NICE TRADITIONAL DANCE!! THANKS for uploading!! Never thought my ancestors got this BRILLIANT DANCE.. their costumes looks like Panji Semerang dance.. especially the middle dancer got connection between them..?
I think this one is a not a traditional dance of Balinese or Javanese. BUT an artistic experimentation - possible a fusion?
I notice the name of Prof I Nyoman Wenten, a profound lecturer @ University of California Los Angeles, and Head of World Music at California Institue of Arts. In the US he does a lot of study and experimentations on Javanese, his root Balinese cultures and others as well...
no pun intended, the conservatives, please hold your critics... and keep an open mind...
Yes, it is fusion of Javano-Balinese. Because the song was in Javanese style, and the crown of the dancer at the center is definitely Javanese, or even Sundanese.
Javanese and Balinese? The male singer sounds very Javanese 9n the beginning and at the end of the piece. In the beginning, the movements of the dance look somewhat like Javanese, then in the middle is Balinese with some different movements from a few different dances that I know of. the head piece (in Java called 'irah-irahan') of the main dancer is very Javanese too. It even looks like the head piece for a character of 'Putri Anggreini' from West Java too.
This choregraphy is splendid ,a jewel and each one is playing fair his part. I dont understand the VinnyCons commentary. Don't tell that the gong is less important than the jegogan. We cannot wait from a child or an old man, white or brown, playing in a choregraphy, to exactly do what we should have done in our own production . Please remind to me the word used in Java when the music, slightly dissonnant, create wonderful présence, high life harmony. The feeling of this dance is excellent.
when i watch this choreography ..... Just one word that i can say .. AWESOME !
