@zimuqian I hate in when people say "She can't sing live" She can't sing. Period. The only reason she's famous is because they fix her voice (autotune, etc) And because of her image. She's young, hot and releases songs with a catchy beat, alright lyrics and autotune that are overplayed on the radio. If people nowadays actually cared about singers having talent, then people like Katy wouldn't be famous.

@spastic017 She can't sing. I'm sorry, but you just have to face that :P Songs aren't always about a catchy beat, there are lots of popular songs that don't even have much of a beat at all. Her songs may not be autotuned, but they definately fix up her voice! Would you buy a CD if all the songs sounded as bad as this one? Of course you wouldn't. And the producers know that.

Uh, of course everyone sounds better on their CDs than live as the CD version has been editted and probably had plenty of those "Take 2", "Take 3" etc. until it sounds perfect. In my opinion though, she sung quite well here.

@alakazamfan123 That's false. There's a numerous amount of artists that sound exactly the same or better live then on CD or record. To name a few; The Beatles, Elvis Presley, John Mayer, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold and Jared Leto. It's just the stupid pop industry sells an image rather then a voice. If Katy wasn't as good looking as she is, with the voice she has there is no way the record companies would ever even consider her.

Yes, admittedly, in the past we didn't have all those fancy technology so those bands/singers you listed naturally sound the same as they did in their CDs and live. Katy Perry may not be in their league, but in here I personally think she sounds nice, though it's a matter of opinion. If you want someone that can sing very well live and is also part of mainstream music, go search Lady Gaga live, you'll be impressed.
