  • Purchased new 09 TiguanW/4 Motion. Enjoyed it for 2 years and 54 Kmi, SoCal Fwys. Great ride, Stereo, Milage, etc. Humbled lots of Autos, US, Japanese, German, Korean Etc. Traded for Twin Turbo, Garrett, F 1fity. VDub dealers had their heads in the air when I inquired about the Diesel, Tourag. Something about parts and the Sunami in Japan. See Ya!

  • tiguan=poor mans toureg

  • dude, turn AWD on

  • А где Freelander?

  • tiguan i love you

  • don´t use clutch...

  • @ricardoinacio its DSG, the stupid auto was clutch dumping cause it couldnt take off properly.

  • the freelander would certainly beat tiguan

  • yeah jeep... I know there isn't one in there but there should be lol

  • @TazFC3s comparing jeep to these two cars is like comparing a turkey sandwich without mayo(the jeep) to a sandwich with all the good stuff (about every other european SUV)

  • @robbie1490 lol i bet my ZJ would take any of the european suv's on any trail. and sure my jeep doesnt have any "Mayo" but its got miracle whip.... love it or hate it.... it will still whip any suv's ass....

  • @TazFC3s Lol i do like that little part at the end right there. I'm not much into SUV's anyways, i like european sports cars. But I like the style and performance of european SUVs/SAVs anyway

  • Where is the Landrover? Didn't see a comparison. And to be perfectly honest, the landrover will win in this terrain by far. The Tiguan is a good car and VW makes really good cars. But on this terrain you will find no better car then Land/Range rovers....

  • @Ardjuno jeep.... just sayin

  • @TazFC3s jeep...?

  • No 4 motion??

  • Vw = Boring simple cars. Polo looks like golf new passat looks worse than old one.

    Japanese cars are better.

  • how can this be a tiguan Vs freelander when we only see the tiguan

  • @entertainmentstation You must keep you informed dude! German cars are the best... Porsche, Mercedes, VW, Audi, Maybach. Tell me when english beat germans?

  • Ww1 and 2 for starters.

Land rover defender >q7/cayenne/gl/q5/ml/tiguan/ml/g class/touereg/x5/x3/x1/ and any other shitty wanabe off roaders the germans offer.

Aerial atom V8> veyron costs 1/10 of the price , same 0-60 and 0-100 times weighs 1.5 tonnes less , has a v8 not some overcomplecated w16 quad turbo.

You also cant say the range rover, phantom and mini are crap because they were designed by bmw :P

  • @stevakat The Ford F150 is, of course, the American example of an over-engineered German car. For their part Rovers are the English example. The difference is that in America both English and German cars occasionally explode.

  • you suck.

  • there is no need to show the "vs" part. Tiguan wins.

  • where is that "vs" part?

  • DIESEL RULES

  • @Seadgaranovic Why not a fan ? :D

  • @Seadgaranovic Why not a fan ? :D

  • the diesel sounds like drilling machine

  • @Seadgaranovic DIESEL POWAH dude :D

  • als der landrover den berg geshen hat ist er weggefahren.....:-)

  • ok so where was the land rover in this video? bad title

  • somebody need to learn how to drive offroad

  • vw sucks! vw, who comes not even a small slope up properly!

  • @entertainmentstation

thats why you dont see the Landy. bloody germans.

  • where freelander?

  • @edubombero in the next vid jeje

  • Small SUV for REAL OFF ROADING = Suzuki Grand Vitara!!

No electronic AWD, just a real low range gearbox, with a real 4x4 Body on Frame Chasis.

Freelander is great, but too expensive, plus the possible reliability problems it may have. Tiguan is also great car, but it is based on Golf platform, no real 4x4 soul in it, but it is still a functional SUV for most basic off roading and daily use.

  • land rover pwns vw on outroad

  • Bullshit driver

  • dnt knoe how to drive.!

  • Vw has the BEST cars in the world and fuck the rest. $ for $ they are market leaders in front wheel drive motors full stop thats it. So spend that extra buck and your crazy! Honda well i mow the lawn with 1...

  • n0

Interesting then on the latest survey that Honda was again 1st with its CRV

The suzuki second and Toyotas RAV third.

There is no question that the Japanese design and build some of the best vehicles on the road.

    VW are just rebadged skodas

  • Well i respect your opinion but. I read in a swedish car magazine that an owner of a Toyota Rav 4 got stuck on a small (NOTE) small hill coverd in grass. He drove down this small hill (again small) just to find out what whould happen when he wanted to go up again.

What happend was that when he tried to accelerate the engine just cut power, tried to transfer it to some other wheels, but with no luck.

I know this sounds made up but... We all don't know how big (i think it's very small) hill.

  • Znitso

Quite possible in a RAV with road tyres on.

I think they were guaging reliability and Toyota do make good cars.

I am suprised that VW doesn't do better on reliability. The 4 wd system they use is very good and the build quality also is very good.

  • Yeah i got an (old) Toyota Corolla myself and it keeps on going (which is great)

But in that magazine i was talking about, i was amazed. Sounded very "weak". And yeah i do like Toyotas.

And yes, i do agree with you. I can't understand either why they aren't better then they are with their 4 motion system. Because that's what it's got in this video i presume?

  • Maybe it sounded made up, but that's something that the owner of the Rav 4 sended in to the magazine.

  • @n057828 it's a 4wd not a 2wd

  • @isopodtime it is awd

  • Great video but WHERE IT THE FREELANDER????????

  • behind the VW in the last vew seconds

  • 哇......

    這台車太厲害了!!!

  • that guy cant drive for shit. he should have had a low gear with a constant power feed ffs. he royally ballsed that up.

  • ok , i can't say that the land rover is better , but , compare , the tiguan have 200 hp and the freelander 233. the price , the tiguan sport and style cost $ 30.000 and the freelander like $38.000 . the consume , the tiguan is 2 liters , and the freelander 3.2 . so , the diference is no much , but in 4x4 the freelander win by a little , but i still prefer the tiguan by all the things.

  • Jesus man...stop fighting...get over it...who the hell are you defending anyway? Like BMW or RANGE ROVER, or HONDA would care and give you a car for free??

  • if it would have been awd or fwd, no problem

  • Testing the Tiguan in its non off road form against the Freelander regardless of the results (which wasn't shown) now if they'd have shown the Tiguan in the Escape model with its off road helping features it would of been more useful.

  • Volkswagen rules

  • Yes 'Rules The School Run' LOL

  • The VW should stick to the school run and mounting the curb outside the supermarket, having seen them ofroad in mud, stuck, and over rough ground even with track and field they are nowhere near as good as a LR or RR, the only thing going for them is the low use of fuel, but LR are getting there on that.

  • Can you compare VW reliability to LR reliability? absolutely not, actually the LR/RR are the least reliable of the car brands and this is a fact, look at car reviews and they have stories for land rover on how bad they are made, not to mention the freelander has a class action law suit against them. Id take the VW

  • Thats because FORD bought out landrover when the freelander was made. Land rover went down the hill because of them.

  • Thats why i cant see owning one or comparing a VW to a land rover...they are not only expensive to buy, but also extremely expensive to maintain also.

  • exactly VW makes a lot of cars that people don't know so their quality and technology is really high.

  • And, VW has Audi and Porsche in their corner, not bad companies to have on your side...and i believe VW bought Bently. They are highly advanced in all products, especially the new CC theat they came out with. When i had the Tiguan as a loaner for the weekend my friend who just bought an X3 wanted to kick himself for not looking at it.

  • Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Lamborghini, Bentley,Porsche, and Bugatti is what VW owns. I really want a tiguan or touareg,I wonder if the tiguan would be fine towing a couple of quads. I have a 03 GTI turbo right now.

  • Towing id say go with the Touareg because it comes with a pretty decent sized V6 and multiple engines like the V8 and TDI V10. Under heavy loads the V6 sized Touareg should be good enough my uncle has an 05' V6 Touareg and he hauls his boat with ease.

  • Yeah I was looking into a used v8 touareg, not just for towing but they are really fast from what I have heard.

  • the 8 moves...plenty of power on and off-road too, if you wait they are coming out with the Audi Q5 which is basically a luxury version of the Tiguan in Audi form. Looks really nice

  • Porsche so good they only offer 2 year warranty? audi Q7 look at the write ups on those? Caution avoid mud should be the sticker on all Q7's?

  • Land Rover is MADE for snow, mud, sand, gravel ect.. in a Porsche they are focusing on refinement and luxury features, there is a difference with the 2 companies. 1 has years of off-road experience and 2 Porsche has made trucks since when? 2004? lets be realistic, and that goes for the Q7 also, it has only been on the market since 2007...these are SUV's made with ON-ROAD everyday use, not off-road country sight seeing.

  • Rubbish they have spent years telling people through marketing if only everything was reliable as a VW, do you run a fleet of them? we have run 6 Golfs all of which have had problems involving time in the workshop,30k miles is not much for a water pump unit to go, plastic bolted to metal wonder what that's going to do? Yeah leak!

Range Rover's in general are fine, mine has been, Freelander 1 was junk we all know that and design was a compromise from day one!

  • 70k+ miles in an LR product and regular services with one minor problem sorted in less than half a day, 6 VW vehicles in our fleet all have had serious garage time before 40k miles, Freelander 1 was junk we all know that, Land Rover will move ahead with new products and source parts beyond bean counters at Ford, this will improve performance and reliability not to mention inovation, VW's TDI engines are old and their technology is behind many major manufacturers now, VW getting left behind

  • VW TDI v-10 is the worlds most powerful engine. LR has shitty mpg and isn't bothering with diesel which is what the future is. If LR is so good then why did BMW awhile back? Even ford dumped them because they weren't making money.

  • Ford are broke they had to sell LR. LR was making money, 2007/8 best year they ever had, that is an easy fact for you to check? Diesel is not the future, its the present, HYDROGEN is the future, it will be here soon, LR now they are not handcuffed by laggard companies like BMW stealing technology and Ford living in the 1900's free to do deals with any companies providing parts, shame Honda didn't beat BMW to ownership years back that would have eclipsed the Germans, but that's EU politics eh?

  • Diesel is way closer than HYDROGEN...... Diesel there's no need to make new gas stations and diesel cars get 50mpg. VW is one of the biggest car makers in the world. Also how is BMW stealing technology? Last time I checked Land Rover started off as European.

  • BMW got their 4x4s out in record research time, clearly you are not up on this subject? Hydrogen is the way forwards the gas station conversions simple few working parts in the engines, so reliable. Also not VW do not even make the top ten reliable car manufactuer in the UK, Porsche listed as 1st of the worst in reliability index! VW golf comes in at 36th, Honda technology comes in the top 10 so I will dump the VW diesel any day and go with Honda's engineering, Tata need to do a deal with them!

  • In all reality do you ever think oil companies will that happen. You clearly don't understand that. All the oil companies have to do is drop prices and we will keep buying. Look at what just happened. Honda and toyota make the most reliable cars but also I don't see LR on there. Personally if I wanted a hardcore off road vehicle I would to jeep. LR are over priced.

  • Idont understand? One of my biggest clients is BP and various oil related business here in the UK, feel free to take your foot out of your mouth? Most oil companies worth their salt are thinking beyond oil, what better than to sell a product the tree huggers cannot moan about? Jeeps are junk, freelander aside the LR range is still the best offroad vehicle and if they can join with someone like Honda's technology via Tata then the Germans will have to stick to eating Sauerkraut on the dole!

  • Junk? Jeeps can take so much shit. I'm not one for American cars but jeeps don't stop running. The Germans make the best looking best driving cars. I always watch top gear they are basically the authority on cars. You living in the UK should know that. They choose german always.

  • top gear HQ just down the road from me a Dunsfold, a few minutes drive. Top Gears chosen car this year was a Westfield 7 and their favourite car was the Range Rover, Clarkeson drives one amongst his other cars. The basic Jeep I woiuld give some time, but the Cheroke ect are nasty, cheap and worthless in no time at all, its all about choice and budget, I'm lucky I have a supercharge 4.2

  • So you have a range. How quick are those? I can never get anyone to race me out here so I have no clue how quick they are. My friend has a LR 2 it's really slow.

  • to 60mph is around 7 seconds, probably just under, top speed they say is around 130mph, only managed to do 120 better not mention on here due to law enforcement snoopers! The mid range power is superb for things like 50 to 70over taking, although using all of the power leads to the well used comment if you have to ask how much they cost to run you cannot afford to run one! The new 5 litre version should be out around May 09 looking forward to that should do 60mph around 6 seconds and economy

  • Hmm the Q7 4.2 does 0-60 in 7 too and it's not supercharged not to mention it's bigger. The w12 engine does 0-60 in 5.5. All the bad talk you were saying about the Q7 I'd thought it was slower. It's actually more efficent. Funny. Better clearance too and better price tag.

  • Subaru Forester Turb 2.5L (half the size engine of a Q7) 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds and is much quicker from a standing start at traffic lights. Also the Q7 is the most ugliest car on the road today.

  • You can't even make that arguement based on the weight difference. Correct me if I'm mistaken but the forester is on a car chassis not a truck chassis so it's not even the same class. I'm going to say probably less than 2500lbs towing capacity. Not bashing subaru because they have impressive vehicles but the Q7 is the best looking suv next to it's counterpart the porsche cayenne. How much does that subaru cost cause I kind of like it haha.

  • you are one of the most idiotic person on the planet sheesh

  • serious polite debate, based on facts and what happens, the usual youtube kool aid, mountain dew drinker with no brain jumps in with the abuse, no sunshine you are an idiot you only need to look at your homepage to see that! Why not get fit for 2012 perhaps your country might win some medals, whinging Ozzies! I drive a supercharged Range Rover you are not even old enough to drive so who is the idiot commenting on cars? You! Anyhow shouln't you be looking at Toyotas it's all you can afford in Oz?

  • i drive a bentley

  • age 16 on your profile and full of computer games and geek stuff, yeah you drive a bentley on Xbox perhaps?

  • LMAO

  • Honda had a good deal with rover had this been exploited fully the British car industry/future models would have been well ahead, instead EU politics came into play BMW got to select what they needed, then dumped it politicians were stupid as ever, Rover unloaded onto Ford who run their production by bean counters, hence Tata now have a golden opportunity to link up LR engineering with forward thinking technolgy outside of EU and US laggards, who will be lucky to survive this depression!

  • In Australia we also have the track and field version that a has a better approach and departure angle along with a off road button that alters the throttle response.

  • get some tires on it, then test them

  • Land Rover Freelander 2 the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

  • doesn't matter because its' the only version the U.S./canada will be getting so better off with that as a test vehicle anyway.

  • Oh really, I didn't know that.

In Germany you can get a version called "Track & Field". It has a different front and you can activate the "offroad" mode by pressing a button. In this video you can hear the bumps when the front-spolier hits the ground. That wouldn't have happened with the Track & Field.

  • ya i'd love a track and field right now the only thing i'm waiting for is the TDI engine, hopefully by next year they will be available.

  • The TDi is a good choice!

I've spend my holidays in the Alps and it was really fun to ride the tiguan.

It needs about 7.9 l/100 km (mixed mode: city, highway) that must be about 30 mpg.

  • what do you get on the highway for litres per 100 km?

  • on the highway itnedds abot 6.7l per 100km, if you ride 120 km/h.

  • Why do they use the "street" version of the Tiguan for that???
