Schools as we know them today were originally built onto the side of cotton-mills and factories, paid for by the owners so that they could employ women and of course guarantee the next generation of employees. Nothing's changed really except the scale of the system. The education system is now so highly politicized that it's no longer a place of learning, it's now a place of agreeing.
In the end, Public schools corrupt our minds. Example is the "credits".. Credits are more based on how obedient you are and how functional and how adaptable you will be to society's expectations. If it's based on knowledge that gave you the credits to graduate, then the "No Children Left Behind" view with kids who are, sorry to make blunt "mentally challenged" could have the same amount of credits, therefore shows same IQ? Simple as that, how adjustable they are to society's wantings.
To bad you didn't enjoy school. If it's actually true (and I don't believe it was but I'll have to take your word for it) that you had no other choice but to "parrot" back what was being tought to you, then you have a right to your suspicians about our education system. But, as an educator with some experience teaching different types of learners I can say that there are many students (including myself) who truly enjoyed school. In fact, I loved it so much I wanted to dedicate my life to it.
U didnt graduate and this means THEY will not see u fit for work or an independant life. Too bad, there's no way out of this unless you bluff that you have a diploma!
False . A self educated man can go just as far in life as one with a glamorous degree from some conformist institution... People have been taught that they wont succeed in life unless they do this or that and rely on the system to vindicate themselves. As long as you have the proper drive and vision to what yo want in life , you can do anything a college grad can do, often times better than a zombified sheep thats been processed through that system
ahaha, I have to admit I HATE SCHOOL!!!! lol I rather learn by myself but then dang..i'm stuck.. sad as heck.. I didn't graduate last year in highschool :( so I have to study again this year... hopefully i will graduate, but dang.. I swear, i hate school.. only reason why i go is because I have to -_-' most of the skills i know of comes from self-teaching
Study to pass the GED. You can get into college with that.
Look up the list of famous college graduates, like the late Peter Jennings, Danica Patrick... People become good at something because they do it every day, and when you're good at something, no one cares where you went to school.
@prayfertrey You can be real good at something but if you dont play the elite game, then they kick you out, good example is Lou dobbs, he was just as good as the other media slaves, but he spoke out about corruption in the government, and the media and the government work hand in hand to keep society in a master/slave paradigm. Most government leaders are there because theyre parents had super rich bank accounts, the kids go to elite private schools and teachers get payed off to pass them.
I learned to compete with my peers to drop what I'm doing at the sound of the bell & shuffle off to my next prison cell to stop thinking & just memorize & repeat what I'm told by authority figures to cheat without getting caught to lie to fight to fear & hate lust & loathe I learned a lot but the snippets of history about the Cabots Cooks & other pablum was a waste of time
As you said, it could be done in a year
Where was Philosophy & comparative religion to counter the gullible superstitious
I hated school from the very beginning; they made me wear a dress, and not pants like my three older brothers! I was so angry with that, and it never left me; first time a boy with a mirror on his shoe came near me I stomped him into the ground! (grin) That went on until I was 13 then I left school; I learned more out of school then I ever did in that box factory! (smile)
check out school sucks podcast.. look it up.. its dead on and well done by an ex teacher.

School felt like a prison to me , I couldnt wait to get home. My wonderful parents let me skip the last 2 years and just take the GED test.
