Yes, there are more cable channels to compete with and yes, there are other activities such as watching movies or playing videogames that replace television time, but when a show like Breaking Bad gets neither the viewers, nor the acclaim it deserves while self-pretentious shows like Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewives or American Idol do, it makes me satisfied ratings for network television has declined.

It is seriously the best show ever, really outstanding. This is the second time i've been recommended a great show by they being vaguely referenced in The Office, the other one being Entourage.

I don't want to start on Mad Men until i've watched all of season 3&4 of Breaking Bad, but what I really wish i had the patience to see is The Wire, but there are just too many episodes.

The only show that can rival The Office in comedy is Arrested Development. Oh, and The Office UK, of course, but it doesn't have Carrell (though, neither does the US version, anymore :( )
