I'm not going to lie there Jeff, your ol' find there gave me a bit of a Chubb. You see Jeff, there's a fella down the road who owns one of those rare 4x4 deuce n a half ton's like yours. Only this one apprently came out of the army when he found it, then he had it restored to a beautiful royle blue...The blue is sharp, it looks good. But you don't go pissin all over something that has lived a life in the army by gettin it restored, am I wrong?? It don't matter, the truck ain't moved in 15yrs.
well this has just inspired me to go pickup an old dodge 1 ton sitting out in the woods with a 440 in it. needs some tlc but time and a bit of coin will bring it around
JEFF BRAVO BRAVO BETTER THAN THE CRAP ON TV ! Old blue she o wait HEs a gem. Killer find. Cant wait to see him on the road. Love to see a part of our history saved. Its trucks like that that bult this country. Love the vids keep up the great work
nicest old truck ever 4x4 1.5 ton that clean befor restoration wow the truck will work alot of money after its all restored and id like to get a 76 chevy truck like the white one at the begining its still nice missing some part but no rust and nice bumper here in ontario all old cars and truck get rusted out not restorable
This is my favorite truck model that GM ever made I prefer a stick but other than that it's awesome! Great truck and I was wondering how much you paid for it? I'm down here in Florida and all the ones around here rusted away years ago due to the salt air. But can't wait for the resto
To get the tyre back on the rim use wd40 or lighter fluid spray it into the tyre though the gap stand back or make sure you are not too close let the vapurs flow a moment then light it. it should pop back on. unless you use too much fluid it wont catch fire.
What kind of brakes you got on your trailer? I'd be worried going down those roads (I grew up in Oregon, and some of those roads look like logging roads) with that big heavy truck and no trailer brakes. I had a trailer with electric brakes, totally soured me on surge brakes.
what year is yur GMC that yur haulin yur 1956 GMC with? I have a 1972 GMC 2wd and I just wish mine was 4x4 like yurs and im currently restoring mine right now!!
@ElderlyIron This video was fun to watch for me...i love those type of adventures... That blue truck doing the pulling looks like a brut...pure muscle!
when installing headers throw the gaskets away!!!!! money scam use high temp permatex on header flange and collectors make sure all surfaces are clean and dry small bead bolt tight and go.
im not use to seeing old trucks without rust, where i live in northern illinois, anything built before about 1978 is covered in rust, seeing that 56 with its crome still shiny is unbeleivable
sweet find!! love the vids..... but i thought this was redneck resto??? up here in canada, us rednecks re seat our beads with starting fluid... lol, i think i recall you saying you had some..... keep up the great vids!
I really am liking your new truck. How come you guys are able to keep them so rust free? If it were here or in Massachusetts where I grew up, the fenders would be flapping, the rocker panels falling off, the eyebrows over the headlights non-existent and the floors totally missing...
great vid. Very nice truck, cant wait for update vids, hope you dont neglect old whitey for your new mistress. Nice shots on the video too , I think your ready for Hollywood. Their just not ready for you LOL. Ill be watching.
Great find! You really have to give it up for that little S10 Blazer! Poor little thing was moving 4 and a half times it's own weight!
I had a similar story on retrieving my old 52 3/4 ton, mine was grown into a woods for 20 years. 3 chainsaw blades and over 1/2 mile of road-building, and we got her out!.
I bet your ole blue really liked the change in scenery, after it's been staring at the same woods for 20 years!
How in the world did you get youtube to allow a 30 minute vid?
I rescued mine back in the 90's and it has long since been sold... I'm thinking about another one though. Looks like I have to go to Oregon to find a solid truck, because here in Michigan everything is rotted out.
Good luck with your resto's and I love your editing skills, I know they are a whole lot better than mine!
Are you in Oregon or Lima Ohio? I went to Northwestern in Lima.
Keep the vids coming, I subscribed along time ago!
Thats an excellent find glad to see another one saved from the being a scrap yard trip.
Also love the shots of your part of the country. Keep up the great shows nowadays theres to much junk on the internet and tv, but your channel is top notch keep em comming.
@TinManKustoms I credit the Mirror shot to Murf at under1981..com. He sent me a shot one day of a 57 Chevy loaded on his trailer. Been waiting to do that ever since. He has an "old car/truck only" yard on Tennessee. Check out his site.
@BrutalMemories69 I do. I was working at the Chevy dealer when thay come out with them. Aside from the gutless 2.8's they originally came out with, I thought they were great. When it came time to buy a new car, we got another used Blazer. I'll get another if it ever comes to that again.
Totally awesome! I live in PA with some nice views, but you have some really impressive mountains and valley views out there. That is one part of the country that I haven't been to...yet! Lord willing and if I live long enough...
My friend you have gotten a great piece of american history there, I can remember my grandpa driving those old GMC;s. Glad to see someone get a hold of this that will do something with it. is it one of the Napco 4 wheel drive conversions? Grandpa had a 57 GMC with a Napco conversion. @mustie1 PPFFF! Me too, only it's garge time for the red International tractor you see in the background for a cam gear set, injectors on the backhoe, one dead cylinder on the Sprint, one dead engine in the Colt. Did I forget to mention brakes on the Blazer?
Great vid. I like hearing the story of finding the treasures as much as watching the resto work that goes into the treasures. I picked up a Pontiac 455 a few weeks ago, intake was off and the plugs were out for 19 years. Hammered so hard on a couple of those pistons to get them out, the tops broke off. Can't wait to see this truck back on the road. Nice find!
@ElderlyIron I soaked that bugger for a week in diesel! Two cylinders just would not budge, they were rusted in ther good. But she's all apart now! Only smacked my hand with the 5 pound sledge once or twice....
@ghtowagon Bought it with headers and a Torker intake already on it. (Why anybody would drop a Torker on a 3/4 ton truck with 4:56 gears is beyond me.) Headers are cheap and have thin flanges. Gaskets last about 1,000 miles. I may be using the headers from Whitey later on.
thats a nice blazer you have there i have always liked that body style i just tying to find a lower milage one with no rust on it. Great find also thats an awesome truck!!!! Great camera work there too. and u might have a little exaughst like on that old gmc hahahaha thumbs up!!
@TractorWorld We have 91 Blazer my wife bought new. At 300K it was time for another. I recommend the '93. Last year for that body style and you can get the Vortec 4.3. Find somebody with some deep pockets and I can get a car hauler load of rust-free units out there to you!

Nice find!
pearsonba350 1 year ago
@pearsonba350 Holy cow! Did you use a penetrant? A nice piece of firewood fit to the cylinder bore and a 20 pound sledge usually works pretty well.
I know what you mean, though. Not like you were gonna use the pistons over anyway. What a shame. Now you'll have to go 40 over and have MORE CUBES!
I can't wait to get back to the engine shop when we get started on Whitey's 389.
