@Boodieman72 I have a roomba and it obviously isn't efficient and it doesn't deep clean. Try the Neato xv-ll it uses a constant updating laser mapping system, it has a lot more suction and its just better
heavy duty vacuum.powerful suction.had ours for year's now, well worth the money!.belts hold up great, only went through one, once in a great while I have to take the transmission out,*lol* and adjust it,when I feel like it is taking more effort to push, which is a little bit of a pain.roller held up well, but can use a new one.all attachments are pretty good,Really built well, top quality.cast aluminum body, plastic parts on this unit are not of cheap quality.don't waste the money on the shampooer .
The only thing I don't like about the Kirby is that it is VERY heavy!! Otherwise, It's one of the best cleaner's you can buy. I paid $600 for a brand new one with all of the attachments, including the shampoo attachment. I figured I would have it for life or until I couldn't lift it anymore.
I'd never, ever let a Kirby salesman anywhere near my house or my family! I bought it for £275 on eBay.
I sold all my Kirbys, whereas I still have all my Dysons and Mieles. The Kirby was too big, too heavy, and the consumables are too expensive. Great cleaner, but not for me!
Yes, they are great at deep cleaning. If you have a newer model, like the G4 and up, you can get a stiffer brush roll for pet hair or better cleaning. A Sanitaire will do about the same thing, but the Kirby has better bags, attachments, ect.
I wanted to try it out. After a few months I was bored with it. Excellent cleaner, but too heavy and bulky. I don't collect modern cleaners as a rule, and I don't collect Kirbys, so it had to go!
The money from the sale is going to get me to the VCCC convention this year.
I do, but it's in the attic, and I never use it. I've also got 2 big boxes of attachments and accessories for it. The only time I've used the Tradition extensively is with the Handi Butler and a buffing wheel to polish all my vintage Hoovers!
I may sell the Tradition, if I can find the time to get it cleaned up and restored, etc.
Ahh, I see... I just bought one off of ebay with all the attachments with all the boxes and the big storage box all in mint condition...the Rug Renovator is unused in the box even! It just shipped out today :P !
same one we have...these last forever!

@pillowbugg How did you buy it?

@pillowbugg I'd be interested to know what brand you bought. I paid almost twice as much! I'm not a happy camper.

Yup, but I don't own this cleaner any more - I sold it over a year ago.

@vintagehoover What is your opinion of it? How did you buy it? Have you ever had any experience with Kirby salesman?
How would YOU say it compares to a Dyson or Miele?

An (optional) 12 ft hose and a zip-brush is easier on your back to clean stairs. It would only cost about $60.00 and last forever. Kirby is the best.

I'm getting the 12 foot hose, it was horrible trying to shampoo the stairs!

can show kirby in shampoo mode
Andrewjarmans 3 years ago
I'm afraid not, I've just sold this machine, so I don't have access to it any more.
I wouldn't use the Kirby for shampooing anyway; I just hire a Rug Doctor if the carpets need washing.

it handheld or canister mode
