song! I thought I'd never see a live version of this!

  • grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande grande

  • nobody is better

  • Drummer was good but it sounded as though he was playing of a tab...very rigid...This was one of the reasons why Bonzo was so awesome. Its like he and Jimmy had a telepathic connection.

All in all a gr8 performance!!!!

  • next to Bonzo, Micheal lee (RIP) is the ONLY one who could keep up!

  • From what I've seen from this concert - THIS was THE Page & Plant show to be at. They sound fucking great. They were definitely "on" at this gig.

  • I have the Page Plant Greatwoods Mass. bootleg 1998 and the HMMT is even better than this version IMHO.

  • 0:12 to 8:30, I jizzed myself. That was amazing.

    Page & Plant forever!

  • Jimmy is the show! See "It Could Get Loud!"

  • its "It Might Get Loud"

  • I am glad that Jimmy Page stopped dying his hair! His guitar playing is so much better since he laid of the addiction to CALIROL NUMBER 11 SIMPLY SIMIAN

  • jimmy is a fucken genius

  • robert &jimmy are awesome. you too mike. miss jhb.

  • I'm so glad I saw them this tour. As evidenced by youtube, its possibly their best. They were as good as ever in 98, but more concise than in the 70s.

  • rip it up jimmy

  • jhb is missed very much

  • I love the doors, but zeppelin was better. t Zeppelin showed more variety that's why they are better. Both both bands are real groovy and unique

  • @slipdrum80 Bullshit

  • @slipdrum80 I love the Doors very much too, but they showed their variety through experiment i believe. Led Zeppelin showed their variety by every music they could put into rock. That's why i love Zeppelin More.

  • These are better than thew 02 center reunion -More true to the improv of Zep and a better Drummer than Jason Bonham!

  • jason bonham ranks up there with that one drummer from green day

  • Page has been playing like that for four plus decades now when in the hell are people gonna realize that that is just his style, he never played perfect except maybe when he was in the studio where he perfected everything until he got everything to sounding just the way he wanted. When Page plays live you don't know what the hell is gonna protrude from his fingers. One thing is for sure he never had a problem filling up a room and he always leaves with people screamming for more!

  • wow, 40 years later and jimmy's sound is perfect. i can't get over how strong robert sounds. isn't the bow thing from dazed and confused? shit, "oh rosie, oh girl" is my favorite part, and what comes after. damn it! oh well, guess their doing montages to get everything in.

it's all good, Zeppelin is the fucking best of all time.

  • the bow part is actually in both songs

  • "were gonna play some phsycadelic jazz"

where the hell is the jazz?

  • lol, robert can be sarcastic, i don't think anything's meant by it, he just likes throwing abstract shit out there to mess with people. lol, like you.

  • Good question...

  • i think he said jazz.. but he wanted to say: experimental music.. :))))))))))

  • He said Phsycadelic Jazz because the beginning of the song starts out with a Jazz drum groove where the drummer swings on the ride cymbal. Plus the bassline feels like a walking bassline, also a jazz technique. So I take it the song was Jazz influenced when they wrote it, at least at the beginning. Soon after it morphs into a rock song which is where the phsycadelic comes from.

Zep always wrote songs influenced by other genres. The Crunge was their Disco take and D'yer Mak'er was the reggae.

  • Yeah!! couldn't agree more!!!

  • Plus ol Jimmy throws a little Smokestack Lightning in the mix!

  • @yesdanman just a friendly correction, The Crunge was actually their funk take. influenced by James Brown, thus the use of the strat for a thin funk sound.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 For sure, you're absolutely right... I guess I said disco only because I heard Jimmy page say in an interview that it was their attempt to get in on the dance/disco market (money wise). But yea, it's definitely James Brown funk influence all the way

  • @yesdanman huh. is the video of that interview on youtube?

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 I don't know maybe... I heard it on the radio while driving a couple years back and I thought it was interesting so it always stayed in my head

  • @yesdanman very nice! not to mention JPJ's biggest influence was the great Charles Mingus

  • @yesdanman - At 46 I'm not old enough yet to listen to Jazz~!

  • @yesdanman This riff was taken from Page's days with the Yardbirds. Listen to the bassline on their studio version of Smokestack Lightning. They swing it a little bit more in the Zep bassline but comin straight from the blues covering Howlin' Wolf's Smokestack

  • @yesdanman lmao Crunge wasn't disco, it is funk. Big difference. Disco is meant to be easy to dance to, the crunge is in some f***ed up time signature, 11/8 or some weird shit like that. NOT disco.

  • Still love this song, my fav!!!!!!

  • Pages solo is out of scale. It sounds horrible!

    Even an excelent performance.

    Viva Zeppelin!

  • You want to know how old I am? This song was playing on the radio (WMMR Philadelphia) the first time I had sex!!

  • 5:20 bonham did that all with on stick on the snair and the other on the floor tom

  • One of my favorite Zep tunes, and one of the first I remember hearing! What a wicked jam=)

  • hey please post a video of you playing your great solo you've written, people are just happy to see page and plant do their old stuff, so don't ruin it

  • The riff is the bass line from the yardbirds tune smokestack lightning

  • no it isnt - its similar but thats all

  • it's a howlin' wolf riff i'm pretty sure, alot of people used variations of the old stuff

  • One of the best riffs ever!

  • Page is on Fire !!!

  • R.I.P. = Michael Lee

  • I have this one on DVD. Great show!!

  • Damn cut off!!!

  • Holy crap they sound like (Page and Plant that is) its 1968 again!!!! but only a little tighter and cleaner.

  • jimmy page plays so well

  • I love the Intro with Robert Plant

  • Is any1 aware of a nice web link to d/l this stuff?? =)

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!

    definitely 5 stars

  • Wow, Plant did a pretty fucking good job singing this one! I've never heard Plant sound this good live.

  • Holy hell they sound way too awesome....

    GO JIMMY!!

  • Who are these old guys there awesome!!

  • Ever heard of a little band called "LED ZEPPELIN"

  • lol

  • and his life as he knew it would never be the same again :D lol

  • leave him alone hes never heard them before

  • Dont give me that...no one is buying it

  • ahhhhhhooooo

  • ya baby ya fn A

  • Holy shit. I haven't heard Page sound like this since 72 maybe. Damn! I wish I had a copy of this! hint hint

  • Another thing, Page is awsome here. Ever watched some of his stuff from the eighties zep reunions? he's awful there, but great at other times/

  • It's funny how we pity them for how old they are now. But I don't know, I have no problem getting laid, but I think I'd trade my 20 something body for plant's 60 year old one. With his fame and viagra, I bet he's having more fun then me.

  • You can tell plant wants his voice from 69-72 back...

  • Hey, great-when and where i would love...

  • How come this never made it to DVD? It's obviously professionally filmed.

  • amazing amen!

  • how did he die?!

  • Such a great song from the first album. Its rare to see them play this song live.

  • RIP FOR MICHAEL LEE GREAT DRUMMER

  • i love that riff

  • HOLY SHIT!! This sounded like Royal ALbert Hall 1970!1 UNREAL1

  • jimmy is one of the best guitarist hes the second best in my mind.

  • who's better? Jimi? Mark Knopfler? Stevie Ray Vaughn? This whole debate about who is the best guitarist is nonsense. I can think of a good dozen who would qualify. Roger Fischer of Heart... B.B. King... Mark K... Stevie Ray... Jimi... Steve Winwood... Steve Miller (and, no, I don't include Clapton, whose music I like, but he wasn't the virtuoso that any of these are). BTW, Nancy Wilson of Heart ain't bad either, and she's WAY better looking than any of the others--can sing too.

  • Page , knopfler , Vaughn , Hendrix and Gilmour , THE BESTS.... GIANTS Of ROCK , another players are ants.

  • and Rory Gallagher, and... so on.

Yes, they are great, but why do you have to discredit others, do not even know all of them?

  • Hes the first best in my mind. whos ur first?

  • I think maby jimmy hendrix but i havent seen him do as much as jimmy acually jimmy probably be the best but every time i say that someone has to tell me otherwise and then I get in to a big argument.

  • I CAN'T BELIVE THE MAN IS DEAD!!!!

  • how did he die???

  • r.i.p michel lee

  • Awesome shit!!! great

  • Check my videos of Page&Plant at the Shepherds Bush Empire, London 1998. The whole gig in 10min sections!! Awesome gig...probably the best of that tour!!

This video is also amazing...page def on form!!

  • Oh Jimmy!

  • Only guy who can drag a dry violin bow across the pickups and its AWESOME.

  • Best Bass Line

  • go jimmy.

  • JimmyPage.

    forever.and ever.and ever

    totally amazing.

    He is truly "ROCK GUITAR"

  • Steal away now, steal away.

  • Jimmy gives me goosebumps !!!

  • psychodelic blues indeed!

What a terrific performance of this classic-most Zepplinesque of all songs! Wow! Page in premium form here. Great percussion also. So very good................

  • Like fine wine...just gets better with age!

  • Folks...I just don't get any better than this. Pagey and the bow! Amazing stuff!!

  • PART 2, I NEED PART 2

  • i'm sorry, but there no part II, it really ends with this. the song that follows on the playlist is whole lotta love

  • Doesn't this merge into 'Season of the witch'?

  • Holy shit that was amazing.

  • Page is the best ever!

  • holy fuck. jimmy had his orange juice on this performance. freakin unreal.

  • lol orange juice like on the song remains the same
