  • I just saw Wanda in concert last night! There is a reason that the 2nd verse of the song is 'wrong'. Its that way on purpose. Wanda told the story that when they recorded the album, she didnt want to do this song. She thought it was too sexually explicit (she is a 75 years old southern christian woman, after all) But Jack White really wanted her to do it, so he sat down and changed the lyrics so that she would be more comfortable singing it. She was AMAZING live last night.

  • she was hot back in the day. still the same lovely soul.

  • Por que le cambia la letra?

"Thinking of you in the final throws" decilo no vas a ser menos "lady" por decirlo.

  • respect to Wanda. she is 73 years old here

  • Put this poor thing out of her misery.

  • Well Done Wanda Jackson for ruining this song and making me feel sick.

  • RESPECT!!

SHE IS THE QUEEN OF ROCK!!

    Wanda FUCKING Jackson!!!!

  • Sounds just like Amy did in Serbia, except that Wanda knows the words.

  • @iVenge mmmm wanda forgot them at vh1 divas this week! lol

  • @iVenge Actually, Wanda does not know the words.

  • to the people who slag this GREAT LADY off. lets see how you sound when you are her age. she sounds great. give her repect people

  • WOnder how Amy would have sounded at 73?

  • @rogerthegoodwin dig her up and find out

  • Wanda Jackson, wonderful as usual. Simply the best.

  • RESPECT! this is Wanda Jackson! Still ROckin!

  • A really cool version.

  • Ohh good lord people she's 73!!! Of course shes not going to like she did 50 years ago! Who cares what she sounds like though... SHE is WANDA FUCKIN JACKSON... the QUEEN of Rock...

  • @recentral48 to fucking right. she great. i only hope these people that slag wanda off. look & act has great has her when there 73.

  • Whoever thinks this woman can sing is tone deaf. She's flat on at least a third of the notes----unlike Amy Winehouse, who was ALWAYS on key, even when she was completely Fkd-up. A legend? I don't think so. Plus I find her voice irritating.

  • @deserthawk1 A 57 year career would suggest otherwise.

  • @deserthawk1 STFU

     RESPECT

  • @deserthawk1 She is Wanda FUCKIN Jackson The Queen Of Rock

    google her

  • god i love her so much. its unreal.

  • oh good Amy is so much better!

  • @BONDAGEMENS if she could actually sing until the end of the song... maybe she would sound half as good as this.

  • wanda mofoking jackson son

  • eeeeeeeeew! my eyes! mentally scarred for life. at first it sounds like, "i sh*@ted myself" >.<

  • the point of a cover is not to make the same exact song that you're covering. What's the point then? Why not just go listen to the original song? Don't be retards, Wanda Jackson is the Queen of Rock.

  • hey it's easy guys, if u don't like wandas voice sod off and listen 2 ur shit. we don't look up other singers on the tube and slag em off so y du u hmm u nitwits. have a nice day. mwa.

  • Its also wonderful to see a woman singing this who you know could have had a real history. Where''s the charm of another 20-something joining in the Fall-Down-Itch Parade? Amy Winehouse can't seem to chose between her self-absorption and her gift for singing, and it's too bad. I love AW's voice, but I can't stand the tedium of her self-absorption. It's pornographic, what she does to herself, and sad. So much talent and she can't take her gifts seriously.

  • She still hits most of the notes, pretty good for her age, but I hate her voice. It is veeerrrry annoying to me.

  • Some people need to wake the fuck up and realise Wanda Jackson is ten times the legend Amy Winehouse could wish to be.

    And I love Amy.

  • Fuck me! The 6/8 time signature change at the end of this song is to die for! I've looked for this clip for so long, that ending honestly gives me goose-bumps!

  • Sorry, Amy, for all her faults, sings better than Wanda.

  • Err, gentlemen, I appreciate this lady is a legend and probably has more talent than me and probably Amy Winehouse and loads of fucknuts who count as 'artists' these days, but bits of that still sound like a frog with throat-cancer. That's inescapable. Entertaining though.

  • @MasterofSpiders

that's just the way her voice sounds, and it sounds good to me.......if everyone had the same voice and the same way of singing, music would suck.......

  • What the hell is wrong with you retards? Queen Wanda is the fucking SHIT no matter her age, god, she is AMAZING. Always was and ALWAYS will be. Lay off the haterade, dickholes. I wonder if you tell your grandmothers that theyre frail little trolls who serve at nothing except being old and weak people. Except i have a feeling most of them cant do a damn thing but sit in their rocking chairs and knit or they'll break a hip. Wanda carries this shit HARD.

  • This was brilliant, she sang it so well

    Great night

  • Saw her last night. It was amazing.

  • she is immense! love ya wanda! : )

  • omg this is bad :S

  • @DeanNoiman So have you always been ignorant of rock history, or is it a new pose of yours? Amy Winehouse would not have a career if Wanda Jackson had not come first.

  • @ERubyV9 I don't think Wanda J BAD ! I think her cover "YOU KNOW THAT I'M NO GOOD" bad and still think like this..

  • :D x

  • If you think it's amazing now, wait till you hear it on vinyl.

  • Una Forza Della Natura!

    Elio

  • Not bad for an old broad. God love her, you keep rockin' Wanda!

  • @dreamwhileyousleep - she makes old broad cool and sexy... give me rockin' wanda over lady friggin ga ga any time!

  • She may be a legend, but she did not do this song justice.

  • My God, even Jools Holland is enamored by Wandy Jackson's talent. What a growl she has! YEW KNOH that I'm no good! And Cee-Lo Green is the audience, too!

  • good rockin grandma !

  • i can't believe some idiots here are dissing wanda fucking jackson

  • @spinecraft - they are insane - you don't diss wanda effing jackson. you just don't.

  • @spinecraft she either did it well or not. If people feel it was bad, then it just may be bad! I think it's horrible. It sounds like a parody to me.

  • I'd like to hear her cover 'I kissed a girl and I liked it' lol.

  • Shelbinator i was aware of that as Jools introduced her as 'the originator of Rockabilly' which i happen to be a fan of. But i think people that have been in the entertainment industry all their life, sometimes get trapped in it, maybe realising that their talent is dwindling, but still gettin folk willing to pay them for a gig. I think she had a few too many burbans maybe, so wasnt aware how she sounded, as the look on jools face says 1000 words!

  • This is fucking terrifying...

  • i think this is hillarious old granny singing!! LOL -_-

  • Wanda Jackson is a *legend*, Amy W could learn a lot from her!

  • @SeanReynolds2008 She didn't get the lyrics right, she couldn't get the pace right, and she couldn't stay in key. What's legendary about this performance or performer?

  • @XforeverlongingX She's been around for years and is one of the leading influences on women who've become rock singers, she blazed a trail for women in the 1950's singing rock and roll before many other women entered this 'men's music'. Her own interpretation of Winehouse's song was just that, her *own*. It's fine if you opinion differs but you'll see on this thread that I'm not alone. I loved Amy's singing too btw b4 her stupid addictions killed her too damned young.

  • @SeanReynolds2008 It is her own interpretation. I don't think it was a good one because she was off key, out of pace, and didn't know the lyrics. I have read some of the other comments, and they seem to be loyalists. Her "stupid addictions" aren't what we're addressing

  • @XforeverlongingX Have you even HEARD Wanda Jackson's music? Rock isn't always about sounding clean and perfect. If you haven't heard her stuff from the 50s you can't possibly understand this. Listen to "Fujiyama Mama" and get an education ya pedant.

  • @zebraattack We are here discussing a cover of a song, and that song is absolutely not rock. I do not require any background (the depth of which you do know) to justify my dislike of this performance. The off key off pitch sound and mistaken lyrics here are by no means intentional to try and throw a "rock" "unclean, imperfect" edge to it. The shortcomings were not intentional

  • @XforeverlongingX The woman is over 70 years old...what the hell do you want from her? When Johnny Cash covered "Hurt" did it sound exactly like NIN? No. Was it originally a country song? No. Did he sound as good as he did when he was young? Hell no. But that song is still good as shit. We get it. You don't think it's good. So why don't you fuck off and complain about something else on youtube.

  • @zebraattack Someone's angry :)

  • @XforeverlongingX Pfft. I was born an angry, raging bitch baby. You don't fuck with Wanda. She's up there with Joan Jett and Quatro for me.

  • @zebraattack Hell yes- SANG it!

  • @zebraattack Jeer all you'd like.

  • @SeanReynolds2008 By loyalists, they'll always stick by jackson even if the performance was disastrous

  • @SeanReynolds2008 "he's been around for years and is one of the leading influences on women who've become rock singers, " And inspite of that she delivered a horrible performance which was off key off pace and she sang the lyrics incorrectly. She may do GREAT in rock, but this performance is nothing short of embarrassing

  • Oh look its Winehouse granny LOL, think she turned left instead of right and ended up on Jools instead of Britains got talent LOL

  • @shrek24700 she's actually really famous and she's a big influence in rock and roll ; )
