@jemiedub The vocals used for the scratch at 2:14 'Rappers ever landing non believers ask why' must be off another record by Spyder D or by another artist for it to be on record to scratch up in the 1st place... Do you know what song it is from please?/
fuck this is fucking sick... love the mc and the scratches in the song, fits me more as a hip hop head but i really like the nu shooz og version a lot
80's was the 50's in the sense of music great styles/musicians......no more will we see great music like that again..of course if u have a computer u can manitpulate all u want...
Ok. To set the record straight. The tracks were painstakingly reproduced by Eric Matthews. He captured every note of Nu Shooz original version, and, with their permission, had me come and put a rap over it. There are no samples on this track, but DJ Doc is scratching records into the mix.
Ladies and Gentlemen - This is NuShooz - or for an FYI - No one sampled back in the DAY it didn't Exist - People could play instruments by Ear - I know this sounds strange to the new generation of those who take the easy way out and fail to learn their craft and master music.
They interpolated song passages by scratching and mixing records to the programmed drum beats. Sampling didn't really take firm hold until about 1986 or '87.
This is not TRUE - 1986 and 1987 brought Drum Machines to the forefront is correct however no technology exist that allowed sampling in any format. Samplings as we know it began in the early 90's - The 80's happen to have artist whom actual could play instruments by ear. UNLIKE today where the average artist can't even read music
dr boot,I am a hip hop producer and I know the history of the technology! In the early 80's the Emulator was used to sample little 1 to 2 second bits to be manipulated. Most of the golden age hip hop records from 1987 forward were created using the EMU SP 12 sampling drum machine and a year later in '88,EMU came out with the SP 1200 (complete with 3.5" floppy drive.) Also in '88 Akai and Roger Linn came out with the MPC 60. All of these units had sampling capabilities.I know the art's history!!
I've been making hip hop beats since 1985 and I programmed my first sample based beats in 1988 on an SP 1200 so you're not talking to a little young'un who was not there. I'll be 38 yrs old this year and I've used nearly every drum machine/sampler created at least once.
You are WRONG, Dr. Boot. 1986 was the year samplers came into huge play in hip hop. Only an outsider would be oblivious to this. The SP-12 was introduced into hip hop (via Ultramagnetic, BDP, Marley Marl, etc) and even those who weren't using digital samplers were still manually dropping samples onto tracks via turntables. (i.e. Run-DMC's "Peter Piper".. and no, they didn't play those bells in the song) Dig a little deeper in your research next time.
I used to scratch and mix this jam on turntables 1 and 2 back in the day. Hearing this jam makes me want to pull out my homemade mix tapes and bump them in my boomin' system.
I like how mann and 50 cent stole this loop

spakey1983 2 years ago
what are you talking about??
so i suppose RUN-DMC, ERIC B, T-LA ROCK, JECKYAL/HYDE, FAT BOYS, KRS-1, STETS were all weak??
them and so many others rocked the 80s.
were you there in the clubs when this was going on with chuck chillout/ red alert spinning??
run666 2 years ago
No you got the wrong end of the stick just 80's music in general.
spakey1983 2 years ago
no doubt, the 8os misic was the best..
i went to the hip hop spots, freestyle spots, and the rock spots all in manhatten from 1982-1990
it was a great time in all music..

Very different in the uk people only heard what they listened to on the radio or top of the pops (tv program)

yeah i understand.....
i grew up in new york and was lucky to be able to go to the hip hop spots...
