Nothing is more demeaning to in the history of sports then what Eagleson did to players that entrusted this man with their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Makes me sick to see them praise him, when he was selling guys like Orr down the river to the Blackhawks instead of informing Bobby the Bruins had made a prior offer of 18% ownership in the Bruins that Eagleson never TOLD Bobby about. Fucking scum bag.
Alan Eagleson proved to be incredible scum. He ripped off and destryoyed and incredible number of great Canadian hockey players of that era.... namely Bobby Orr. He is pure scum, and nothing but, regardless of his seeming accomplishments. Glad to see that he was eventually sent to jail, and forced to give up his membership to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is dirt.
Wow, that Burton guy considered the Stanley Cup a second rate trophy? That's a laugh. Funny how trivial that ol' cup seemed back in '72. One of the greatest things I'd ever heard from an athlete was when Mets pitcher Al Leiter was commenting on the Devil's 2003 win and said [paraphrasing] "Everybody in team sports knows it's the best trophy, who wouldn't love to run around their field holding the Stanley Cup?"
Its funny how the Henderson, Clarke and Ellis line got so much positive feedback before the final 4 games even began. They were the top line, but the funny thing is that Ellis really did not do much of anything thru the entire series..I wonder what would have happened had they used another player like Perreault on that line..
The Eagle had fallen - flat on his face. What a disgrace to Canadian hockey, making fools out of an otherwise rightfully proud public. Sadly, Sharkie, it's the nice guys who fall the hardest.
@nave0327 dude he pleaded GUILTY to stealing from players and organizations for decades. No matter what side of the story you've got that is an unavoidable fact
@Viperplayer187 maybe, but many have stollen, atleast he has the balls to confess, and now wants to be left alone. He is still friends with boby oar and many of the other players he represented.

"Demeaning behavior by some Vancouver fans."

Eagle lived in my neighbourhood for a while. Real nice guy. Made time for us kids when #4 was around.

I was a great time to be alive. I was eight years old in 1972 but I was riveted by the Series.
