  • Can someone tell me the meaning of passenger guy is saying? I'm new to this

  • @AlphaDog147 Pacenotes. It's a way of describing the road ahead. His Co-driver says Left 3 Minus gravel 70 at the beginning, if you translate that, he says Turn left severity 3, (there are 6-7, 1 being the tightest and 6 or 7 being almost straight) then after the turn there will be gravel and a 70 meter or yard straight before the next corner. These are according to Travis, other rally drivers may use different styles of pacenotes.

  • hes sooooo scared lol

  • Just love how they are so calm

  • I dont understand why he's using the clutch even if is car has a Dogbox...

  • BTW, I drive a 2008 STi and was driving on snow tires, it was an ice rink...

  • To everyone dissing this run... It took BALLS to drive that FAST on these roads, I was there, working the finish clocks, three FACTS;

    1. The roads were solid ice (proof in 1st corner)

    2. Studded tires were NOT ALLOWED (unlike WRC)

    3. Travis won this rally, finished with a clean car accident free... Mirra destroyed his car wrecked countless times.

  • @IncredibleSmoke420

half of the idiot nutjobs here never touched a pedal in their entire life.. ignore em.. desktop nerd knowitalls.

  • @arthuro13 lol... this was months actually more than a year ago. All i was saying is the roads were GLARE ICE you couldnt WALK across without slipping.

  • love how he over took the first turn lol

  • bitch go fast

  • @weknowwhatweare on ice???? you ever try driving on freezing conditions like that?

  • Why Rally stewards did not disqualify Travis? He was riding without balaclava!!!

  • What do they mean by saying left three long plus 100? ect? I am interested because someday I want to learn how to rally

  • @fallingangels666 I'm assuming 100 yards, "three" for the angle of the turn, higher the number the tighter the turn.

  • @sookster54 Actually the lower the number the tighter the turn. Compare all the 6's and 5's to the threes. Plus and minus refer to the radius. Plus means increasing radius, ie. a turn that widens as you go through it. Minus means a decreasing radius, or a turn that gets tighter as it goes around.

So a "L3 + LNG" means a long tight left hand turn that tightens as it goes around, then 100 yards before the next notation.

  • @fallingangels666

Left/Right is obviously direction, then there is numbers 1 to 6 (one being a hairpin, 6 being a flat out corner, 3 is 90 degrees pretty much), a plus means you can go a little faster than usual, minus a little slower. 30, 50, 70, 100 etc. are distances in metres to the next corner, if its short they use "into" between calls. Then you got cautions, crests (a hill you can't see over the top of). However, these notes are made by the organisers, not the drivers in USA

  • What's with all the Block WRC talk? This is Pastrana... the difference between Pastrana and most drivers is the size of his balls.

I worked this rally, to say the roads were a skating rink is an understatement, look at what happens in the first turn... "oh shit" and he goes wide into the berm.

Those berms weren't forgiving at all this year either, they were as hard packed with ice as the roads. Think concrete walls in either side of the road.

  • The stage feels exceptionally slow even for ice. It looks and feels like Travis was nervous about the entire stage, which is unusual for someone like him. The entire video just doesn't feel like Pastrana or Subaru. Living in Northern New England I understand snow and ice has it's limits, even in all wheel drive. but it just feels slow for these guys.

  • most intense sport right here!

  • Does anyone have a website or something that can describe the terms that the navigator is saying because right now nothing makes sense what he is saying.

  • @Noobschoolbus14:

    look on wikipedia for 'pacenotes'

  • No studs, just keep those wheels spinning!

  • I love the split screen shots of inside and front view! nice videos keep em comming all season!

  • The things i'll do just to be a rally driver...

  • forget "drive it like you stole it" ...."Drive it like a Rally car"

  • I'm sure Kimi Raikkonen would kick his ass... if Kimi would just stop crashing every single time!

  • @msanchezym Block is beating Raikkonen mostly, and Pastrana beats Block, so I'd be going for Pastrana. I think it would be close. Both have very little recce experience as USA uses Jemba notes. Gravel or Snow would be a Pastrana win, Tarmac I'd be thinking Raikkonen.

  • @supersideways Really? So Raikkönen on rallies is as bad as Montoya on Nascar! I don't know why F1 drivers think they's just be good anywhere else...

  • @msanchezym Montoya is much worse :P but Block is already ahead of Raikkonen yet Block had only tested the Ford Focus WRC once for one day on snow (he isn't doing any snow rallies), whilst Raikkonen has done a lot of testing in the Citroen on most surfaces now, has done more WRC events than Block, has a very WRC experienced co driver in Kaj Lindstrom, and has a much better car in the Citroen C4 WRC. Block might be a little ahead of Pastrana once Ford get the Olsbergs Fiesta sorted

  • @supersideways well Block did beat Travis in the game of SUCK

  • @msanchezym him and Ken Block tied on a Super Special Stage.

  • @msanchezym

at least pastrana can keep the car on the road

  • @msanchezym yhea its true but put pastrana in red bull word rally team now travis kick ass

  • great video thx!

  • does anyone know a website i can go to to study rally navigation terms like minor crest i think is a little jump etc.

  • @TheRallycrossKing play dirt 2 and youll be a pro at rally navigation terms, now if i remember correctly a crest is like a jump but much longer and the car isnt actually supposed to jump

  • i do not know

  • @TheRallycrossKing

A crest (also known as brow) is like a hill where the driver cannot see the road after it (i.e. the crest blocks the vision). This is a very important call to ensure the driver has the confidence to know whether he can take the crest flat out (if its a straight one), if there is a corner on the crest, just after the crest, or a specified distance after the crest.

  • Travis Rocks!

Past Ran a ! > Ran Past All :D LOL

gotta have good quick/shifty vision to race like that.

    That is so cool.

i'm so jealous of Travis. he he

  • This is really cool! Way to go Travis!!!

  • no studs?

  • Wish I would have been there :(

  • Seriously? That was in January, this is March! He's done other events since then!

  • awesome.

now how about an STi sedan?

  • Wow, those slippery conditions looks scary!

The Subaru Symmetrical All Wheel Drive certainly help Travis Pastrana and Dave Mirra when they rally race!

However, even with the world's best AWD system and good tires, low friction conditions like ice and snow are extremely slick and dangerous!

Thanks for uploading, Subaru! Nice to see some pace-note action.

  • WOW What a ride that was! I love rally!!!!

  • subie nation
